This is an account of my documentary research conducted in Hillbrow between January 20th and February 4th of 1997 for a BBC Documentary entitled THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS, and describes a series of interviews with criminals that resulted in the deaths of most of the interviewees involved. It was my suicidal journey through Hillbrow, and the description of a reckless journey towards death...that became a journey to new life. It is the account of the gift of grace afforded to a lapsed Catholic in the midst of extreme desperation, depravity and ‘sin’... It has taken me twenty years to pluck up the courage to revisit these memories…
