This was an interesting read with some mystery, romance and adventure. Loved the characters and the storyline. I kept the pages turning to find out what was going to happen. I am looking forward to the next book.
Mail order bride: The Gunslinging Bride by Ashley Walter. With today's women's empowerment movement this book is right on trend. This is Estelle Easton and Barrett Graham's story. It is a fast pace, action packed, suspenseful and a sweet love story. It keeps you interested until the end. I can hardly wait to see what Ashlet Walter has in store for the rest of the series. A very good read that I recommend for all.
It was an interesting read with action, a little humor, romance, a little lie, a marriage that didn’t work out with a dishonorable man, a new life with a new man but first he must earn the right it is filled with mystery, and intrigue. Being a mail order bride isn’t easy but when you last marriage didn’t work out and the just of it puts you off marriage but leaving you with little or no other way you must try it again.
Estelle after looking and searching for the right man she hoped to find a man of honor this time she started writing to Barrett who is a sheriff, since her father was one she hoped she picked the right man this time. Estelle didn’t want to be held to the promise of marriage and felt if she paid her own way she wouldn’t have to marry a man she didn’t trust or like. Joining a wagon train with other women going west things don’t go as planned when one women gets sick they must stay behind to take care of her. Once they get moving again they are over taken by a gang, getting away from them they find a abandoned town and decide to stay. Sheriff Graham hears about the outlaws taking women he was afraid one of the women was his bride he goes looking for them. When he finds them Estelle isn’t truthful which spins a little mystery and one confused sheriff.
I enjoyed the plot and how Estelle is strong willing to stand proud and let no man take over her life. Barrett is a very kind upstanding man who is everything Estella is looking for in a man but with the little lie she tells she might lose the one thing she wants most in this world, a family, love and a happy life. The mystery made this an intriguing read that holds your attention. It does have a little more filler then I like, I did find my mind wondering a little but the author was able to pull it back. I enjoyed the humor and did laugh a few times as well as smile. For a first time author it was a book I enjoyed very much.
Estelle Eaton's first marriage was not a good one causing her to think that she shouldn't trust men especially as a mail order bride. Then Estelle goes to the West as a mail order bride. With a new husband, her past is gone, and she has a clean slate. Her wagon is left behind when her wagon train is attacked by bandits. Four other women and herself must find their own way home, but when they discover a deserted town a new dream is born. Angel's Reach is for women only. No guns, no men, and no pain. Someone wants these women gone, and they'll do whatever it takes to make them disappear. When Sheriff Barrett Graham comes looking for the missing women, he finds more than he bargained for. Can Barrett win Estelle's heart in a town where men are not allowed? Will she let him show her that not all men are bad ? Can he help her trust again? I love the humor, strong characters, and adventure of this new author to me. I was gifted this book and I chose to give my honest review. I can’t wait for another book in this series.
While running from the men who attacked their wagon train, bold Estelle and the other women happen across an abandoned town. Sheriff Barrett, from the next town, is certain that the women won't make a go of it in a town with no men. Bet, he didn't know that the women's Sheriff was a crack shot, and strong leader who could bring out the best in her fellow townspeople. Add in mystery, the Huckleberry gang, and men who can't fathom how the women could be strong enough to survive...and you end up with Refreshing western unlike the others you have read. I was thrilled to have the story progress, having started with brave women traveling to an uncertain future. Moving on through the rest of the book and you will find out just how strong these ladies are, and how they gain the respect from Sheriffs in nearby town. This is a clean read.
Mail Order Bride : The Gunslinging Bride by Ashley Walter is part of Brides of the Western Reach) aeries and is a western romance book. Ashley Walter does a different take on mail-order brides and uses this book to set up,what I hope will be a series of books about the women introduced in this book. This is the story of Estelle and Barrett.Estelle and Barrett 's story gives you background on the major characters and set up an adventure and a mystery. Ashely Walter sets up a town for women that they also will run. The town has an interesting story as well. It is a wonderful first book of a series. It keeps your attention.
I volunteered to read an advance copy for an honest review.

Mail Order Bride : The Gunslinging Bride (Brides of the Western Reach) (A Western Romance Book) by Ashley Walker, is a delightful Western Romance, set in the 1800's. This is Sheriff Barrett Graham and Estelle Eaton's story. Beautifully and masterfully written with strong women, a deserted town, mail-order brides, danger, a bit of adventure and romance. This story was interesting and intriguing with surprises, and twists and turns. I enjoyed the characters, they will definitely steal your heart. Strongly recommended for fans of the old west, strong characters, strong and brave women and a beautiful romance story.
This book was wonderfully written! I think Ashley did a fantastic job with this book! I adored Estelle's story, her journey and her adventures. I loved each of the characters in their own right. Except a select few of the bad guys of course. A fabulous western romance if I do say so. I really enjoyed Estelle and Barrette's connection and the way things play out between them. I was rooting for Cadence and her fella and was wondering what may happen with Heidi and Nash. I'm assuming there's a book 2 in the works and I look forward to reading more of the ladies stories and adventures in Angel's Reach ♡
O love Mail Order Bride Books-I've probably read at least 100. I liked the title of this one and decided to give it a try; I also found I could get it for free. It was a fin , quick read with a twist to the theme. It has several women who each have their own baggage and insecurities. However, they are strong women who had together. Best of all, the men are also strong characters! Nothing cheapens a strong female character like a weak man. These men and women manage to fall in love, respect each other's strengths, and work together. Loved it and I bet you will, too!
This series is different than anything I have read before. It keeps your attention from beginning to end. Ashley Walter has a way of catching your attention and keeping it. This is one of those books you won't want to put down. There is so much going on that you can't wait to see what happens next. A great start in my opinion. You will love the characters in the book. Ashley Walter brings her characters to life. She leaves you with an answer questions. I guess we have to wait till the next
I read this in one sitting, I could not put it down!
When my husband asked what I was reading, I told him it was a book about a two sheriffs back in the 1800s, one of them was a female. It is also about a wagon train, a ghost town, bad guys, gold miners and female perseverance. Throw in a romance and you have a great all around story. I loved this first novel by Ashley Walter and look forward to future stories about the women in Angels Reach!
Estelle is very skilled thanks to her father that was a sheriff when she was younger. Barrett is suffering from a past fire where he lost his sister. Estelle was suppose to be a mail order bride for Barrett but she didn't have good success with her first one. Now with all that has happened between independence rock and her destination she is having second thoughts. A very good story with a lot of action and excitement.
I really REALLY enjoyed this book. Estelle is a phenomenal character, as are the other ladies of Angel’s Reach. I am a bit suspicious of Austin, especially with this whole Baron twist. I can’t wait to see where the author takes the storyline, because so far it’s really great. So far, I would definitely recommend this series and look forward to more from this author.
I really enjoyed this book and the connections of all the characters in this book. As you read it you can feel the characters and the towns that the author is talking about. She takes you back in time tot he Wild west and Mail Order Brides. I highly recommend this book and it will be a great book to read on the beach or anywhere. Great summer reading.
This was my first book written by this author but certainly wont be the last. I was very impressed with the story, and how she made all the characters in the story come to life in my imagination. I really enjoyed watching the main characters fall in love with each other. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a clean love story.
This is the first book by Ashley Walter I have read. The characters are well developed and the story had plenty of intrigue. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Great new series with fun and sassy independent women looking to create a safe haven for women of the Old West. Wonderful characters and an interesting storyline filled with secrets, action, zaniness, comedy and clean romance. I voluntarily read an ARC for an honest review.
The Gunslinging Bride Brides of the Western Reach book 1 I loved the main characters. Heartwarming romance filled with mystery, intrigue, surprising twist and of course, love. This is different then other stories. Read it and see. My free opinion ARC. Thanks.
Estelle and Barrett get off to a bad start. He has a problem shoulder and she is a woman. They are both stubborn, but as they get involved with arsonists and outlaws, they become very close.
I was surprised just how interesting i found this book. I'm actually looking forward to a sequel. I would, however, recommend a bit of dictionary use for the author. Some word choices just weren't correct.
Enjoyed this book so very much. I thank Ashley Walter for my ARC copy. This books does show that old western days had troubles just as we do today. Women can take care of themselves when they want and need to
I felt the book left out some stuff out, unless it will unfold in the books to come. Overall though I was captured and pulled into the story right away. I felt like I was in the book with them. I really enjoyed the book.
Thank you Ms Walters, this book had me hooked from page 1. Good Clean Action Packed Laugh Out Loud Read. Great storyline and tells how Women struggled to be more Indepent. A MUST READ!!!
I thought this was a pretty good book! I’m not a big fan of westerns but this one was interesting. I will be looking for the next one if this is a series!
Started off ok but half way through this story just kept dragging along. I skipped so many pages and still couldn't get into the story. I think three was one star too many.
