What would you do if you saw red zero on someone's forehead...and then they died?
This is the first book in the Slade Kelly Suspense Series by USA Today and Amazon Chart #1 Bestselling Author, Dianne Harman.
Slade Kelly was first introduced to readers in the Blue Coyote Series. He's a private eye with attitude, street lingo, and a couple of advanced degrees. This three book short read series features Slade and the woman he guards, but is also in love with, Darya Rahimi. When she develops the ability to see red zeros on people's foreheads, and they die shortly thereafter, as well as owning the rights to an anti-aging formula, his protective abilities are put to the test.
If you're in the mood for a page-turning suspense short read with quirky characters and lots of action, this one's for you!
This starts out with Darya seeing red zeros on foreheads of people and then that person dies. Switch to Darya going to an exclusive yoga retreat with detailed descriptions of the food. Switch to the introduction of Clamhammer who has found a supplement to cure cancer. Nothing ties all this together and it ends abruptly. This is #1 of a series? OMG, I can't do it.
I read the first book The Blue Coyote Motel a long time ago-back in March 2015 actually (see my review here). I also read and reviewed the next two in that series! Ever since then I have been hoping and praying that Dianne Harman would continue that theme with Slade Kelly--Well that day has finally come--
It seems Darya (Slade's girlfriend) bought the anti aging cream from the wife of the man who created it--and has made a heap of money--But now when she sees Red Zeros on peoples foreheads--they die----
I do have to warn you that this is definitely not a cozy nor are there recipes at the end--but you will be reading the names of some really delicious ones throughout which are served at the retreat. We really have to convince Dianne Harman to create a cookbook-but I digress. A most unusual retreat-one that bears careful watching!! Slade just knows something is wrong but can't pinpoint it yet-not totally anyway.
This very short novel stops abruptly--making you know you have to get the next one in the series--then the third I suspect--to find out what the heck is happening and why!! As with the Blue Coyote series (still my absolute favorite of all Dianne Harman's books)--I will be reading and reviewing all of them! Red Zero
Although I really like Dianne Harman, I am extremely disappointed in this so called RED ZERO series of books. If all 3 books were rolled into one, it still couldn't be called a full length book. It's a joke! It felt to me like the start of a good story, with a very lousy ending, before the story even got of its feet. I've never given any book a terribly low rating, but I gave this 1 star, simply because there wasn't the choice to give it a 0. Maybe I've just always been lucky enough to choose better reads.........until this one
Received this as a free story. It was short but it did spark your interest. Will be going on to the next book to see how it progresses. After reading some of the other comments, I am surprised that other readers don’t understand why an author would give a free book. By giving the book free, it gives the reader enough to know if this is an author they want to continue to follow or is will be an author I will follow
Starts out with Darya seeing a red zero on foreheads and the person will die. Next she is in a yoga class and the instructor lets her know about a Yoga retreat. She goes to the retreat with her body guard. There is a chapter that mentions Clamhammer and his discovery of a cure for cancer. Nothing ties any of this together in this book and it ends abruptly. I guess the next book in the series needs to be purchased to find out what is happening. Didn't really spark much interest on my part!
Just finished this and the previous book in this 3 book novella series. Each book was only 7 chapters, which took me just about an hour to read all 3. But there was so.much content in each one, fascinating subject matter, interesting characters and a little bit of mystical context as well. I enjoyed them immensely as well as the character Slade. I am definitely going to go back and read the books where he was introduced. A light fun read!
What I purchased was an incomplete story. The writing style is awkward and no up the standards of other things I have read by this writer. What a disappointment! Apparently the rest of the story is offered in a Part Two. Based on the awkward writing style of this part I will not purchase Part Two even if I do wonder where this author was heading.
I chose this rating because it didn't really catch my interest like other books that I have read by the author. I like many other reviewers thought it was strange the way it ended. I will read the other two in the series only because I want to know what happens to the characters in the storyline.
A little on the creepy side. Hopefully book 2 will finish the plot. Which leaves you disconnected. No recipes? I always look forward to them at the end of the book.
It's interesting but I have to read more. I think the Master is somehow hypnotizing Daryna or slipping her drugs. This story was left in the air. You never do this. Anxious for book two to figure out the story.
I enjoy Ms Harman's books, so I'm going to try to stick with this series. Book or story one is mostly background information and a trip to a yoga retreat. So far, it has given me a sense of dread.
Good short story set at a yoga retreat. This is the first in a series telling about Spade Kelly who is a private eye. This first of 3 short stories sparked my interest to continue reading how the investigation continues.
This is the first Dianne Harman book I read. It was very short and left me hanging for more. The yoga retreat was a nice start but I need more action. Maybe I will read her first book to get a better understanding of Slade and Darya.
This short story for me was a waste of my time. It started good, but this story was not about a women seeing a red zero on a new borns head. It went in another direction. Not really telling you to much of anything.
This book is awful. I’ve read the other books with these characters and am disappointed in how they envolved. The ending...like it ended in a middle of a chapter. No cliff hanger, nothing to make you want to read book 2.
I definitely want to read more of the story! The author has begun a great story and has left me wanting to know what is next! I have a feeling he books are wonderful.
Darya Rahimi. When she develops the ability to see red zeros on people's foreheads, and they die shortly thereafter. She is a business women who creates an anti-aging formula and is very wealthy. This is a short story with a cliff hanger at the end and will keep you wondering what is next.
This a great short story with suspense,a good storyline and quirky characters. The ending was abrupt, causing you to anticipate the next story. Glad to see Spade Kelly back.
Not sure what to do with this short story. Started off promising but pretty much died on the last page. This was more of a prelude to a longer book than an actual book itself.
I didn't realize the book was going to end mid story. I also thought that Slade's street lingo made him sound like an idiot, but it was what the author wanted.
Very easy read. No spelling or grammatical errors. I didn't like the fact that the end really leaves you hanging. Hopefully I'll be able to read the rest of this series.
I enjoy Dianne Harman's series. The Red Zero Series is an introduction to a new series for PI Slade Kelly. I like Slade. Don't care as much for Darya. I think a series for Slade and his crew shows promise. I would just have to get used to his odd street jargon but he's a smart PI.
I gave it a two because I was very disappointed in it. The storyline was very weird. The ending was even weirder. Glad I did not have to spend any money on the series.
