This is a an easy to read story set on the island of St Lucia and focusing on a happy loving couple, the beautiful female half of which catches the eye of a magic man, who has grown old and not practised his magic for a long time. When he did in his younger days practise the dark arts he used his magic to fulfil his sexual desires for women but those desires, like his skills, have laid dormant for many years. However, when he spots the beautiful and happily married Solange, he is captivated by her and determined to possess her.
This is a sexy story about love and lust but it is not written as a piece of erotica but an intriguingly romantic story about good versus evil. You will want to keep turning the pages to discover the outcome.

This is my second read from Ju as a paranormal romance tale. I enjoyed White Magic Woman, that I was interested in reading Black Magic Man. Again this is not usually my genre, but I'm glad I found a author that writes paranormal romance that holds my attention wanting me want more. I stayed up all night because I couldn't sleep and read this book until this afternoon, needless to say I could barely put this book down. I really enjoyed Jean in this book as the main character and poor Solange torn between two men. As the story sets in St. Lucia where all the 'magic' seems to happen Jean sets his magic on Solange who is married to Rupert for some years now, but as the story unfolds Jean magic with Solange puts him up for a battle he may or may not can handle...

In a way I felt sorry for Jean and Rupert, most of all Solange (Lange)...the end is what one will have to read to find out who will be the chosen one. I love a suspenseful book with some sexual scenes, the author gives you all of that. A brilliant and fascinating story of love and lust, good vs. evil, and erotica at it's best. The island of St. Lucia makes me really wonder does 'magic' really happens there. As a person who's afraid to find out, I will only recommend this great read!

Black Magic Man was definitely something new for me. It exposed me to a world of voodoo and black magic, that I'd not come across before. That having been said, the story was not so much focused on the black magic, but more on the loving, relationship between the two main characters in this story.

Set in the exotic village of La Souf on St Lucia, part of the West Indies, we meet Solange (Lange) to her friends and her husband Rupert. Newly married and deeply in love, everything seems perfect for this couple until the arrival of the Black Magic Man. Once Jean Louis has set his sights on taking and having Solange for himself, the stage is set for a battle that pits the newly-weds against the evil of the Black Magic Man.

As I said this book is more about the relationship between the two main characters and what a wonderful, hot and sexy relationship they enjoy. This book is not for the underage. The sex scenes are hot and steamy and very graphic. Ephraime has that art of writing sex in a way that doesn't seem dirty or demeaning, but is still highly erotic. I very much enjoyed this aspect of the book.

I enjoyed the story and learnt much about a previously unknown (apart from the odd movie) and ancient are that is still very much alive and thriving in the Carribean. If you are a fan of the paranormal, I'm sure you'll enjoy this adventure. Well worth the five stars I've given it.

From the moment I read the blurb, I just knew I had to read Black Magic Man. It piqued my curiosity to the point, where I just had to find out what kind of powers Jean Louis possessed. Needless to say, once I began this intriguing tale, I couldn't put it down. I'd felt as if Jean Louis had me under his control or perhaps it's Ephraime's writing style that had me quickly turning the pages. You decide...

The story revolves around Solange and Rupert. A newly married couple who can't keep their hands off of one another. I found their story to be sweet, sexy and passionate. The love scenes are emotive and erotic. They are blissfully happy, until the day she meets Rupert for their leisurely stroll home and comes in contact with a cunning stranger. Could he be the Black Magic Man everyone talked about when she was a mere child? And if so, was he coming for her?

Jean Louis hasn't had these old feelings in over a decade. Not until he set his eyes on the beautiful exotic, Solange. Who he feels was his wife in a past life. Someone he loved with all of his heart and tragically lost. Now, he's possessed with getting her back. So much so, that he'll summon his Master if it should come down to that. He's determined to be with the woman who's captured his heart once again. Not even her husband will stop him.

I recommend Black Magic Man to all paranormal romance enthusiasts who love a sexy read. Must be 18..

What a creative book!! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and I highly recommend it. I was surprised to read that the paranormal entities don't have an easy love life. The paranormal aspect of this book is fully explored with lots of creative and realistic insinuations. There's just the right amount - not too much, not too little. There's also lots of romance and sex throughout the book. It's the romantic, fun, want-to-read-more kind of romance and sex. It gets a little creepy at times,
and that's a different type of tension. After all, even erotica novels could use some non-sexual conflict.

There are ebbs and flows in the sexiness, but suffice it to say, it's all sexy. There are also ebbs and flows in the tension. But suffice it say there's always something flowing in great amounts. And it's always delicious. I like it that way.

It seems that most Erotica fans like to enjoy stories with a few good sex scenes thrown in. I'm the opposite. I prefer good sex scenes connected by a loose story. This book is a surprisingly good balance of both preferences. It has a great story line and great make-me-blush sex scenes. I really thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it.

Black Magic Man has now one of my favorite books by Ju Ephraime. If you love tropical tales with a bit of romance, seduction, exoticness, and a story line that involves good vs. evil, then Black Magic Man in the book for you. From the opening, I was drawn in to the world of Solange, her husband, and Jean Louis. These characters are vividly described and I felt I was there with them as the story unfolded. Will the old temptations to practice in the dark art of magic be used once again as the Black Magic Man sets his sights upon the beautiful Solange? Will she be able to resist the charm and stay true to her husband? I guess you’ll have to pick up your own copy and become drawn in as we all are to the mysterious worlds that Ms. Ephraime always delivers. Kudos once again Ju for delivering another book that is sure to become a favorite of millions.

Black Magic Man is a story of a happily married couple and how their life turns upside down just because of the entry of a Black Magic Man.
Lange and Rupert are happily married and living a peaceful life on the Caribbean Island of St. Lucia. Unknown of the threat looming over their heads, one day Lange was eyed by a black magic man. Despite being warned by his master in the past, Jean Louise (the black magic man) couldn’t control his intense urges of making Lange his sex slave. Not able to control his carnal desires, he starts pursuing her and makes her life unbearable by forcing her into something that leaves her agonized, both mentally and physically. Lange realizes that her dignity and womanhood have been violated by a black magic man and decides to fight back the monster out of her life.
The book is written in third person POV and offers a quick and interesting read. To me, Black Magic Man was a real surprise as it doesn’t have any blood sucking vampires or werewolves like other books of the paranormal genre but a black magic man that is far more dangerous and creepier than any blood sucking demon.
The book is a detailed read exploring the cultures of the Caribbean as well as offers readers a glimpse of a bit of Indian culture. Not exactly an erotica but a flawlessly written romantic story, Black Magic Man is a real page turner and an intriguing book about love, lust, and the victory of good over evil.

Black Magic Man by Ju Ephraime is an excellent paranormal romance though I should note that describing this book as paranormal romance doesn’t fully capture its complexity. Jean Louis is the Black Magic Man, known for his feats of magic but with some unknown talents as well. He is drawn to Solange as he recognizes the spirit of a lost love within her. Alas, Solange is happily married. This premise lays the groundwork for the story as we watch Jean Louis call upon his powers to persuade Solange while she fights against his powers.

The author’s prose is lyrical and enchanting, particularly fitting for a paranormal tale. The characters are thoroughly drawn and complicated. This isn’t a simple tale of good versus evil. The motivations of the characters can’t be boiled down to good or bad. The author does a lovely job of making you question and reconsider the characters. You will follow the paths of their feelings and recognize the internal struggles they face. This is a powerful, enchanting and intense story.

Black Magic Man is a riveting paranormal romance that is as chilling as it is sexy. Set on the beautiful Caribbean island of St. Lucia, the story is steeped in voodoo and frightening magic. Jean-Louis is a Black Magic Man who sheds his skin to sexually assault women in their sleep. A fallout with his Master weakened his powers, but he becomes obsessed with the beautiful Lange and will stop at nothing to have her.
I loved Lange and Rupert, the heroine and hero of this story. The way they get together is so cute, and I loved their playful banter. Lange is hilarious. I adored Rupert. He just has something about him that goes beyond being smart and handsome. He’s just ultra sexy. The love scenes simmer and roil—this was an intensely erotic read. The details are sensual and perfect.
So, while the lovebirds are enjoying their life together, Jean-Louis fixates on Lange and begins stalking her—during the day and while she sleeps! Terrifying!
This is a truly spooky love story, but Ephraime manages to give us a truly satisfying ending complete the perfect with HEA!

Okay, where do I start with Black Magic Man? I’m a huge fan of the paranormal and four of my own works fall under the genre. What made Black Magic Man stand out for me was the way author Ju Ephraime wrote her characters, especially Jean Louis. I mean; are readers supposed to feel sympathy for the villain because that’s what I felt as I read this interesting book. Yes, he used his magical powers to fulfill sexual desires but when it came to Solange/Lange, he really did feel something special for her because of a woman from her past.
When I started reading the story I thought it was going to be an erotica but that didn’t happen. Yes, there are erotic scenes in the story but the way Ju wrote and wove them into the plot made it more romantic rather than in-your-face erotica. So, if you aren’t a fan of erotica but still want a story about lust with black magic involved, you should definitely give this book a read. I’ve been meaning to brush up on my ‘romance’ writing skills without making it come across as erotica and I do believe reading this book has helped me understand a bit more about the process.

The characters in the story are Jean Louis, Solange, and Rupert (her husband). All of the characters are fleshed out and that’s what I enjoyed about Black Magic Man. A lot of times writers tend to write villains as evil just for the sake of it but not Ju. She made Jean into a ‘character’, and as I said above, a character that will probably make you feel sorry for him. That’s the thing about Black Magic Man, it will take you up close and personal to the characters and you will get to know how they ‘feel’. You get to read about Jean lusting after Solange and the reason behind it and it will also transport you into Solange’s shoes as she tries to fight him off. It’s a tale of good vs. evil, of one woman’s strength and a man’s desire to take what he wants. Don’t be scared about the page length of this book because you won’t even notice it once you start reading.

There’s romance, lust, and suspense in Black Magic Man. What more can you possibly ask for?

Black Magic Man by Ju Ephraime was certainly a unique read! It was an entertaining romance filled with island voodoo and a struggle for spiritual and physical control. I could not help but pull for the sanctity of a perfect love and marriage between Lange and Rupert, despite her parents' disapproval. Their love was idealistic and mutually shared, causing the reader to root for its survival despite the evil intentions of the black magic man.
The fusion of voodoo, island culture, and black magic was executed in such a way that every fantastic element was believable. The practices were clearly explained with logical ways to fight them, and the strong will of the couple to work together in this fight was motivated by the power of their love.
The three main characters were clearly defined and consistent throughout. Yet, they all evolved in the course of the novel. Lange, at first an ingenue-type heroine, developed strength and wisdom while Rupert, her husband, learned to relinquish his role as protector and allow his wife to use her own knowledge and resources to face the most difficult challenge of their marriage. Even more fascinating was the character of Jean Louis, a spirit from the Dark World who struggled between love and lust. While his intentions are first motivated by lust and a sense of familiarity, he comes to fall in love with Lange, willing to subject himself to pain and possible destruction in order to win her.
The "other world" and its codes and mores are the work of a true artist with an awesome imagination. Kudos to Ju Ephraime! I'll be looking for more of her work!

Black magic man is a story of Solange and Rupert, a lovely couple, who are very much in love with each other. They live in a small Caribbean island and are leading a simple but happy life. Rupert first meets Solange in his brother’s barber shop and instantly falls in love. He dare following Solange and eventually convinces her that they could be a perfect match for each other. And so it proves. Solange goes against her parents and gets married to Rupert.
The day to day interaction between the couple, as their love grows is very interesting, and so are the love making scenes. Come Jean Louis, the black magic man, with magical powers and sinister motive to steal Solange away from Rupert. But Solange is a strong wilful woman, who will do anything to save her and their love from Jean Louis.
The characters are simple, interesting and believable. They are typical Hero, Heroine and Villain. I liked the author’s straight to point writing. There are no clichéd conversations or characters, and that helps the reader flow with the story.
Having a special interest in occult, I’ve different expectations with the plot. Honestly, there was not much in that front, and it’s basically a love story with tasteful erotic scenes.
Standout character is Solange Esnard: Bold, beautiful and decisive. Just like you want your woman to be!
Whether you are looking for a paranormal romance, erotica or simply a love story, Black Magic man will not disappoint you.

A different/good Read
This story takes place on the magical island of St. Lucia, a land where black magic is just another part of the culture. It is easy to get pulled into this wonderfully crafted well detailed story. I loved how detailed the author was in explaining everything, to give the reader a full understanding of everything especially the magic elements. There are so many things going on in the book, love, lust, romance, suspense and intrigue. Solange is happily married and in love with her husband. She is spotted by the black magic man, Jean Louise, and he sets his sights on having her. In the past he has used his powers in order to satisfy his sexual desires for women, impossible to resist. These characters are so well developed, you get to feel that you know them, so much so that at times, I felt myself feeling towards the villain, as he feels that he has a deep spiritual connection with Solange. Will Solange be able to resist the Magic man? Will her love for her husband be enough to stave off his efforts and effects? Pick up the book and see! I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is so weird, and I do mean that in a good way because once I really got into the story – I could barely put it down. I read it one day, for wanting to know what was going to happen next. I love suspense books and this one had me turning the pages as fast as I could. However, this book managed to have me question my sanity, on more than one occasion, because I found myself rooting for the Black Magic Man sometimes. I don’t know why, but I felt for him because of the way he loved Solange. Hell, maybe I’m just a sucker for romance, or something is really wrong with me for wanting to see him get the girl he loved with every fiber of his being. On the other hand, I also loved the chemistry between Rupert and Solange; they were so cute together. And that F'd with my mind because I wanted to see everybody happy, especially the two of them, so I'm really glad that they got their HEA.

If you’re looking for an unusual read with steamy love scenes, and nerve-racking suspense, I would definitely pick this one up!

Brilliantly Written ~ Desire Amidst Black Magic and Voodoo

This book is a rich paranormal erotic romance laced heavily with treachery, desire, and lust—hunger for a forbidden woman happily married. Rich in detail, with a depth of descriptions and character development, the author leaves you longing for a positive ending for everyone. Can that be?
The struggle between the Dark Forces of Evil and Good was clearly defined, yet like the game from childhood, tug-of-war, the developing story and enrichment of the characters as they grew had the inevitable pull of back and forth, ratcheting up the suspense and intrigue. Ms Ephraime has a clear strong style, eloquent, flowingly articulate and classic weaving love, lust, desire, trickery and tension throughout the fabric of this novel.
The locale is a colorful canvas for this very intriguing story. I have been bitten by the brilliant talent of Ms Ephraime and recommend that you indulge yourself in the clever, artful, mystical entertaining world she constructs of desire amidst black magic and voodoo.

If you asked me in what genre I would place this book, I would be hard pressed for an answer. Going by the name and the blurb, I expected a paranormal theme, but this book is so much more. The author weaves in romance, suspense and intrigue seamlessly into her story. The characters reach out to you and at various points in the book I kept rooting for different characters, because of the circumstances and situations that they found themselves in.

I couldn't decide whether Jean was good or bad, nice or not. The things he does are for reasons beyond his control and you kind of sympathise with him. Solange is torn between the two men and having met both, you aren't sure who you want her to end up with and you can't wait to see who it will be. This is the first book that I have read by this author and am sure I will be reading a lot more. I love her writing style. It is lyrical and pleasing. I enjoyed the book and will recommend it.

I do like to read books by this author, and this one is another winner. Together with her signature passionate scenes, Ephraime does an incredible job portraying the villain of the story, The Black Magic Man. She introduces you to him and his black arts, in such a manner that you couldn’t help feeling for him, so by the time he gets to practice his black magic on the heroine, Lange, I was hooked on him. Maybe I’m a bit twisted, because as I eagerly turned page after page of this unusual story, I find myself torn between the three main characters, Lange, her husband, Rupert and Jean Louis, The Black Magic Man. Who will come out the winner in this tale of passion, love, voodoo, and magic? Ephraime does such a remarkable job with this story that I was upset when it came to an end. Brilliantly done.

Love & Lust in the Caribbean

This sensuous tale takes place on the exotic island of St. Lucia. Part of the culture there involves Voodoo, Black Magic, and Obeah. The author weaves these practices into a story about love, obsession, and good versus evil.

The main characters are Solange, her husband Rupert, and the Black Magic Man, Jean Louis. On one of his infrequent trips into the town to get supplies, Jean Louis notices Solange and immediately becomes obsessed with having her. His pursuit is constantly thwarted until he calls on his Master.

The love scenes between Solange and Rupert are beautifully written. The pacing of the story is perfect. Take a trip to St. Lucia via this story and experience a sexy, exciting story.

Great original take on the themes of passion, lust, jealousy and love-rivalry, indeed the eternal triangle of love and desire. Jean Louis, telepathic sorcerer, has his eyes on Solange Esnard, as she reminds him of his long-lost great love. He sets out to win her, no matter that she’s madly in love with her husband. Solange knows the forces she’s up against, but is determined to fight to preserve her relationship with the man she loves. But can she possibly succeed against Jean Louis, the Black Magic Man, with his near-supernatural powers? Ju Ephraime weaves an unput-down-able tale of naked greed, lust and instinct for survival in this raw, enervating rollercoaster of a thriller-cum-drama-cum-romance-cum-erotica. Not to be missed.

Exceptional read! This story has it all; lust, seduction, romance, passion, black magic, suspense, exoticness and good v/s evil. The story set in the magical island of St. Lucia, contributes to the tone of this wonderfully written paranormal story. A story of Solange, her husband, and Jean Louis and all the struggles they faced, as the interworks of their lives are unfolded. A must read with thrilling and unexpected twists and turns throughout its entirety.

Amazing character development, engaging plot and overall, a fabulous read. Ephraime does an amazing job with the tale of the Black Magic Man and I'd recommend this story to anyone looking for a "love story" with a twist.

Black Magic Man
by Ju Ephraime
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have been a fan of Ju Ephraime books, but reading this book left me feeling at first entertain but unsure about the romance. Because I usually read Paranormal with a lot more romance, I mean this in a good way. There are a lot of great things going on: the plot , the flow of the book, relationship developments, but I did need answers to the questions of the romance in this book. But thankfully l got my answers with discussions with the author because I enjoyed reading this story, the supernatural is non-stop and when I didn't look for romance the entertainment is there. The supernatural aspect will raise the hair on the back of your neck. The story will make you catch your breathe. This story features Solange (Lange) Esnard, Rupert and Jean Louis. Now I know I can safely say that this is only the second book I have read with a unique world like this.  I became a fan of Ju Ephraime with her Historical books, and I had no idea that this book isn't the usual Paranormal read. You can tell from the first chapter that this book is filled with the unexpected, from its supernatural characters to its heroine, and believe me it doesn’t stop there. The world building is fascinating. Basically, there are rumors about the powerful magic man's hold on the village, when in his possession he could put the man to sleep while he had sex with the woman. But he fail to see that Lange was born to be good witch and she was born to stands as both a slave and a hero. Lange has been hiding the fact that she, too, is galvanized, because it she didn't want to hurt Rupert and end her life as she knows it. But as the story begins, that secret is coming out and she finds that Rupert loves and trusts her. I enjoyed this unique story that I have been so entertain and I just enjoyed the realistic storytelling of supernatural characters intriguing and interesting. The setting description of the island is just breathe taking beautiful. Plus the sexy times is steamy had and the small amount of privacy that couple had because Jean Louis watch them and was totally jealous a lot. Now for some of you it may seem to starts off slow. But quite frankly these books absolutely Bears no resemblance to the usual Paranormal books I read, except that they are both unique, engaging, and generally amazing to read and they are more enjoyable than the usual Paranormal. Also if this review intrigues you at all, give the book to try and think of it as a unique paranormal with supernatural beings then you can read it and stick with it. You’ll eventually see what it is that is making me rave about this book.

Jean Louis' life had been governed by outside forces, first his Master, then the moon, and now the woman who had caught his eye. He was a Black Magic Man, or had been until his powers had been stripped ten years ago. Something about this woman, Solange, called to him, so much so he swore he could feel the stir of the shadows, the return of his nature. The most powerful phase of the moon was coming and with it a time when his powers, should they exist, would be at their height, and he would claim her as his own. He swore she was for him, and not even her husband, who Lange seemed to love passionately, could stop him claiming what he believed was his.

Black Magic Man is the sequel to Ju Ephraime's White Magic Woman, whilst I could not comment as to if the two tales are linked, except by the practice of a black magic, I can confidently state this book is a stand alone story. Lange is the main focus of this erotic paranormal. We meet her and her husband and learn about their love and passion, and especially their intimate life. All the while Jean Louis watches, waiting for an opening to exploit to make her his. Jean Louis seems to use what I believe to be nocturnal Mubobobo to stalk, follow, and hunt the woman he lusts for, and as time passes he grows increasingly more frustrated. It is written in a simple third party perspective that will appeal to people not looking for an overly heavy read, whilst wanting to enjoy details of intimacy and the growing relationships through past recollections and steamy bedroom antics. I enjoyed the subtle cultural aspects of this book, as well as the suspenseful aspects of the plot that keeps you wondering how things will turn out.

Black Magic Man has bits of several different genres that I enjoy reading very much. It also has bits from other genres that just don't interest me. My personal preferences made this book a little more difficult for me to get through and finish. The book well written and set in tropical St. Lucia. It is full of suspense, which is something I do love. The paranormal and/or magic/voodoo is something I am curious about by nature, and enjoyed. I don't personally enjoy many romance books or books that have too much of that theme. There is erotica in the book. That seemed distracting for me. I have the same issue with movies, as my line if thinking is, "Let's get on with the story!" This is a personal preference and no fault of the author. It's also no reflection whatsoever on the writing, story or characters.

The character of Jean Louis, a Black Magic Man, was a little disturbing to me throughout the book. I sort of felt like he was a sexual predator. Jean Louis openly used his "magic" for evil against others, as well as his own sexual desires to give him access to just about any woman he wanted. This is well established from the beginning of the book. I immediately disliked him! Something happened in Jean Louis' life ten years ago that changed his ability to use his powers. He lived a secluded life for those ten years. One day on a trip into town for supplies he noticed and met Lange. She is married to Rupert whom she loves very much. From the beginning she seems uncomfortable with Jean Louis. As the story unfolds Jean Louis uses all of the powers and magic he can to have Lange for himself. The good vs. evil battle is constant.

I truly felt awful for Lange and Rupert. They are a happily married couple whose lives are completely interrupted by the desire of a stranger. A seemingly random glance and meeting send their lives upside down and into turmoil. A decision will ultimately have to be made.

I won't go into the details much more of the choice. I hate to ruin the story with spoilers for other readers. I did enjoy the book. I would have never chosen it for myself. It did make me uncomfortable, but I believe I was just uncomfortable with Jean Louis altogether. If you enjoy romance, erotica, suspense and anything involving the paranormal or voodoo then you will most likely really enjoy this book.

Black Magic Man is a smooth read and flows well. The writing is clear and concise. The characters are very well developed, as is obvious by the issues I have with Jean Louis from beginning to end. Again, if you enjoy many different genres in one book, especially those mentioned above, then this book is certainly for you.

I received this book from the author for my honest review.

I feel like I read a totally different book than everyone else. There are all these glowing reviews on this novel, and it had me pumped to read Black Magic Man, but this novel fell very short for me.

I didn't like a single character. The writing was not my style, I actually caught myself being bored by all the descriptions.

Ex: " getting out of bed she found herself unable to stand. She was sore in a strange way; maybe all the dancing she and Rupert had done. She had not done any dancing in a while, and those dances could take a toll on her body. some of the movements were very physical. She felt the need for a bath. She let the tub fill up, she went in search of the concoction and a couple of aspirins. She walked back into the bathroom and sprinkled a liberal amount of bath salts and gel into the water. She was so anxious for the bath she stepped into the tub before it was filled all the way. She leaned back on her bath pillow and closed her eyes trying to recall the dream she'd had."

First off Why couldn't the author just explain she got into the tub after a night of dancing had left her sore? There summed all that up in one sentence. Number 2, how many times can an author say the word "she"? Lets count just that page. 25x's this author used she on one page. Are there no other words to use? Maybe her name?

I don't know why that specific thing bugged me, but it did. very bad. But the descriptions and unnecessary details are through out this entire book.
Basically for me this novel was a snooze fest. I don't know if I would recommend this one to anyone I know.

This book was given to me by the author, in exchange for an honest review. The opinions here, are my own.

Even the dark ones fall, and when they do, they’ll fall hard. Jean Louis might have been a lot of things but above all, he was just a man going after a woman he wanted. Solange was married but could any woman resist the temptation of a Black Magic Man?

I’ve seen this cover many times and it has intrigued me so much I simply didn’t have any choice but to read this book. So whoever designed the cover, big high five to her/him as it really does stand out from the other covers out there and was the reason I picked this one.

That said, I didn’t read the book description because I wanted to get surprised. And I did! Five stars surprised! I really felt for the characters, yes, even Jean Louis, the villain in this story. Which actually took me by surprise as the relationship between Solange and her husband, Rupert, was so sweet, that at first I was sure I’d end up hating Jean Louis for breaking their happiness. However, I get why he did what he did, so at some point while I was reading this story my table turned and I found myself rooting for Jean Louis.

For me this was a different read, something unexpected and exotic. Very intense and compelling; a delightful surprise on a paranormal genre. Definitely adults only!

This was my first book by Ju Ephraime, but certainly not the last!

P.S. Even though Black Magic Man is a sequel to White Magic Woman, you can read it as a stand-alone. I did and enjoyed it enormously. That said, I’m gonna run to Amazon now and get the first part, too!

I received this book to give an honest review.

I have liked this author's work since I learned of her. She has a way with pulling you into the story with talk of dark magic and islands.
This story is no different than the book White Magic Woman only difference is it deals with a man. Jean Louise he is known as the Black Magic Man he has many talents but he has kind of kept a lid on his true power. When he sees a woman named Solange he is convinced she is the resemblance of a lost long lover and he is willing to do anything to get her to be his. Solange living on the island has heard of this Black Magic Man and when she starts hearing things and feels a spirit around her she knows it is him. Solange has an advantage to defeating the Black Magic Man but will she be able to stop him for good before he does more harm to her?
I have to say the world this author created with voodoo and the island just screams magic and for me to come and visit though I am not sure about a visit from the Black Magic Man. Love and Lust can go together in some way but it is not meant to be in this story.
I really enjoyed how Solange wanted to not stay at home all the time, she had a job before she got married so I was glad to see her convince her husband that she needed to be out of the house.
Her husband Rupert was okay as a character you can tell he truly loved his wife and was willing to go to whatever lengths to help her in her fight with the voodoo.
If you like paranormal romance, voodoo then pick this book up.

A very compelling read by Ms. Ephraime. There is an "old fashioned" story telling quality about this book, I felt like the author and I were sitting around a campfire at night and her words were drawing me in, deeper and deeper, weaving a tale that was eerie, a little frightening, and very compelling.

Jean Louis, a Black Magic Man, who has let his powers lay dormant for ten years, finds his interest in life and magic invigorated when his path crosses with Soulange Esnard. His immediate attraction to her leads him to doing anything he can to find a way into her house and her heart. It is Soulange's love for her husband that builds the barrier Jean Louis and his black magic must penetrate.

Using all the resources he has at his disposal, including a Master Magician (in the dark arts), Jean Louis finally breaches Soulange's barriers. The culmination of the story, where Jean Louis and Soulange finally meet soul to soul, is riveting.

The book does contain some dark magic, and from my perspective puts this book firmly in the paranormal romance genre. Ultimately it is the authors storytelling and the creative exploration of another culture that I found most riveting. I would heartily recommend reading both this book.

Romantic and 'steamy' romantic is not at all my genre or something that I have explored so I went into reading this book diving into the unknown.
I found it exotic and entertaining.

So there is this happy house of Lange and Rupert where lots and lots of sex, simultaneous orgasms, showers and cooking takes place. And then there is that guy who spots Lange and decides he 'must have her'. The thing is that he practices the Dark Arts, he is a black magic man who uses his powers to sleep around with pretty girls. In this occasion, because he has to deal with a happily married woman he decides to summon the Master to charge him up a significant bit to be fit for the mission.

I know I was supposed to side with the unsuspected victim but I felt sorry for Jean Luis, the magic guy who had to go through so much ordeal in order to get laid! Plus that he disturbed the wrong woman! I have to say that the bits I enjoyed the most were the fine descriptions of the voodoo practices that Jean Luis employs.

Lovers of romantic fiction will surely fall in love with this book.

Thought-provoking...

Got immersed in the local two-hundred population life from page one. From the book title alone, the reader should know that black magic is involved and must therefore expect an element of darkness to this paranormal erotic fiction. We get dual perspectives in this book and I actually didn't like being in Jean Louis's head at first, because it screamed "stalker."

Jean finds himself attracted to Solange Esnard for strange reasons that he couldn't initially decipher. When he is convinced of their connection from past lives, he forms plans to win her back. The only problem is that in this life she is already married and stays at home while her husband goes out to work.

This book made me wonder: what would you do if you were Lange? Delve into the remote past or live from the present?
