Charmed in Texas #5

A Charm Like You

Rate this book
Even in a quirky small town like Charmed, Texas, there’s always room for love to take you by surprise . . .

Gabi Graham might have hit the proverbial rock in rock-bottom. Hitting the single scene after ten years is hard enough. Finding out that her cheating ex-husband and his new barely-legal fiancée are expecting—that’s enough to drive Gabi over the edge and into a neighboring town’s divorce support group. It’s not really her thing to listen to anonymous strangers bash their exes, but at least there are cookies. And a sexy fellow newcomer who ignites her long-dormant libido. Spending a few lustful, post-meeting moments in Hot Guy’s truck can’t hurt. Unless, of course, Hot Guy turns out to be Thatcher Roman—her best friend’s brother and Gabi’s silent business partner.

Thatcher had no idea that the wildflower farm owner he’s been doing business with over email is the nameless woman who’s barreled into his life and his fantasies. He and Gabi have a new venture to run, a sister and best friend in the middle, and enough sparks between them to light up the entire town of Charmed. Given her past, it’s no wonder smart, gorgeous Gabi has trust issues. But maybe what they’ve found is more than just coincidence and chemistry. It might even be the beginning of one sweet, amazing second chance . . .

Gabi Graham lives in the small town of Charmed, Texas where her family owns a florist shop. She also has a new business venture she’s excited about. Her personal life is a different story. Her love life is at an all time low since her husband cheated and left her for a younger woman. Now she’s divorced and single for the first time in over a decade. She’s struggling to adjust to her new reality, and decides to attend a divorce support group in a neighboring town. She figures maybe being around strangers who are in a similar situation might be good for her. One plus is real names aren’t allowed, and it’s anonymous. She’s tired of always being so angry, and thought venting about everything might help.

Then she meets a sexy guy there who awakens something inside her she didn’t know still existed. She feels chemistry and lust that consumes her every time he’s near. She begins to look forward to getting a weekly glimpse of all that delicious perfection. The flirting ramps up, and she is considering a no strings fling with her mystery man as things begin to heat up. Then she learns Hot Guy’s true identity as their real worlds collide. Things are now complicated, and she’s questioning her judgment. She’d sworn she would never let anyone have the power to hurt her ever again. Her trust was damaged, and she didn’t think she was ready for something real. Would she recognize she’d found something amazing before it’s too late?

-Whoever he was, he was beautiful.

-In the light of the room, he had morphed from just simply hot to drop dead scorching.

-No one had had such a physical effect on me in years. Maybe never.

A Charm Like You is a fantastic book about love, friendship, and second chances. It’s sexy, full of humor, and the angst will have you hooked throughout. I had trouble putting this one down, and I loved this guy hard! He’s super swoony!!! I really enjoyed this story!

-I’d forgotten how amazing a man’s touch could be.

-Oh, sweet lollipops, the man could kiss. Like, clothes-peeling kind of kiss.

-He was breathtaking. And not just in the physical way, although obviously there was that. He was heart palpitating. But also, he was just- so damn solid. Normal. Dependable. Real.

Sharla Lovelace concludes her irresistibly delightful romp through the small town set novels, Charmed in Texas, with A Charm Like You.

After Gabi Graham finds out that her dishonest ex-husband and his too young fiancée are expecting a baby, she decides to go to a divorce support group where she discovers there’s a lot more than cookies and ex bashing.

During her first meeting she spends some time with a super Hot Guy with a Clark Kent name tag. After her next meeting she goes to second base with said Hot Guy in his truck. But the next time they see each other turns out to be a bit disastrous when she discovers Hot Guy is actually Thatcher Roman, her silent partner and her best friend’s brother.

Even though they’ve both been burned, the chemistry between them is undeniable and Thatcher is willing to give them a chance. Can he convince his reluctant business partner?

Lovelace writes with an enchanting combination of wit, humor and sexiness. And speaking of sexy, who would fall for a hero who is helpful, thoughtful, caring, protective, willing to put his past issues in the past and take a chance on love? Thatcher is a perfect book boyfriend. Unfortunately Gabi’s trust issues were seemingly unsurmountable and her reluctance to take a leap throughout the book grated a bit.

I loved this town and series! I'm so glad Sharla included a super happy ending for all of the characters. It’s sad it has come to an end but I’ll remember these characters for a very long time. A Charm Like You is book #5 in the Charmed in Texas series by author Sharla Lovelace. It is a standalone contemporary romance, told from both points of view.

I will never regret that I decided to take a chance on this Charmed in Texas series. It's seriously the gift that keeps on giving, each book offering its own spin on the same sort of quirky charm and heartfelt emotion that has been the hallmark of the series for me. I've loved each one for different reasons and in different ways, and A Charm Like You is no exception.

Gabi and Thatcher were a long slow burn. Honestly, Ms. Lovelace kept these two dancing around each other while their chemistry sparked and sizzled for what felt like forever. From the moment of their unusual meet-cute, the connection between them was glaringly obvious, and it stayed true for the entirety of the story, even if it took them a while to recognize it themselves. And they were adorable together, their banter and interactions causing endless smiles, even when they were frustrating the heck out of me.

The small town quirkiness and hints of mysticism that I have loved so much in this series are also present here. The secondary characters always delight, although this time they also packed a bit of a punch. There were tears. And then there was laughter through the tears. And that, I think, is the magic in Ms. Lovelace's writing. There are all these emotions, and you sometimes feel them all at the same time, and they all feel so true. It's a wonderful thing to experience, and it ensures that I will always be back for more.

A Charm Like You read like the last book in the series and, while my eyes are filled with happy tears because of all the wonderful closure, I still somehow sincerely hope that this is not the end. I would return to Charmed a thousand times over to spend more time with these fantastic characters. This was another easy five stars for me! ~ Shelly, 5 Stars

3.5-4 STARS!
I absolutely love Sharla Lovelace and the Charmed in Texas series—all of the couples who return in each subsequent book feeling like family. I believe that this is the last book in the series and honestly it's hard to let these characters go :(
There has always been an underlying sense of magic within this series starting with Aunt Ruby in a Charmed Little Lie and you see it in this one too.
Gabi Graham meets "Hot Guy" Thatcher Roman in a divorcee support group. She has since left her cheating husband and is trying to come to terms with her life and what comes next. With a series of mishaps, the one thing she has to look forward to is seeing "Hot Guy" and thinking about the possibility of a one-night stand.
But it all comes to a stop when she realizes who he is (the brother of her best friend!) and how they are connected in business—should they really be muddying this up for something fun and physical and not serious?
But is it serious... is there more? HECK YEAH! Gabi is just too mistrustful to see it, but it's as clear as day. I understood her trust issues but Thatcher... OH THATCHER! He tried to show and say a million times over that it wasn't just one night with him and that there was more, and that part of the story made me want to hit Gabi in the head for her to see what was in front of her because it was frustrating at times with the back and forth (though I again I understood her side because of everything she has been through).
So will they or won't they? That is the question. I enjoyed the slow burn... I loved the heat and spark... I simply love this town and the magic surrounding it. There were sad parts but also excitement for the possibilities that were given to all the characters in this series that I have grown so fond of.
If this is the end (which it really did come full circle for these characters), then I am very much looking forward to what this author has in store for us next.
Readers who love small-town romance, who love that element of magic, who love fun, quirky characters and well written stories will love this series!

4 Sweet & Sexy Stars!

“Comfortable can be dangerous.” “It can slap you upside the head when you aren’t looking.”

A Charm Like You is the second book in the Charmed Series, but can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone novel. This is my first book by this author and it definitely won’t be my last.

From the moment I picked up this book, I fell in love with the characters. Gabi is down on her luck and just trying to make the best out of the cards she’s been dealt lately. The last thing she ever planned on was another chance at love. And when Thatcher enters the picture, all bets are off. He makes her want to take a chance and throw all her reservations out the window.

Overall, I thought this book was a really enjoyable read. Definitely one that you can finish in a single sitting. I enjoyed the story-line and had a great timing meeting and falling for the characters. I adored Gabi and Thatcher together. I enjoyed their banter and how they just got and understood one another. I loved how important their families and friends were to them and how they didn’t want to disappoint them. Sure these two made me a little crazy at times, but I honestly couldn’t get enough. I thought that Gabi & Thatcher had excellent chemistry and I loved watching the two of them try to figure things out.

A Charm Like You is a great book to spend the day getting lost in. It will make you crazy. It will make you laugh. It will make you swoon and most of all it will make you fall in love. I had a really great time getting to know Gabi & Thatcher and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

It’s always a delight to go back to a beloved small town, and I was SO looking forward to visiting Charmed, Texas one final time.

I started off liking Gabi Graham. Even though her husband left her for a girl she used to babysit, and she’s losing her house in five days (because the idiot ex defaulted on a loan and used the house - he no longer owed - as collateral), she was spunky. She marches into her ex-husband’s office, and tears him apart for not telling her that she’s going to lose her house. I was all “YOU GO, GIRL!” It was a scene frequently needed but seldom seen in books. Sure, she also had moments of sadness and insecurity, but for the most part had moved on and was weathering the pitying looks of everyone in town. When she meets a totally hot and charming guy at a divorce recovery group, she finally feels like she’s ready to move on.

Until she finds out that Hot Guy is her best friend’s older brother. And also her new business partner.

It was at the point of this discovery the book’s pacing and charm came to a screeching halt.

I’m not a fan of the “I can’t be with you because you’re my best friend’s sibling” trope. It NEVER makes sense to me. If you’re a terrible person and your friend wouldn’t want you involved with their sibling, then why are they friends with you? So, when I get repetitive thoughts about how you can’t be with your best friend’s brother, I get annoyed. And bored. And want the book to be over as quickly as possible.

Then we had this whole slapstick, clutzie heroine deal going where the heroine was constantly falling into the hero, thereby putting them into close contact when they are trying to stay away from each other. It happens once, okay. But again and again? I’m no longer amused.

Thankfully, Sharla Lovelace is a skilled writer. The humor in her books (minus the slapstick, accident-prone issues) is effortless and plentiful. The dialogue is witty. The characters are charming. The first 30 percent was good, and the last 40 percent was good.

But sadly, the middle 30 percent made me want to bang my head against a wall. Gone was the entertaining writing, the quirky people and funny town traditions (which gave color and spice to the previous books), and in its place SO MUCH ridiculous thoughts by Gabi about how she and Thatcher could never be together, how it’s such a bad idea. Thatcher was awesome, and she was just stupid about him. It was frustrating.

I’ve enjoyed my time in Charmed, Texas. This book did a lovely job letting us catch up with all the couples from the previous books, and giving everyone a bright future. Despite not exactly settling Gabi and Thatcher firmly into a happily-ever-after, the ending left me feeling like all the loose ends were tied up into a nice, neat bow. And I can’t ask for much more than that!

I am a little late getting this review posted but better late than never. I have been reading this series since the beginning so it is safe to say I have been enjoying it. It seems that with this one, Lovelace has raised her game a bit. It very well be my favorite in the series, or at least tied with the first one.

The reason why you ask? She perfectly captured the chemistry and attraction between Gabi and Thatcher. How they knew when the other was in the same room as them, how they could tell when the other was looking at them etc. It isn't always easy to capture this kind of connection. Many times it falls short or so overboard it is cheesy. In this case it was the perfect balance.

For reasons I will not share, it appears that this will be the end of the series. A town of quirky characters, I am going to miss Charmed and its gang.

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) I started reading this book come to discover that it is part of a series and I was way left behind. This apparently is the 5th book, and you know what you kind of needed to read the others to know what was really happening. That said the book wasn't bad it was actually captivating, but Gabi drove me a little nuts I mean I felt bad for her and everything that she went thru that was heartbreaking. But her back and forth with Thatcher kind of drove me up the wall, I guess it comes because I am pretty much a decisive person that when I have others in a see-saw bugs me but I tried to give her a break again due to the craziness her life went thru, however I wont be reading the beginning of the books not that interested.

I absolutely adored this addition to the Charmed in Texas series. Gabi and Thatcher are strong, fun, complex characters and their story is sexy and emotional. When they first met at a divorce support group one town over from Charmed they had no idea they both had ties to this wonderful quaint small town or the quirky characters that reside there. When she finds out Gabi tries to resist for various reasons but the chemistry is too strong to stay away. Grab a copy and enjoy the journey these two take to find their HEA. I highly recommend it.

A Charm Like You – the latest installment in Sharla Lovelace’s Charmed in Texas series also feels somehow like it’s the last. I mean, there’s a development near the end that feels like a CLOSURE to all the Charmed couples that have been introduced since Lanie and Nick in A Charmed Little Lie last year. Of course, I am not really updated with news, so maybe I’m mistaken.

Anyway, A Charm Like You brings us Gabi Graham. She’s Micah’s best friend – heroine from book #4. When this book starts, Gabi is not exactly in the good place in her life. Her marriage is going down the drain. Her cheating husband is marrying a younger woman that Gabi uses to babysit (!) and she is also pregnant. Gabi cannot have children -- which is another reason why this divorce hurts. On top of that, her husband lets their house go into foreclosure, which makes Gabi practically homeless.

The only silver lining for Gabi is the potential to have no-string-attached sex with this Hot Guy she meets at divorce support group. Without knowing each other’s name, it’ll be perfect distraction, right?

Until she finds out Hot Guy’s real identity… Thatcher Roman… as in her best friend’s older brother as well as Gabi’s own silent partner.

I think A Charm Like You is definitely my favorite book of the series!! I love Gabi!! I mean, with everything that happens to her, she still held her head up. She still has humor. She still has spirit and guts. Basically, Gabi still rocks.

Yeah, so maybe Gabi is playing a little push and pull with Thatcher, but I can’t really blame her. With her life falling apart, Gabi is scared that she will lose Micah and her business if this ‘new thing’ with Thatcher doesn’t work out.

Oh, Gabi and Thatcher also have SPARKS people!! Their chemistry is strong and I LOVE it when they discover each other’s identity because it provides great sexual frustrating moments *laugh*

Like I said in the beginning, there’s a development near the end which brings TEARS to my face. It has something to do with one eccentric older character that has been around, I think, since the first book as well. If this is a sign that the series is ending, I’m quite happy with it. Although I hope Ms. Lovelace continues with Jackson Roman’s story – and maybe this time have the story from BOTH hero and heroine’s perspectives.

The ARC is provided by the publisher via Netgalley for an exchange of fair and honest review. No high rating is required for any ARC received.

A Charm Like You (Charmed in Texas #5) by Sharla Lovelace
4 stars
M/F Romance
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Gabi is trying to figure out where she goes from here. With a cheating husband about to get married and have a baby, Gabi thinks she's hit rock bottom. But, when even more is thrown her way, she will have to rely on her friends and family to get her through.

Thatcher is known for not being very fun or easy going. When he finds himself at a divorce support group, he doesn't expect to be attracted to anyone. With his constant worrying about his siblings and running the family business, he doesn't think he has time to follow that attraction.

When it turns out that they actually know each other, both have to decide if their attraction is worth it or if business trumps their feelings. When a series of unfortunate events (or fortunate, depending on how you look at it) occurs and the gang has to band together, everyone will have to decide if the strangeness that is their little town is real or just their imagination.

I really enjoyed watching the development and thought process of Gabi and Thatcher. It was a slow burn that just got hotter and hotter. You could really see them processing the situation and their relationship. I also loved how both were shoved out of their comfort zone. I do wish that there was more of a resolution between Gabi and her ex husband, but I'm not sure what it would be.

This was a very enjoyable read and I loved the quirkiness of the town and it's people.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the fifth book in the series, and although this was my first introduction to Charmed, I enjoyed it no end. I recognised that there were elements which I had missed by not having read earlier books, but could still really appreciate Gabi and Thatcher's story. I definitely plan on going back to find out the detail in earlier books.

From their first meeting it was clear that there was amazing chemistry between the two of them, and then we are along for the ride. Gabi has a lot of baggage that she is working through, which holds her back. She is also pursuing a new venture which means a lot to her, so extra complications really cause her to be diffident. Thankfully, those around her are supportive, and Thatcher is determined.

A really lovely read, with the beauty of community thanks to the small town, people who care, and a really hot romance - delicious reading, thank you.

**I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.**

I enjoyed this book. Gabi is a strong person who's had more than her fair share of bad luck. Her cheating ex has more than done her wrong, so much so, that she's wary to start a new relationship. Thatcher is hard headed and knows what he wants, and Gabi is what he wants.

Another great installment in the Charmed in Texas series and I'm hopeful there will be many more to come.

This book has all the elements of my favorite kind of romance. Quaint, small-town setting, quirky but loveable characters and a captivating and engaging storyline. It's one where the people are welcoming, family is comprised by bonds of the heart, friends embrace you unconditionally, faults and all, and love offers healing, hope and second chances. As if that’s not enough, there’s also a supernatural element that offers some delightful, touching surprises to our friends in Charmed, TX.

Gabi is the last of her group of friends to pair up, which is exactly how she wants it. Not long after Gabi discovered her infertility issue, her marriage went up in flames with all the grace and dignity of a fiery inferno from an exploded oil rig. Not only is her ex-husband about to marry his pregnant child-bride, he neglected to pay the mortgage on the home Gabi now has five days to vacate before the bank takes possession. To add insult to injury, her family's floral shop is asked to do the flowers for the wedding shower, with tiny baby booties, to boot. Nope. Not. Happening.

In an effort not to kill her ex, and with encouragement from her mother, Gabi heads the next town over to attend a support group for divorced singles. Not her idea of fun, but Gabi really needs not to kill her ex, and she’s hopeful there will be cookies. In addition to cookies, there are vamped up divorcees on the prowl and one hot guy she has an instant connection with. And holy hades, it is one hot connection. The mystery of going with the support group rule of not using real names just adds to the intensity of their deliciously slow burning romance. That is, until Gabi finds out her hot guy is really her silent business partner and her best friend's brother. So obviously, Gabi can’t keep doing this, whatever it is they’re doing, with Thatcher. Except every time they’re within ten feet of each other the air sparks and crackles between them and she somehow finds her lips on him again.

Some readers might fault Gabi for her excessive pushing, rather than pulling, when it comes to Thatcher, and I’ll admit, a wishy-washy heroine can really grate on my nerves. But with Gabi, I get it. It wasn’t a matter of her not knowing what she wants, but rather fighting her feelings and being afraid a relationship with Thatcher would fail. If I had to deal with everything that she has endured, I might be just a tad resistant and afraid to trust any man, too. When Thatcher challenges her and calls her out though, she overcomes her fear and fights for them.

The early copy I read of A Charm Like You is only my second in the series. Although I’ve missed the first three books, I was never at a loss or feeling like I had missed key information while reading this book. I adored the other characters just as much as Gabi and Thatcher, so I will certainly be reading the other books in the series ASAP. There’s just something so warm and inviting about this setting and its people that I was ready to pack my belongings and move to this amazing, charming little town. I loved everything about it and just can’t get enough. Any fan of small-town romance is sure to love this heartfelt, humorous, poignant read, and if you’ve never read this author before, I urge you to give this one a try. Fans of authors like Emily March, Erin Nicholas and Iris Morland will adore everything that is Charmed, TX!

A Charm Like You marks the final book in the Charmed Texas line. This is the first series I’ve read by the author and I have since downloaded a bunch more of her titles. She has the uncanny ability to make me, a super hot mess myself, realize I am not alone. My goofs, my awkwardness, my morning breath horror is more commonplace than not. I will miss the hot messes of Charmed Texas.

Gabi is having a real crappy time as of late. Her husband decided to dump her for a younger model, her family is trying to convince her to get on with someone new, her friends are all coupling up and/or having babies. Sigh. She cannot believe she is going to a divorced group tonight, don’t draw attention, sneak in and out of said meeting is the only way to go. Too bad she literally bumps into the hottest man she’s ever laid eyes on walking into the meeting. After some flirting with “hot guy” she hightails it out of there, only feeling slightly like she ditched him on a date.

Thatcher is trying to take his siblings’ advice and get back out in the dating game. He meets a super cool chick at his first divorce group meeting but she sneaks out before he can catch her. They only use fictional names so he has no way of contacting her. He just hopes she decides to come back for another meeting.

After getting a letter of foreclosure, closely followed by news of her ex’s impending wedding and fatherhood Gabi snaps. She may or may not have gone to his office to confront him and she may or may not have flashed the entire office her boobs. Ehh, she knows they are awesome boobies so there should be no complaints. Feeling like she needs a boost she heads back to the meeting hoping “hot guy” is there too. After a whole lot a of shenanigans they end up making out in his truck like 2 hot and horny teenagers (but with a lot less flexibility). Not willing to risk real life just yet they decide they are interested but want to keep it strictly to meetings, for now. But y’all know how the universe works.

Gabi and Micah head out for a meeting with her brothers, who Gabi has never met. Thatcher is her partner in the wildlife project and Jackson is in town for a short visit. Heading into Thatcher’s office to wait his arrival while Micah talks to Roarke, she starts looking at old photos. As Micah and her brother both arrive back to the office she looks at the last one and realizes “hot guy” is Micah’s brother Thatcher. Holy shit balls this is bad.

Gabi and Thatcher fight their way through super steamy attraction, while trying to navigate the friend/brother zone to not lose any existing relationships. They encounter roadblock after roadblock testing their resolve to actually try a real relationship. Will the magic of the town recluse Bailey help set them on the path to forever love?

5 stars for the final entry in the Charmed Texas series. I am so happy I stumbled upon this author and her wonderful little town. I received an advance copy from Netgalley without expectation for review. Any and all opinions expressed are my own. I am now making my way through more titles from the author with little doubt I will find more hot messes just like me.

Ok, so I’m not a huge contemporary fan for whatever reason. However, when I started this book, Gabi’s pain and everything she was going through made me really feel for her. At one point in the book, I might have even choked up for a second...I really liked Thatcher as well. I had expected his POV in this book as so many books give both POVs nowadays. I think it helped me to like him and the book more without his POV. Anyways, I really loved their story. However, the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 were the few issues I had with the book overall. First, there were a number of couples that interacted with throughout the story and my perception was that the author assumed the reader had already read the books because their interactions and parts in the book had me confused and not really sure why they were in some of the roles they were in. A slight bother was that all of the males in the book were “gorgeous’, a fact brought up a couple of times. The big thing that knocked this from a 5 to a 4 was there was a mystical element at almost the end of the book that didn’t need to be there to wrap up the climax of the book the author wrote, not to mention how the stories themselves were wrapped up with the mystical interaction. It really took some of my love of the story away from me. Regardless, I look forward to reading more from this author. I highly recommend.

A Charm Like You is truly a great sendoff to this quirky, yet completely endearing group of characters. This time around it's Gabi Graham's turn to find love after her jerk of a husband cheats on her with his assistant and is now going to marry her and become a father. As Gabi tries to get her life back on track, she starts to go to a divorce support group and is immediately taken with a man she dubs, 'hot guy'. With no real names used during the weekly meetings, what starts as mild flirtation takes a very sexy turn and the surprise of Gabi and Hot Guy's lives are just around the corner.

Let's just say the entire wonderful group of friends we've come to know and love are a bit incestuous and I mean that in the very best way. But it's a whole load of siblings and friends and their lust for one another gets all tangled up. And with Gabi and Hot Guy, their worlds just got a bit more complicated when their real identities are revealed and Gabi doesn't know what to do. I liked that Hot Guy (Thatcher Roman) knew what he wanted and that was Gabi. But I was a bit miffed that Gabi kept turning Thatch away time and again and she was damn lucky he didn't give up on her.

I also love the subtle underlying story that has been a thread through the entire series and that is the bit of 'magic' that seems to follow Lanie's Aunt Ruby, Allie's Dad and the very mysterious Mr. Bailey, Gabi's benefactor for her Wild Things business. We finally get to somewhat understand how these three misfits lived their lives and the whys as to many of their decisions. The final chapters truly answered most the questions both myself and these characters have wondered about since the start.

I have been thoroughly charmed by this sweet and touching series and I'm sad to have to let this crew go. But A Charm Like You gives us the ending we all needed and I'm sincerely satisfied as to how it all concluded.

4 solid stars!

Recently divorced Gabi Graham takes her mother's advice and heads out to attend a support group for divorced people. The drive to Denning isn't long but Gabi sure wasn't going to attend such a meeting in her home town of Charmed, Texas. Imagine the gossip! Gabi isn't sure this is such a good idea but it's better than murdering her ex-husband. Gotta get the anger out somehow so this meeting could be the answer. "Okay. Just go in and get it over with" she thinks to herself. Moving towards the door... But what's this? Or rather who's this? It's six feet of smokin' hot man! "Nope. Not going there. Off men for good, except for sex. Hmm.... That might work" Gabi and "Hot Guy" enter the meeting together. The lady passing out name tags reminds them to not use their real names so she suggests Lois Lane for Gabi and Clark Kent for "Hot Guy" Is he Superman in disguise? Whew! How was she going to fight this attraction?

That's how Gabi and Thatcher meet - at a support group for divorced people. No real names given. Much to their surprise it was the very next day when they found out they were business partners and he, Thatcher Roman, is the brother of her best friend. This is a really bad idea. But neither can resist the attraction.

Sharla Lovelace has a real winner in her book, A Charm Like You. She makes a meeting by two unhappy people come alive as they get to know each other, help each other overcome some emotional distress and come to realize there can be a "Happily Ever After." I love both of these characters. I felt for them. I cheered them on. They made me feel good when they threw off their unhappy pasts and moved on to true happiness. This was a fun, yet emotional read. Sharla Lovelace has moved on to my "must read" author list.

After struggling with a boring book for four days, I knew I had to treat myself. A Charm Like You was sitting in my TBR queue and there was no question I’d read it next.

A Charm Like You is the kind of book you want to devour in one sitting, forgetting everything else around you. In fact, all of the books in Sharla Lovelace’s Charmed in Texas series have been like that. They are not only charming, but they have more than a dash of magic, are sexy, and have an adorable couple at the center that the reader cares about.

Gabi Graham has gotten the short end of the stick too many times lately. Her husband has cheated, and now she’s being thrown out of her house because he wanted to keep his fiancee in the lifestyle to which she’d grown accustomed and didn’t pay off the mortgage on his and Gabi’s house, which was his end of the deal. At a divorce support group, she meets “Hot Guy,” and the sparks fly, even after she discovers who he is (her best friend’s brother) and decides that they can’t do whatever it is they’re doing.

As “Hot Guy,” Thatcher ranks as one of my favorite Charmed heroes. He’s sexy, protective, laconic, and did I say sexy?

Gabi and Thatcher are a slow burn. In the same room they are combustible, without even touching each other. Just a look. The sexual tension is built up to a searing extreme. And this is just the way I like it. All of the anticipation.

A Charm Like You has a little bit of everything. I laughed, cried, and just wished it would never end. Frankly, I hope the Charmed in Texas series never ends.

My Review:
Aww, this has been a great series and I really enjoyed this final installment to the series and how it ended for everyone. So sweet...and yes, a little bittersweet, too. I've loved the presence of Mr. Bailey throughout the series and his presence in this book was AWESOME!

So, this book. All of Sharla Lovelace's stories are told from the heroine's point of view. As a result, this really feels like it is Gabi's story. Gabi's the one with the big character arc and Gabi's the one who really has to work through this relationship mentally. Gabi is six months out from her divorce from her husband of ten years. He cheated on her, so she has some issues trusting herself because she never even guessed they were having issues. Her attitude now is that guys are good for sex, but no more than that.

Enter Thatcher, who Gabi doesn't know as Thatcher. He's the Hot Guy that she met at her divorce support group in the town 30 minutes from Charmed. While she's in a partnership with Thatcher, she's never actually met the enigmatic brother of her best friend. So, she has no idea that this incredibly sexy guy who she has crazy insane chemistry with is the very last person she should be messing around with. (You see where this is going, right?)

Gabi has so many hangups, she can sometimes be a hard character to embrace. But there were several moments when this book brought me to tears. Overall, it was a good read. The entire series has been great. I definitely recommend it and ANY of Sharla Lovelace's books. She's an amazing writer.

This book has cussing (including f-bombs) and on page sex. If those things bother you, use your own discretion before reading. This is part of a larger series but you do not have to have read the other books to enjoy this one – it totally stands alone.

Much like all of the other couples in this series, the meet cute between Thatcher and Gabi was ridiculously awesome, and their chemistry was off the charts. I loved the way that their relationship developed, and the fact that both characters were flawed and imperfect. Ms Lovelace has a tremendous knack for writing incredibly lovable hot messes, and Gabi was no different. While she wasn't always logical, she was always relatable. And Thatcher was also a bit of a mess, but he was swoony and sexy and oh so likable.

The humor and writing style in this book were, as with the other books, fantastic. I would recommend this book and this series to anyone who enjoys a well-written romantic comedy with just enough drama and sexiness to make it interesting.

SLIGHT SPOILERS IN THIS PARAGRAPH ONLY: The only thing I really didn't like about this book was the money story line. I am trying not to spoil anything, but that was just way too over the top “picture perfect” for my tastes. This series has been so great – the characters have been so relatable and so normal, but the money thing ruined that feeling for me. I was so sad that this series was coming to an end, but the money stuff was way too cheesy-Hallmark-movie for this particular series and I'm kind of glad it's over now. It was a really disappointing end to a great series. Without that, this would have been a five star book.

I so enjoy visiting Charmed every book! The characters are great and the town is full of that small town gossip and busybodies. I loved Gabi and Thatcher together. Their playfulness with one another, and their commitment to friends and family. So many laugh out loud moments entertained with endearing and heart stopping moments. Couldn't put it down!

When Gabi's marriage and life falling apart she does something she never thought she'd do. Group discussion/therapy. But if the sight greeting her as she walked in was any indication she was gonna like at least seeing him. Tall, dark and sexy. And with no names being given that made it so much nicer. The attraction is instant. But things go from bad to worse when she finds out who he is.

Thatcher never thought he would go to a divorce group but here he is. Greeted with the sexiest woman he's ever seen. And the air of suspense not knowing what her name is makes her all the more alluring. But when the bomb drops and they find out who one another are, they agree they can't see one another.
Business partners, Gabi's best friend! Too many things get in their way.

As Gabi learns more about her ex and his new almost wife things break down for her and Thatcher is there. Seeing her at her worst and never wavering. Can they make a go of it? Is there a chance?

What if you met an incredibly Hot Guy the first time you attended a support group for those who are divorced? AND what if you were not in the market for a relationship even though you definitely feel the heat when you look at this man? Can you let go of the past and trust again or...not?

I loved this story told in first person by Gabi. She does not deserve the husband she had or what happened to her but boy is she strong and sassy and able to stand up to him with the final rock drops...on her toes...and leaves her super angry...and justly so. Her decision to “go with it” when she is taken home by Hot Guy kind of sets her back soon after when she finds out just who he is. After that happens there is a bit of dithering and dealing with what is really for the best along with some memorable moments that had me unable to put this book down.

Definitely recommend this book and this series.

I am hoping that Thatcher’s brother Jackson will have his story told in a spin-off book in the near future and hope that there will be a return to the delightful town and people of this series if only to catch up with everyone.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Lyrical Shine for the ARC – This is my honest review.

All I can say is WOW!! This book was amazing, and it just gave you the feels. I have loved the Charmed series, and this book was a great addition to the series. I was wondering what was going to happen with Gabi since her troubles were mentioned previously. I wanted to see her get her happy ending after everything. Gabi is newly divorced, but then the hits keep coming. I could totally relate with her, and I felt her pain. This book just draws you in, and you feel the emotions with the characters. There were times that I found myself laughing along with the book, and other times where I wanted to scream and rage. Gabi and Thatcher were prefect together. There were times where I got irritated with Gabi. There was so much back and forth with her, but it did add to the book. It made the ending that much sweeter. I would definitely recommend this book, but I highly recommend that you read the previous books in the series. Otherwise there is a lot that you will not understand.

The problem with staring a series at book 5, is that you have huge gaps of not only the characters in the previous stories, but also about their lives and the interactions amongst themselves.
Sadly , that was the case for me in this story.
I didn’t really get into the book until half way through.
All that said, the main plot was very touching. Gabi Graham and Thatcher Roman are two individuals that have lost in love , are trying to find a way to move forward, and meet by chance in a support group. Little did they know that 1- their chemistry would be instantaneous, and 2- that their lives were already intertwined.
It was at times, heartbreaking, but also funny, and heartwarming.
Because of the gaps, it was a 3.5 for me. But since that’s on me, and I respect the efforts authors put into their trade, I will give it a 4 star rating.

I had fun reading this book. Lanie’s world is crashing after her husband leaves her for a younger woman which shakes the foundation of her life. As she works to rebuild, she reaches out to a divorce support group where she encounters ‘hot guy.’ She believes she needs a just sex relationship especially since she is so afraid to trust and let someone back into her heart and world. Thatcher is captivated by this woman at the group. He is so very structured in his life and ‘Lois’ seems to have that spark that he needs. When their worlds collide in an unexpected way, will these two ‘strangers’ find a new path to love? Lanie and Thatcher were a joy to read and experience. Their meeting is funny and perfect for this duo. With their incredible family and friends around them, this is an amazing cast of characters that provided great depth to this tumultuous journey. Truly a perfect escape. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

A Charm Like You is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone novel. I didn't read the first book in the series and I still completely enjoyed this book.

Gabi's husband left her for a younger girl, and she’s losing her house in five days. She had no idea, she was going to lose her house, Her husband has destroyed her whole life, and everything she use to know. Gabi needed to get her life back. She started attending a divorce recovery group. This is when she meets "hot guy", and sparks happened almost instantly.

This was one of those books you can't stop reading. I loved everything about it. The way this author writes, put your right there in the story with the characters. I read this entire book in one sitting!

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for my review. I am a huge Sharla Lovelace fan and I think I have read all of her books including the latest in this Charmed in Texas series. I have loved all the quirky characters in this town and the steamy romances. This is, I believe the last in the series, and my only disappointment was it seemed a bit short-more like a novella than a novel. That being said, I loved this story and the way that the entire series was wrapped up. I love that all of the characters made a return appearance. I also thought that the story between Gabi and Thatcher-both trying to heal after broken relationships was especially sweet. The entire series is a must read!

4.5 stars - This is another winner. I have really enjoyed the series. I feel like each book just gets better and better and better. Maybe it’s because even though each book is a standalone, the characters repeat and with each installment we learn more about them and their relationships with one another. What most prevalent is how supportive and loving they are with one another. The attraction and romance (trying to fight it and giving into it) that’s building between Thatcher and Gabi are at the forefront of this read, with sexy times attempted but only finally happening at the end.

It’s a great read and I can’t recommend this one enough.

When Gabbie goes to a divorce support group the next town over she never imagines she will meet someone on the first day. That is not what this group is about, however some things can't be resisted.
Thatcher shows up at a divorce support group not telling anyone he is going. Not only does he meet Gabbie but he is hoping to get to know her better.
Both of them are in for one big surprise and have to figure out how to work around it.
This is a great series each book holding true to charming. I look forward to each book and have not been disappointed yet.
