Dareena Sellis is a nobody. The orphaned daughter of a no-name farmer, she toils away as a serving girl at Hallowdale Inn, her only marriage prospects either shipping off to war, or pawing at her skirts with their grubby, gnarled hands.
But fate takes a strange turn the day a dragon huntress comes to town. Suddenly, Dareena is swept off to Dragon’s Keep, trading in her raggedy dresses for silken gowns, her closet-sized room for feather pillows and spacious gardens, and her miserable suitor for three very handsome, very virile dragon princes.
For Dareena is not a nobody. She is the Dragon’s Gift—the one woman chosen by the gods every century to bear children for the future king of Dragonfell.
Despite her pre-ordained path, Dareena’s fate is far from certain. The crown has not given birth to more than one son in nearly a thousand years, and the line of succession is far from clear. Neither of the princes are willing to cede Dareena to the other, and yet she must choose. For the enemy is knocking on Dragonfell’s door, and Dareena’s decision could either mean the kingdom’s salvation…
I've thought long and hard about my feelings on these books and why they didn't grab me. I believe it's because there's no first person perspective, we never really get the internal thoughts of the characters, and because of that, there's far too much telling instead of showing. I never got the emotional depth and feelings of the characters and setting that I was looking for. They make no sense to me. I don't get why this woman's personality seemed to flip overnight from innocent farm girl to insatiable sex goddess. And I honestly can't tell the three brothers apart. Who figured a book with triplet dragon princes would not hold my attention? Ugh. It was rather annoying to read, and actually feels a bit like a traditional historical romance, cringey and cliche. I managed to get through it by speeding up the narration, but still had to pause after book 2 and read something else. It just wasn't good. For a more gripping reverse harem story, try the series that starts with Trickery by Jane Washington and Jaymin Eve. That one definitely hooked me, and I loved pretty much all of it.
This came as such a surprise. I just wanted a simple read while I waited on a book release. But this hooked me from the first chapter. I love all the characters and boi oh boi are there some saucy scenes in hear!
I’m only saying this because it’s a personal preference, but I truly dislike books in third person. Especially when the names are very similar to my ADD brain. Luckily there were a lot of distinguishing characteristics between m & f narrators. I would have rated this lower if physically reading, tbh.
Dragon’s Gift Books 1-3: Complete Series Boxed Set Collection
I purchased the Kindle & Audible books, but found that the Audible version did not have the epilogue that the Kindle version had. The Kindle version you were able to have a satisfying ending. I really loved this reverse harem story of 3 dragon prince’s finding their bride, the Dragon’s Gift, and could not stop myself from even listening at night. Thank goodness for the sleep monitor on Audible. I enjoyed the characters as the writer describes their thoughts and feeling as the story progresses. The narrators were fantastic in voice inflection & portrayed their characters, I thought, perfectly. There is intrigue as there are assassins attempting to kill the bride or prince’s to stop a prophecy. The Kingdoms are at war and it is up to the Dragon’s Gift, the prince’s and the prince’s sisters to solve these issues.
This is a three-book series starring Dareena, a common human girl working at an inn, along with three dragon princes in search of a ‘dragon’s mate’. Being chosen as the dragon’s mate is only the first step for Dareena, who is whisked away to the castle where she meets the princes and is unable to decide which one to choose, so she selects all three. The king, however, is suffering from dragon fever since the death of his queen and has turned mean tempered and unpredictable. Add to that a war between the neighboring elves to one side and the evil warlocks on the other, the stories merge into magic, mayhem and a lot of heavy sex. A thoroughly enjoyable read, one I recommend. I give it a 4.5 rating.
Did I enjoy the story? Yes. Was it very spicy? Absolutely.
Honestly, it was a good story for a trilogy. Although it is fast-paced, most of the time I felt as though I had adequate detail to envision the world and the characters.
But I will say that the end of the third book felt very abrupt. Very rushed. And part of me hoped that the FMC would have a bit more humble of a personality… she was very quick to fill in her role as the Dragon’s Gift that it felt like we lost a lot of her along the way.
If you like spice… like REAL spice, with colorful characters then this book may be for you. Just know that the ending is abrupt and may leave you wishing that it had 1-2 more chapters to really tie it all up nicely.
4 star rating! This was a very enjoyable storyline involving dragons, elves and warlocks. The heroine, Dareena was different from other heroines I've read. She's not all powerful and a bad ass but she definitely holds her own and has a good head on her shoulders. There was plenty of action throughout the trilogy, plenty of heated moments and as mentioned, the storyline was plenty captivating. I would definitely recommend this as a read, for adults of course.
This was a well written series with lots of twists and turns. The conclusion to the war was pretty effective and all storylines were tied up with a neat bow. In this conclusion, the h is attacked on multiple fronts. The enemy is trying to ensure the prophecy is not fulfilled. The three princes are trying to figure what's going on, how to stop it and pull together their kingdom; all while trying g to keep their dragons gift and unborn child safe. Recommend this series and the conclusion is a must read. Series must be read in order.
Amazing set of books. I just read one after the other and each book was well linked with the ones following picking up exactly where the previous book left of. I enjoyed to view in to all the main characters point of view throughout as I felt it gave a larger range and you could see what was happening when Dareena was separated from the princes. I would definitely recommend this boxset.
I enjoyed this series. I always prefer being able to read an entire series in order without waiting for any to be released. Well-written and interesting from beginning to end. The characters were great and appropriate personalities depending on whether they were good or villains. If you like fantasy type books with adventure, surprises, and romance then you'll enjoy these. Definitely had some unexpected twists throughout. Great series!
This series begins very predictably if you know it's a reverse harem series going in, but if you stick with it, the plot thickens drastically for the beginning of the second book.
Dragon shifters, political intrigue, and spicy romance await the reader in this fantasy trilogy.
The author does a wonderful job of not fixing any conflicts in simple, predictable explanations. Everything is well thought out and strategically brilliant. It keeps the reader guessing all the way through!
Love that the story didn’t drag on forever. Good amount of spice without forced dirty talking. Plot is also good and not too complicated. Love that Daneera isn’t an annoying trying hard to be a badass woman. I like how normal she is but she also is smart. Love that she’s not overpowered. Other people might find her boring but I like how she’s simple but kind and practical too.
This had a lot of potential.. the story, the conflict, the mystery and adventure was great. The authors paint an awesome world that i can picture like i was watching it at an IMAX theater. The characters though... specifically the female mc (i cringe). Otherwise, i would seriously consider giving this 4 or 5 stars, it had lots of entertainment value.
This series captivated from the start. I had trouble putting down! The characters are developed and the storyline is anything but boring or predictable. Will definitely read more from this author. Also, as a triplet, I love how she captured their relationship.
It took me 3 days to get through, and it was a very good series!
I loved the connections and banter, but I would have liked to see more about her elvin magic. Did she find out her element? Did she progress in healing, and how did she progress with her whip?
It is all on it's own with story building, places, wars and spying going on. Fated mates with a twist.
Commoner to Queen may not be an original plot, but the twists and turns make this series a definite original. It's like they took ten of my favorites and seamlessly meshed them all into one, with some added spice, just for fun. If you love paranormal romance, reverse harem, romantic suspense or just plain romance, you'll love this series!
I really liked the tastefully done harem sex scenes. The conflicts in the story were done well and kept me reading. The overall build up for a war that didn’t happen was a bit of a let down. I felt the wedding was rushed into as the storyline seemed to jump to that. I would read it again just for the love scenes, but not for overall storyline.

I like a good steamy book from time to time but this was ridiculous!! Every other page was a Ronchi incestuous sex scene. It was sheer stubbornness that got me through the actual story line and even the last few words were cheap, same old ronch!! I give it 1 star because zero stars aren’t an option!
I wasn't sure if l would enjoy this trilogy, but l was captivated. Gripping storylines and love and laughter makes for a really good read. Intrigue, mystery and magic all wrapped up in romance. I couldn't put it down so l ended up reading all 3 books in one day..... loved it.
It was an interesting story, with the usual good vs evil conflicts. However, I believe a warning of graphic sex should accompany the description. I am certainty not a prude, but the repetition and nature of the sexual encounters between the princes and the Dragon's gift became somewhat redundant and boring.
Dareena was an amazing character. Her growth throughout the story is both believable and enjoyable. I enjoyed the fact that all three books were available as a complete set. It kept the frustration of only buying the first book and having the sequels forever having to be left on the dusty E-shelves of the Internet.
I wasn't completely sure if I would enjoy this trilogy as I usually read single reverse harems. Doing a trilogy have me more character building but sadly the world building wasn't as strong as it could have been. The FMC is strong, the males all have some growing up to do.
The plot of the series had some promise in the early pages but by the end I felt like the author just wanted to shove as much plot into as little writing as possible. The pacing was off. Character development was very thin. Felt like a teenager writing with a big plot idea and no clue how to write the development to fit that plot.
I really enjoyed reading this series and recommend it to anyone who is a fan of this genre. I like that it’s an actual story with some sex thrown in, rather than someone trying to piece together a story around sex.
The story line was great .. it kept you guessing, the hero’s were hero’s, the villains were ingenious and the plots of intrigue kept you guessing ... please read and enjoy
Fun escape in to a new world. Enjoyed the back story and how well I could see the world around the character S. Story was well developed and kept me engaged throughout the books.
Sometimes I read about sex. I don’t like having it set upon me by stealth. Especially when it becomes, I see my mates and nobody can control themselves. Naked in 20 seconds. Trashy.
Absolutely LOVED this series!!! I couldn’t put it down! Good storyline, good characters, and HOT romance! There were times I found myself blushing! Whew
