There’s something strange going on in Superstition, Kentucky…The town didn’t even show up on most maps but when Biblical Anthropologist Wren McKee is fired from her job, she’s forced to accept the teaching position in the small mountain community. At first, she’s charmed by the idyllic setting and friendly townspeople.
Soon, however, she begins to discover that not all is how it seems…
For the past ten years she’s specialized in finding scientific and logical explanations for religious phenomena, but now even Wren must admit that there’s something strange about this community that still seems to believe in its folk tales, urban legends, and superstitions.
Why are the fiction books missing in the local library? Why are the children not allowed to play, and why do the townspeople act as though they’ve been waiting for Wren?
The mysterious, secretive community is hiding something, but just how dangerous ARE its secrets?
I have read nearly all of the Taryn's Camera series and loved those books. I am familiar with the author's work and her ability to take something ordinary and make it spooky, in this case, it was mountain song lyrics and superstition. I decided to try the Superstition Mountain series and found it a little slow in the beginning. Granted, the beginning books of many series' I enjoy are a little slow because the background needs to told so I was patient and let the story unfold. I'm giving this one a solid 3 stars as there were some spelling and grammatical errors although that's not a huge issue for me it does take away from the magic of the book. The story picked up about halfway through and became interesting and exciting. I plan to try the second in the series to see how that unfolds.
I liked it, but there were many grammatical errors. As long as those don't bother you, as a reader, then this is an interesting story. I live in Kentucky, and yes I even live in a "dry" town, meaning no alcohol sold. I have heard many old wives tales, but not as many as in this book. I loved the Taryn book series, so I'm looking forward to the second in this series.
I really enjoy this book. The suspense was good and kept me reading and wanting to know more. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star was because of the typos.
