Ruthless Mountain Man

Rate this book
I moved to the mountains to get away from everyone and everything. All I want is peace and quiet and it’s worked well for me over the last decade. But then she moves in next door and disrupts my solitude.

Kylie—my new neighbor—with her smart@ss mouth and destructive dog. It’s obvious she doesn’t belong here with her designer boots and city girl attitude but she’s stubborn and won’t listen to reason. Despite all that, there’s no denying I want her. Her sass and defiance get under my skin and admittedly turn me on. It’s a love/hate relationship in the most inconvenient way possible.

When a snowstorm comes barreling through, it’s Kylie who’s at my doorstep needing heat and food because she’s completely unprepared. Although I’d warned her, she finally admits I was right. Between my hatred for her dog and her distaste for me, things are bound to get complicated.

Secluded in my cabin together means the temperature rises, the gloves come off—but most of all—the arousal and chemistry moving between us reach its breaking point.

**This is a 30,000-word standalone novella filled with steamy goodness and a rugged alpha male! Enjoy!**

I absolutely loved this story!

Loved the chemistry between Luke and Kylie.

Kylie was a firecracker who had an extra sweet spot for her dogs. The dogs themselves were hilarious.

Luke was intense, but in the right way. That man made me swoon with his gruffness.

4 big stars!

This was a 3- 3.5 star read for me. I didn't connect with these characters for some reason. I am a huge fan of this author and sad that this one didn't work for me. Still an enjoyable Instalove read.

Kylie and Luke prove that sometimes mother nature and lady love will team up to make the most stubborn of people bend to their undeniable destinies. When Kylie inherited a remote cabin away from the hussel and bussel of city life, she knew it was just the ticket to starting over. While she may not be survival girl, she is determined to get back to nature and really make a go of it. Just her, her pups, and her annoyingly rude neighbor. Luke could tell from the moment he laid eyes on Kylie that she was a pampered city girl, not cut out for life on the mountain. Not to mention her mutt was reeking havoc all over his property. But for some reason he can't explain, she and her initiating sassy ways light him on fire. When a blizzard hits their mountain home, they have no choice but to hunker down together, but such close quarters inevitable leads to blurring the lines between love and hate.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.

When Kylie moved into the cabin close to him, Luke knew she was trouble. Living in the wilderness Luke had what it took to survive the harsh seasons that come, Kylie in her designer boots and leggings is completely unprepared and Luke plans to stay away. However, when Kylie shows up on his door during a snowstorm with her two dogs Luke lets her in. The spark is there but can they trust that the spark will last.

Chemistry was off the charts from the beginning. I was completely hooked by this couple and wish the story was a bit longer. Excellent.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

I loved enemies to lovers and this one was so cute! They fought like cats and dogs but their chemistry was undeniable.

Luke was what you would expect from an alpha mountain man. Rugged, protective, and a sexy dirty talker! Kylie was the complete opposite of him. She was an outgoing city girl who had no idea about mountain life and came with two crazy dogs. I loved the banter and bickering between these two!

I really enjoyed this one and it was a good story from Jenika Snow and Kelsey King! I hope they write something else together!

This was a good, short story with awesome main characters and the dogs, Rosie & Kozmo were funny as hell, some of their antics made me laugh so much that I have to admit I almost peed my pants, lol :)

I got to say that Luke was a hot and dreamy and complex alpha male. He seemed one thing on the outside to people but once you get to know him, just like Kylie, it's the complete opposite of what you would expect when you first start reading this short read. Some people may seem something that they are not and that's exactly the case here, with these two characters. Ever heard the saying, "Never judge a book by its cover", well that's all I'm saying.

These two had hot, sizzling chemistry and their intimate scenes were blush and flush worthy ;) And yes, opposites do attract so when you first start reading this, you'll think there's no way these two are going to get together and boy are you wrong! They do and get their happy ending with a beautiful baby girl who Luke has decided she's never dating. That scene is in the epilogue and it cracked me up, I was here, dying of laughter and one of my fur babies was looking at me like I lost my marbles. Loved overprotective daddy Luke... even that sounds sexy to me ;)

This is was a great collaboration between Jenika Snow and Kelsey King and we hopefully see more from you two together :) You did great job ladies :)

5 Stars!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, and dirty talking naughty fun.

This is Kylie and Luke’s story. Luke move to the mountains for peace and quiet. Kylie was left a cabin and now just wants live in the mountain with her dogs. She is unprepared for not only her neighbor who is super-hot. But she has trouble with the weather and what she was expecting versus what is happening. With all the back and forth you just must wonder how far they will push before the chemistry that simmers under the anger comes out. When they come together it just might be hot enough to melt the winter weather. Can these two find a way to co-exist? Or will one just have to get off the mountain?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

I really loved, loved and enjoyed reading this story.
Luke moved to the mountains for solitude, built his cabin, started a business of chopping firewood and has the customers to provide income to stay. Peace and quiet. Now there is a new neighbor next door and she doesn't even respect, not just my privacy, but she has two dogs that come over and use his property as their toilet and also get into the garbage and drag it out, tempting the wild life.
Kylie has moved into the mountain cabin, she inherited from her late great-aunt, with her two dogs. Her only and closest neighbor is a man, a really hot man. He chops and splits wood all day. But when her dogs go over on his property the garbage and poop fly.

Now a blizzard is coming. Whose prepared...

I liked how this story started off with the main characters not really liking each other but having to live together for survival. Kylie and her dogs have moved up to a cabin she now owns and her neighbor, Luke, is annoyed at her dog. Living in the mountains, Luke is prepared for the hard winters but when Kylie isn't prepared, he reluctantly offers her a place to stay while the storm rages on. Little by little, they get over their "hatred" of each other and then the sparks really start to fly. This story showed the struggles they went through and how they resolved them. Loved it!

Luke obviously doesn't share his woman's thoughts on certain things, "she rolls her eyes and places her hands on her hips. “He’s a dog, and he’s scared too. That’s the kind of * *** they do.” I feel my eyes widen at the angry tone she’s throwing my way. She’s mad at me? For pointing out the obvious—that her dog is effing destructive?" Luke really does have his limits, “baby, you can’t say my name like that or I’ll have no choice but to be buried balls deep inside of you again until you’re screaming my name.” I liked this book, I really liked Lukr's broody attitude.

I received an ARC for my honest opinion of this book from #booksprout

This was a cute little read, though it was not a book that I just had to finish in one setting. It was still a good read. I LOVED Luke! What a dreamy alpha mountain man.. Kylie was a character that I had a hard time swallowing there were several times in the book she would say or do something and I would be like "Nope, nope totally taking Luke's side on this say youre sorry." LOL. The dogs were finny, and constantly getting into trouble maybe because their mommy wasn't doing a very good job of keeping an eye on them ;) .. Overall a very quick, and steamy winter read!

Worth It

I liked this story. It took longer than normal to read this book. It started slow. It had a lot of back story that just seemed to drag on. However, in the end, it rounded out the storyline and lead to a naughtily sweet ending, with a perfect for this story HEA ending.

Kylie may be a city girl, but she's hoping to change that thanks to her new home in the mountains of Clearview. No, it wasn't a snap decision but one that seemed to be made for her when her great-aunt passed and left her a cabin. Now Kylie and her two dogs are starting their new life and she's loving the peace and quiet. And then Kozmo, he inquisitive German Shepherd, decides to introduce himself to her new neighbor, one who is not at all friendly regardless of how sexy he is.

Luke hates that his beloved solitary lifestyle has been interrupted by someone not made for the winters up there and her dogs, especially the one who continually invades his personal space. Doesn't he understand boundaries at all? The he knows she won't fit in and will only drive him nuts, as will her dog using his property as his own personal outhouse, Luke can't help but be attracted to the beautiful woman.

Luke and Kiley continue to have heated arguments, words being used as weapons, but both know there's more simmering under the surface. Even if they refuse to act on it. It'll bring nothing but trouble and neither need that, especially with a bad storm brewing.

One Kylie is in no way prepared for. Darn Luke for being right about that. But she swallows her pride, ensuring her dogs are safe during the storm trumps any "I told you so" he'll definitely throw in her face.

As Luke and Kylie, and Kozmo and Rosie, are stuck together while the storm rages outside, another is inside as well. Luke and Kylie know they're playing with fire, the verbal sparring the best foreplay either have ever experienced. And when their resolve breaks, when they can no longer deny what they want, the encounter is hot enough to melt the foot of snow outside their door.

Will Luke and Kozmo ever make peace? How will Luke and Kylie pass the time when they're snowed in? What happens when it passes? Is their time together over or has it just begun? Is a HEA possible?

One-click now and follow along as two people, enemies within minutes of meeting, discover a love so pure it outshines anything else. I really liked this book. Not only were the dogs entertaining, but Luke and Kiley were a joy to meet and read about. I love how grumpy he was, and yes, he had reasons, and the fact Kylie wasn't at all intimidated by him. She was exactly the type of woman Luke needed in his life and the depth of his love for her was a beautiful thing to see unfold. I look forward to the next story in the series.- By Elizabeth

Ruthless Mountain Man by Jenika Snow
I received this book from the authors for an honest review.
Chemistry, Chemisty, CHEMISTRY!!!! Holy moly this enemies to lover’s book was awesome!!! SO I will admit I have never read anything from these authors but I see Jenika’s name all the time. SO when I could finally grab a book and fit it into my schedule I jumped. Man am I a happy camper too. Get my pun…camper….mountain wilderness?? Ok lame so let’s discuss…………
Kylie is totally me. She is going to live with her dogs and have a happy life. I like dogs better than humans so let’s go and be wilderness people. But it seems Luke, her hawt and dreamy neighbor, is none to thrilled with her or her dogs…LOL
Luke being Mr. Mounting man is ready to take on the winter and all that it gives you with the crazy temps and life in the wilderness. Our hilarious heroine is so not prepared for this weather and all the wilderness throws at you. This again is totally me….not a planner just a doer.
This book is just so funny watching the couple learn to deal with each other and get over each other’s craziness while also dealing with the insane attraction that is brewing.

Kylie has decided to pack up from the city and move to her aunt's cabin way up in the woods that she inherited. She has brought her two dogs along for company and she is looking forward to this new adventure. But soon reality sets in and her dream life may not be expected, especially with her hot grumpy neighbor.

Luke has lived up in the woods for years and loves his solitude. He had no problem with the older lady that lived next door but this young one that just moved in has no idea what she is getting herself into.

When a storm forces Kylie to head to Luke's for power and warmth she may end up getting more than she bargained for and Luke may find his heart thawing out faster than the ice outside.

This was a great quick read that is hot!!

I loved both Kylie and Luke and their animosity towards each other at the beginning of the book! They each were completely right about certain things about the other which made it so funny when they would call each other out.

The intensity of their attraction to one another was through the roof and you knew they could melt anything with how hot they were together! I loved watching Luke's coldness thaw through the book!

I loved what Luke did for Kylie at the end when her heart was breaking for losing something special to her!

Such a great read!

Ruthless Mountain Man is a quick enemies to lovers read that will warm your heart and your body. It delivers fun banter, stubbornness and fully on sexiness.

Kylie has just moved into her Aunt’s cabin with her two dogs and her new neighbor is frustrating. He can’t seem to stand her dogs, he’s arrogant and he’s damn sexy. No matter what, she’s going to give him a piece of her mind. Yet, when I huge storm comes, knocking out her power, she’s forced to seek shelter from the one man that irritates her the most.

Luke loves his solidarity but that cute neighbor of his has him wanting more. She’s frustrating and her dogs annoy him but every time her stubbornness comes out, he finds himself wanting her more and more. One night with her and he’s ready to claim her forever.

I enjoyed Luke and Kylie. Their banter back and forth was fun but what I really loved the most was Luke’s alpha tendencies. There’s something about that rugged mountain man that just had my fire roaring. Yeah. I just said that.

If you are looking for a fun enemies to lovers romance with a hot alpha and crazy dogs to keep you on your toes, then Ruthless Mountain Man is the book for you!

I really enjoyed this story about Luke, a mountain man and his new neighbor Kylie. Kylie moved into her aunt's mountain cabin after her aunt died and left it to her. Kylie lived with her two dogs. When Luke first met Kylie she was looking for her dog and he thought she was trying to get close to a stray so he tackled her into the snow. They had a fight about the dog and Kylie thought Luke was a jerk and Luke thought she was a spoiled city girl. When Kylie is unprepared for a bad storm, She knows she has to go to Luke or she and the dogs will freeze. Luke lets her into his cabin and offers her his spare room. Luke wants to "told you so" to Kylie just to annoy her because he really enjoys making her mad. He is very attracted to her and thinks she would be a lot of fun. Kylie doesn't want to be attracted to Luke, but she can't ignore how he makes her feel. When the storm lasts for days, they have to make a decision as to act on their feelings or keep fighting them. I really liked Luke. I liked how he annoyed Kylie and how she made him crazy. They had great chemistry and a lot of heat. I loved how the dogs drove Luke nuts, but he knew how much they mean to Kylie. Good one.

This is the first time I’ve read Kelsey King and Jenika Snow together and have to say I was entranced by there story telling from the first page!! Kylie inherited her grandmothers cabin and knows it’s exactly what she needs to make a peaceful life for herself but that is until she is literally bowled over by her Mountain man neighbour.
Luke has been quietly living in his cabin for ten years now and loves the tranquility and solitude it affords him but when he is suddenly faced with a vicious dog and a crazy woman running at the dog he knows he needs to step in and save her from getting attacked. Only problem with his knight and shining armour routine was it the crazy dog actually belonged to the woman he has just wrestled to the ground and what’s more she was his new neighbor, goodbye peace!

A sweet heartfelt read that had me turning the pages in anticipation of the wonderful love story the authors created

This story is short, fast paced and enjoyable. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. This story has a slightly slower pace than the previous books of Jenika Snow’s but it was still fast paced for the majority of it.
I liked Luke and Kylie. The banter and bickering between them was hilarious.
I totally understood why Luke was so annoyed by Kylie’s dog. He was in the right. Yes he was a jerk at times but he was one that was speaking the truth. Kylie actually irritated me a little. Kozmo was cute and his actions made me laugh but Kylie had no control over him. I was amused by Luke’s frustration at Kozmo.
I liked that Luke and Kylie had a lust hate relationship. I honestly think that they loved to hate one another. Their bickering had the passion between them zinging. They both wanted each other yet Luke held off as long as he could. Until he just couldn’t resist her.
The storyline for this story is easy to follow and an enjoyable read.

A sexy comedy that is well written with likable characters. Kylie is the girl next door type that inherits a cabin and moves in with her two dogs to start a new life. Luke moved to the mountains for piece and quite and was not happy about losing his elderly neighbor to two pain in the butt dogs and a sexy women who makes him hard, a feeling he is not used to. The dogs have caused a love hate relationship between the two cabin owners. When an unexpected blizzard creeps up to fast and Kylie is not prepared she has to swallow her pride in hopes this sexy mountain man will take her and her two dogs in through the storm. I really enjoyed this cute story of them surviving the storm and following at the edge of my seat to see if they come out of it lovers ot enemies. I voluntarily reviewed this standalone ARC.

Ruthless Mountain Man - Luke and Kylie
by Anonymous

Ruthless Mountain Man is the story of Luke and Kylie.

Luke moved to the mountains to get away from everything and everyone. He wants peace and quiet and that's what he got until Kylie moved next door. They started out as enemies and Luke was very nice to help Kylie at her time of need. He's not really ruthless as he seemed to be at first.

Kylie is a strong character as well. Very independent but a little immature. She was definitely unprepared for her stay in the mountains. I love her dogs Kozmo and Gracie and how she cares for them.

Good characters with great chemistry. The story line was good and super fun. The characters were well defined which kept me totally hooked until the very last page! I enjoyed this book so much that I read it in one sitting! This book was short but it was for sure steamy. I couldn’t put it down.

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***
This was the first book I have read from either author and it was great! There were some cliche moments where I don't think things would have happened in that way, but you will totally get over it because the book was great. Very fast paced which I also enjoyed because the book wasn't drawn out! Sometimes when books are too drawn out, it can get boring so I am happy with the fast pace.
Luke was exactly as I expected. He was every bit of man throughout the entire book. I loved his dirty talk. It was exactly what I expected! Kylie was completely different. She was chatty and sassy! I loved her. She drove Luke crazy in more ways then one. I was so happy when they finally got over themselves and enjoyed each other.
I look forward to reading the next book by these two!

Kylie inherited her great aunt’s mountain home when she passed. Such a beautiful place to live with her two fur babies would be a delight. She got busy straightening everything out and thought she should start preparing for winter in a bit. Unfortunately, winter decided to drop in early.
Luke was Kylie’s closest neighbor. Tall, big, gorgeous. If he wasn’t such an arrogant jerk, he’d be perfect.
Luke’s new neighbor is a distraction . She’s going to cause him sleepless nights for sure. One negative is her 2 obnoxious dogs. They are disrupting his order.
Suddenly being forced together during a blizzard wasn’t the best way to get to know each other but it wasn’t long before feelings changed.
I love Jenika’s books , Kelsey King co-authored and hopefully will again.
Great book!!
