B. J. Smyth writes spicy, emotional MM romance filled with possessive older men, jealous lovers, and the kind of heartache that hurts so good. His stories explore age gaps, and broken boys who just need the right man to put them back together.

He’s obsessed with writing characters who fall hard, fight dirty, and love fiercely — often with a little drama, a lot of spice, and just the right amount of angst. Whether it's a hot daddy, a manipulative ex, or a jealous flatmate causing trouble, B. J. delivers romance that’s raw, real, and impossible to put down.

When he's not writing, he's probably plotting the next book over coffee, binge-watching queer dramas, or getting inspired by TikTok thirst traps.

If you're here for the spice, the feels, and the messy men who fall hard and fast — you’re in the right place.

Loved this one. It’s kind, honest, sweet and hot. Carter and Frank are so engaging.
A new week, new chances. Carter is very smitten by Frank only his insecurities don’t allow him to enjoy to the fullest. He really needs confirmation when Frank is out of sight.
I loved how these men are around each other. Doing stuff they both enjoy.
We see glimpses of who Frank is... through Carters eyes btw. They are sweet and sweet steamy. Carter yearns for a Daddy, I really hope Frank will be right for him.

This story is lovely written, it provides insight and makes as if you are part of Carter’s life and feelings. Even with some feelings of stress the writing stays with an easygoing flow.
I would love to know how this continues and then... I saw the promises of Daddy Bear #3
That looks very promising... it will be awesome I know for sure!

2.5. Again, very simplistic writing and fairly repetitive. Following Carter's daily routines step by step gives the book a very stilted feel. I'm also not super happy with Frank. I don't feel he's as invested as Carter is; maybe he's just being cautious. It'll be interesting to see his point of view in Book 3. The daddy bit is still minimal, and just kind of mentioned in passing. Hope they explore a bit more in Book 3

Daddy Bear 2
Carter and Frank continue to meet at the swimming pool for a second week and now also in private spending time at Frank's house. They seem to have caught the attention of another swimmer but neither is interested in him.
When Frank's fails to arrive at the pool Carter's insecurities kick in. He messages and even rings Frank but doesn't get a reply so the next day he's in a foul mood when he sees Frank at the pool. Carter wants answers but he wasn't expecting what Frank tells him, his insecurities are now in overdrive!. They make arrangements to meet at Carter's the next evening with Frank meeting Brandon, Carter's room mate. The next night Carter stays the whole night at Frank's where Frank tells him that he wants to get to know him more and to stop worrying.

Another good quick read and look forward to more of these two!

I don't know why this is broken up into installments like this. The collected volume is definitely the way to go. Much of this part felt unnecessary, but it did come together to show Carter's immaturity and insecurity. It wasn't a good bit for him. We see examples of Brandon the annoying roommate that were mentioned in the blurb for the first installment but thankfully absent.

While Brandon was likely meant to be the unlikable one in this part, Carter's the one that I'm not liking right now. Fatphobia isn't something that I expect to read in a series called Daddy Bear. While we are all entitled to be attracted to who and whatever we like, bears tend to bring a huskier man to mind, whether they have muscle mass or soft tissue. Carter doesn't have to be attracted to any or every other guy and I don't blame him for disliking how his private moment with Frank was interrupted in the showers, but the way he mentally sneers at Michael for being fat is just unnecessary. It didn't need as much focus as it got and it's just another example of immaturity and insecurity that Carter gets upset with Frank for talking civilly to the other man. Age gaps that aren't specifically in the Daddy/little subgenre stop working for me when one person is clearly a mature adult and the other is nowhere near grown up yet. I don't see Carter and Frank working out.

After reading Daddy Bear I was excited to get my hand on this beauty, I mean who doesn’t want more Frank and Carter!
This book picks up where we left off in book 1 with Carter unsure of his place in Franks life.

This story was relatable and by that I mean we have all, especially during our younger years, have felt that insecurity, possessiveness and jealousy when we are uncertain of the others persons feelings- I thought those feelings were captured well by the author and this i think is what connected me so much to this story

A well executed book, the writing descriptive and believable, the story engaging with just a hint of suspense to keep you enthralled and entertained. It was fun & sexy and ideal for you fans of older/ younger guys/ Daddy kink.
I cannot wait for book 3 to find out some answers...one in particular I’m most curious about... no I’m not telling as that would spoil it, but you would be wise to pick this series up and find out what I’m prattling on about...you won’t regret it!

This is a combined review for books 1 & 2 in this series as I read them both at the same time and each is pretty short.

Another HOT series from BJ Smyth.

I've not read many daddy-kink stories, and they aren't really a favorite trope, but when the author asked me if I'd like to read these two books I thought, why not? I really enjoyed BJ Smyth's David series and I also enjoyed these first two books in his Daddy Bear series.

These are very short reads and they are pretty smoking hot and titillating; perfect for reading right before bedtime. You really need to read them in order and there will be more coming. While neither one of these exactly ends on a cliffhanger, both of them will leave you wanting to read more about the relationship between Carter and Frank.

I'm looking forward to reading more stories about these two.

An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

3.5 stars.🌟 A fast paced short story for Carter and Frank. Told from Carter POV, which I'm still getting used to. I still didn't like Frank at the start but he grows on me by the finish. Carter's young age comes through in this. I loved Brandon's character an wondered if there's a story down the road for him.
Carter (20 yrs) didn't know if Frank (45 yrs) is into him after a night at Franks place together. It doesn't help with Brandon putting doubts into his mind.

Even after just knowing each other for a good week, Carter is becoming invested to the point of obsessive. Without promises of what will happen between them he already throws a tantrum.
But as he says himself, he becomes too easily invested, which is apparent.

Though I'm iffy about Frank after the book so will have to see which way that shifts in the next book, I'm sure certain events will be brought to light then.

This book is written in Carters POV. It picks up where book 1 ended and continues their story. This one bugged me cause Carter was so insecure and was acting like a stage 5 clinger when really they have only had a few dates and haven't discussed anything serious. Also, the title is deceiving. I love Daddy books so I was looking forward to another Daddy read but Frank is no Daddy with the way he acts and treats Carter. I am going to keep reading and I hope it gets better.

Entertaining, sexy, cuddly, with some insecurities that shine on the age difference. But common sense and communication works through so another week in the life of Carter and Frank and a little closer to something. Full of suspense and tension. Another great short story by B.J.Smyth he is the master of short and exhilarating stories.
An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review.

A quick read that continues the story of Frank and Carter. Carter is feeling very insecure about Frank and because of certain events that happen, I don't want to give anything away, it only adds to his insecurities. Have to wait for the next installment to see if those insecurities are warranted or not.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

As usual with this author's books, they are short and sassy, with such a way with words and situations that draw you into the characters, situations and story, leaving you always wanting more. This one does not disappoint and continues his mastery of the short story tease. I am looking forward to the next chapter in this one, only disappointed in that I have to wait a while for it.

Awesome read! This is week 2 told from Carter’s view where we see his insecurities get the best of him as he is starting out his relationship with Frank. You get to see how they start working through some issues and Frank gets to meet carter’s room mate, or as it’s said in the book flat mate. I can’t wait for the next part.

Good continuation

Carter: Daddy Bear 2 , begins right after the first novella ended and continues telling the every day lives of Carter and Frank. The story still held my attention but it felt a bit repetitive . Nevertheless, I am intrigued by next installment as it will be Frank's POW .

Glad I didn't pay for this (Kindle Unlimited).

The prose gets really wearying after a few pages. Almost no contractions, this feels like someone translated it from another language. The characters are flatter than paper and undeveloped, doing stereotypical things (like arranging for a date, not responding, then having sex to make up "all is better".)

Abandoned at 62%, 1 star

I love how Frank and Carter story is developing. Carter's immaturity, self doubt and negative thinking can push a man away, however Frank is learning more about Carter and handle his doubts with the most maturity and reassurance. Can't wait to read the next book.
