When I first read the book description of ‘All That Glitters’ I immediately really wanted to read it. Not only do I love romance novels with a Hollywood/ celebrity kind of theme. I also love country music. This book just sounded great and I was so happy to receive a review copy.

In ‘All That Glitters’ we meet former celebrity Dory Walker. Dory used to be an upcoming country star until an technicality with the microphone ended her career. When she finally starts to believe her career can begin again, she finally finds out her Hollywood star husband has filed for divorce and leaves her with nothing. Now Dory has to go back to the town she ran from years ago, and the people she neglected when she got her fame. And then there’s Harris Malone, the guy Dory had a major crush on for years.

‘All That Glitters’ is a fun and easy to read book. From the moment I started reading I was hooked and didn’t want to stop reading. I loved the small town life of Sycamore Bay and its characters. The author really made a great scène for this book and I loved getting to know the different characters.

But the main character Dory wasn’t easy to like. I disliked her for most of the book to be honest. Dory was used to this luxurious life and when she lost everything she only had her pride. And her pride really was a little annoying. She just seemed to think she was better than the rest of the town. Blegh.. I began to love her a little more near the end of the book, but still..

The romance between Dory and Harris seemed a little sudden, but I loved reading about their relationship. Harris was a great guy, almost to great and he definitely made Dory better. I especially loved the way Harris was with his little girl. What a great dad.

‘All That Glitters’ was definitely a fun read. The story ended a little abrupt to my opinion, but I love that there will be another book about this town and the characters.

All That Glitters is such a sweet romance read. It’s one of those stories that grips you from the start, holding tight until the end, leaving you with all the mushy feelings.

Told from altering points of view, All That Glitters offers us both a second chance romance and a tale of finding yourself when your life has been turned upside down. It is rags to riches in reverse, with country music and a lovable child thrown into the mix to make for a wonderful read. Without a doubt, it’s a super adorable story – one I came to love with so much ease.

All That Glitters has everything you would expect from a wonderful contemporary romance read: interesting characters, sweet scenes, drama, questionable events, and emotion. Everything you want in such a read can be found in this one. Without a doubt, it’s a worthwhile read if you’re looking for something new in the genre to pick up.

Trust me when I say, as soon as you start this one you’ll find it impossible to put down. It’s one of those books you’ll want to complete in a single sitting, needing to know how everything plays out.

I’ll be honest and say a few of the storylines were a bit predictable. The drama of certain characters was predictable, and you could easily work out who was up to no good. However, watching the story unfold to give you the reasons why is a lot of fun. There is more to the story that you originally think, and even though you can work out how certain elements are going to come together, it is wonderful to watch as everything unfolds.

After all, drama is what fans of this genre live for. Even when we know the drama is coming, we still love it. From the first page, we have drama – drama of every variety. Showbiz drama, relationship drama, criminal drama, family drama, friendship drama – and all the other kinds of drama you can think of. Despite all the varying types of drama, it never feels like too much. It’s wonderful how this happens: it’s the perfect mix of drama – we have a lot, yet we’re never drowning in it.

The only thing I felt was lacking is some kind of epilogue. With romance reads, I’m a big fan of epilogues. Whilst the ending of this book gives us a happy for now, I would have liked a final chapter to show whether or not the happily ever after was reached. Yes, everything was brought together; however, it just felt a bit sudden and I would have liked that little bit more.

Overall, this was a lot of fun.

My Review
If you are looking for an easy delightful and charming read, I would recommend “All That Glitters” by Tracy Krimmer. I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.
The genres of this book are Contemporary Romance, and Women’s Fiction.
The author describes the characters as flawed, and mostly likeable. After being in the lime light as a famous country singer, and married to a famous singer, Dory Walker, gets the shock of her life. During a live interview, she finds out that her husband has filed for divorce. Dory has become used to a luxurious lifestyle, and now finds she has nothing. The only possession she has is her Mercedes. Dory heads home to her small town to live with her Grandmother.
I really like Dory’s Grandmother. This is a tough, no mess me with person! Dory’s Grandmother insists if Dory wants to live in her house, she has to get a job. Dory has been negligent in keeping in touch with her Grandmother.
Dory also comes face to face with friends from her past, that she ignored on her way to fame.
I love the way the author describes the importance of family, friends and love!! It was great to see growth in the characters as well. This was a feel good book. Happy Reading!

I loved this sweet small town romance. I'm not really into the "rock star romance" theme - I can't relate to all the fame and stardom but a country singer, fallen from grace, who crawled back home to the people she'd ditched on her way up - yep, loved it. And the single dad romance - swoon.
I think Stella, Dory's grandma, was my favourite character. She was down to earth and tough.
I can't wait to read the next book in the series and see where Dory goes from here.

I really enjoyed this story. I'm a sucker for mushy, love stories. The characters were sweet, and I loved the back and forth between Dory and Harrison. I enjoyed reading both POVs, and am excited to read more of their story and see how their relationship progresses, and if/how Dory rekindles her career. This was a great book, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a mild romance, with a bit of drama.

I love this story and am looking forward to reading the sequels. The turmoil and then redemption between characters made for a very interesting read. The descriptions were so vivid that I could easily picture the characters and the scenery in my head.

What a feel good story about old flames being rekindled! The writing was smooth, which allowed the story to flow so easily. The story is told between two characters and I felt that the transitions were smooth with each chapter picking up where the prior chapter left off. Enjoyable read for the beach!

This book had so many of my favorite things wrapped into one!

A country singer trying to find herself again...Oh yeah!
A second-chance romance that leaves you swooning and wanting more...Yes, Please!!!


This book starts off with a bang, and you're immediately immersed into Dory's world.
She's no longer the huge star she once was, and even more than that, she's not even sure who that person is anymore.

All it takes is a trip down memory lane and a move back to her hometown for her to see that everything she ever needed in life was there all along.

"Dory was the one who got away.
And I was too dumb to not chase after her ."


I fell so hard for Harris!
Oh my gee.
He's just a great guy who will do anything for his daughter, even if she puts up a fight;)
And the things he feels for Dory are so swoonworthy! Gah!

As you flip the pages, you are constantly trying to force them together because you know it NEEDS to happen.
But the best part about a love story is the journey<3

I'll be honest, Penguins--this book fell very flat for me in a few different instances. The biggest one? I felt that, on the whole, these characters were much more immature than I was expecting them to be. Several times, I had to force myself to STOP thinking of them as teens and remember them for what age they really are--mid to late 20's. I'm not entirely sure where the disconnect happened for me; I feel as if the attitudes, especially those in times of drama or stress, were less "put together" and more "chaos roaming" than I expected. Dory, especially, seemed much more like she was still in high school. Perhaps there was a reason for this, in the end--perhaps Dory was meant to complete some life-changing character ARC/growth journey that I, as a reader, didn't catch onto or witness. This disconnect, however, held me back a little--I wasn't entirely able to connect with or feel for these characters, especially Dory.

Even though on the outside we glittered like gold, inside we were almost as black as coal. Sometimes the glitter people saw was only the shattered pieces reflecting among the broken glass.

The plot was entertaining and well-paced, however! I also feel as if the relationships outside Dory's POV (those between Harris and his daughter, for instance; or Harris and his ex-wife; or Harris and his dad) were all gorgeously written and so well done. I was SO happy to see a divorced couple that actually strove to remain friends after splitting; for a romance novel (or our world, to be honest) this was a refreshing and surprising outcome, and I love that it's how Tracy Krimmer handled that particular relationship. I wish we'd seen such growth and closure from Dory's relationships; even at the end of this book, I felt she was a bit too stiff and awkward with the people who were supposed to be her family. Still, I had fun following Dory on her journey to finding where she belonged.

This was, overall, a cutesy contemporary that read just a BIT too much like YA for me. I was often confused or embarrassed by Dory's immature outbursts, and felt she wasn't given enough chance to grow and shape herself on this journey. I adored the relationships centered around Harris, however, and found him to be a complex and entertaining character to get to know. I'd recommend this to lovers of angsty romances, intriguing sub-plots, and well-rounded relationships. Kick up your heels, Penguins; glitter doesn't always have to be gold.

Dory left Sycamore Bay as soon as she could get out and made her way to LA to be a country music star leaving behind her Grandma, her best friend Tammy, and her high school crush Harris. Seven years later, Dory’s life has just been turned upside down in a very public way and she has no choice but to go crawling back to her hometown left with nothing but her car. She soon discovers that her Grandma and Tammy are close friends now and neither is overly happy she is back. She also discovers that Harris is just as tempting as he was back in high school and he is a single father since divorcing his high school sweetheart. Harris hates gossip and doesn’t like being in the spotlight. Can he and Dory have a relationship if she really plans on trying to reignite her career as a singer?

I absolutely loved this book! I love the style of Tracy Krimmer’s writing. She has the ability to bring people and places to life right off of the page. The characters are well developed. Dory wants to reignite her country music career but is trying to find herself at the same time and has never forgotten her high school crush. Harris is an amazing man, a super dad to his little girl, and has never forgotten that one kiss shared with Dory in high school. Grandma has a lot of attitude and some great advice to share along the way. Laura is a sweet little spitfire that is going to be a major handful as a teenager. I love the descriptions of Sycamore Bay and its personality as a small town where everyone knows everyone else’s business whether you want them to or not. Dory and Harris’ story is a roller coaster with lots of twists, turns, and loops to keep the reader interested. This was a great book and I seriously couldn’t put it down because I had to know what was going to happen with Dory and Harris- they were just meant to be together.

Goodness this was a tricky read, and as such it's a 2.5 read. I think this was the first instance of getting both central characters points of view, where it didn't serve the story well.

The first chapter has you starting with Dory, and you end the book with Harris. And as such for me it felt rather incomplete. This is Dory's story. Yes, Harris is part of it, but any growth and change in him was minor. Especially, when compared to just what Dory was dealing with.

Part of the two of them getting together include the "unfinished" high school elements. That read as very contrived to me.

That said, Dory's story would be very different for not some of the way in which having Harris there impacted her actions. And the same for Harris. I appreciate that the author did clearly establish both characters as separate people, and not just add-ins to the stories.

Still more Dory, in her story...and some more Tammy and Dory's grandmother moments would have gone a long way.

Dory is a country music star that is dealing with some issues that bring her career down. When she is down on her luck and broke she returns to Sycamore Bay, the small town she grew up in. Harris is content with living in Sycamore Bay. Dory was the one who got away but his life is on track. When he sees Dory he can't believe his eyes. This is their story as the navigate their feelings for each other.

You will feel for Dory after all that has happened to her. This story is about so much more that her being down on her luck. As she returns to her roots she vows to get enough money to get back out of town and back to singing. What she soon realizes is how important family, friends, and her old lifestyle was. She has to open up her mind and her feelings. Watch as she rediscovers herself. The twist with an old friend did not take the turn that I thought it was going to.

All of the characters in this book added to the small town feel. You will laugh and cry right along with them.

It's always a privilege to receive an ARC from an author. I truly appreciate the opportunity to read their work. So it really bothers me to have to rate this at only 2 stars. The story itself had potential. Has-been, recently divorced country music star goes home to second chances with the guy, family and friends she left behind. I just couldn't connect with the characters. The dual POVs, that I usually love, didn't work. The end of the story fell flat and didn't seem to have real resolution. Now it could all be me and others will love this story. Unfortunately, I just didn't.
