Book #5 of the Brides of Mill Ridge

Will she be able to find the treasure in time?

Mill Ridge, once a lawless town, was brought to its knees by Sheriff Nightingale and the good folks of Wichita Falls. They invested in the town to make it better for all. With new faces and more people heading west, Mill Ridge is growing by leaps and bounds. It’s a place for second chances, for starting over on the Texas prairie, where life is hard but worth the struggle to live according to a man's own terms.

I really love this series. Jennie has taken it upon herself to earn teaching credentials. She plans to move to the town of Mill Ridge to take on the role of a teacher in a brand new school. She also has an ulterior motive for moving to Mill Ridge. She plans to follow a map left to her by her Mother who has passed away. The map leads to a treasure. A journal kept by her grandmother and this journal addresses her families Indian Heritage. Unbeknownst to Jennie, a Pinkerton agent, Mack has also been dispensed to Mill Ridge to discover and destroy the book and return certificates to the railroad. But.... as in true Cyndi Raye style, love enters the picture as well. Turmoil abounds and the mystery begins. Can Mack and Jennie overcome the obstacles thrown in their path and come to an agreement about the book and each of their needs for how it will be handled? You will need to read this book to find out! I have enjoyed each book, and enjoy characters from past books sprinkle through the series. I know that you will love this book as much as I did. I received an ARC of this book for review. The opinions in this review are my own.
Jennie leaves her home to become a teacher. Her mother left her a map of the place where a treasure in the form of a book was hidden. That book was very important for her mother, it tells the story of her Indian heritage. Her brother wanted it destroyed and hired a Pinkerton Mack to find it. But what will happen when they meet each other and they fall in love? What is more important, their love, her promise or his honor? I really enjoyed this book about love, honor and trust. Jennie and Mack both work hard to honor their promises, with a surprising solution. This was my first book in this series but gonna read the other books too.
Another great book by Cyndi Raye. This book was the story of Jennie Williams, the new school teacher in Mill Ridge, who is trying to find a book written by her great-grandmother. There is a Pinkerton agent, Mack Everett, who is also trying to find that book. The story is a mystery with a lot of really cute situations between Jennie and Mack. This book is so good you don't want to put it down.
I have read a lot of Cyndi Raye's books and each one is better than the last one.
Jennie is the new teacher in Mill Ridge where she has moved to look for a book covering her mother's ancestry. Mack is a Pinkerton agent looking for the same book on behalf of her brother in order to destroy it. A story of love versus honour, what will the outcome be? Cyndi writes American Historical Western stories that for me at least are moving and thoroughly enjoyable.
Wow...that was quite a story. Although, at times, I had a very hard time respecting Mack. I don’t know if I would have been as kind and forgiving as Jennie had been.
Those two had instant passion. And I mean, instant! Although as a Pinkerton, Mack put his job first, which I didn’t understand why that book mattered that much.
Some of the books in this series were very good, others not as good. They all need thorough proofing, not only for grammar and spelling, but for the author confusing names of people and places, omitted words, and use of incorrect or unneeded words, etc. However, I will continue to read this author’s books because I enjoy her stories.
I have really enjoyed this series and this book didn't disappoint. Cyndi Raye is one of my favorite authors and she comes through again with her story of the teacher and the Pinkerton.
Cyndi Raye has great stories filled with twists and surprises. However, she does not have a good editor or proof reader, not sure which. I have still enjoyed her books 📚, but they would be more enjoyable if there were not so many errors.
A well-written story that does a great job continuing the series! This book tells the adventures of Jennie Williams, the new school teacher and Mack Everette, a Pinkerton agent. Very enjoyable plot.
I am so enjoying reading this mail order bride series by Cyndi Raye. She has done a great job giving each of the couples different personalities and changing up the story so each of them holds your interest. I enjoyed the suspense and treasure hunt in this story.
When a legacy of a great grandmother reaches from the grace to never be forgotten will her granddaughter be the one to make sure it doesn’t? Will a rumor around town stop that legacy from going anywhere? Will a man choose two love and leave behind his honor and reputation to help her save that legacy? Will love find them all? Wonderful story with emotions you feel as if you are there. No sexual references or language so anyone of any age can read thus and enjoy a good back in the 1800s story.
You don’t have to read the previous books to read this one but you get to know the characters and town. Which you will fall in love with.
