Bad Things #8

Saint or Sinner

Rate this book
Beware of Beauty…because she’s got the heart of a real beast.

Smart people—and monsters who know the score—fear Josephine Saint. The sexy vampire might appear to be a sensual temptation, but she’s a cold-blooded assassin. Mercy? Jo doesn’t know the meaning of the word. With each successful hunt, Jo slides one step closer to getting the promised prize that she’s coveted—her freedom. Long ago, Josephine made a deal with the devil, and now, the jerk is collecting on the final payment due him.

Find the angel…before he rips the world apart.

Her latest target is Malik, an angel who has gone dark. The fool fell and crashed hard to earth, and now he’s indulging in every sin he can find. And, bonus, the guy has every predator in the land closing in on him because angel wings are highly prized on the black magic market. It’s Jo’s job to find Malik and bring his sexy angel ass back upstairs except…

The angel is already changing…into something new and something very, very deadly.

Malik has his own mission, and it doesn’t involve being dragged back to heaven. He’s ready to lose his wings, ready to pay any price, if it means he can right a wrong from his past. He never expected for Jo to hunt him, and he knows that he won’t be able to control himself when she’s near. Because Jo—fierce vampire, deadly assassin—she’s his charge. He’s been watching over her for centuries. Watching her, and wanting her. Now that he’s earthbound, Malik can finally make the vamp his.

Can a vamp save the world? Maybe…if she can claim a fallen angel’s heart.

With every moment that Malik spends on earth, the darkness within him grows. When angels fall, they change. They become something new—and a firestorm is about to erupt from Malik. When the fire erupts, it will destroy everything and everyone in its path…His only link to sanity is Jo, and if he loses her…Malik may lose his very soul.

The hellfire is coming, and it will rage. SAINT OR SINNER…what will you be?

Love this one too. This series are awesome. I don't think I have to repeat myself what I like about CE books. Ok fine.. You don't have to twist my arm, I'll tell you... Again. 😉
~Strong, kick ass heroine.
~Crazy, besotted hero. One I couldn't believe it either. 😆
~Crazy plot. But I still enjoy it.
~Great secondary characters.
It was great catching up with the baddest witch ever Valerie and her mate.

Can't wait to read who's next, I have an idea who's next!

Everyone knows if Josephine Saint is looking for you, you better hide. Many years ago Josephine made a pact with Luke who was the ruler of the dark at the time. Every ten years she must hunt and kill someone of Luke's choosing. On her last mission and for the first time ever, Luke wants Josephine to retrieve someone alive.

Malik is a fallen angel and Josephine's next target. Angels are not meant to stay on earth. When they do, they begin to change into something dangerous. Josephine needs to bring Malik to Luke within 48 hours or it will be too late to send Malik back and she will have no choice but to kill him. What Luke fails to tell Josephine is that Malik has an obsession and that obsession is her.

I don't think I can say enough about how much I am enjoying this series. Based off titles and description you might think this is a dark series. It's actually on a low scale of dark. There is violence but no cheating or mistreatment between the main characters. In fact, the heroes are pretty protective of the heroines and display jealousy and possessiveness.

There are returning characters in each book but I think the author does a good job of making each one able to stand on their own. I'm looking forward to the next one in the series. ARC provided by NetGalley.

5 - "You just can't trust anyone these days." Stars!

We return to Cynthia Eden’s Bad Things universe with the eighth book; Saint or Sinner giving us Josephine Saint’s story, a very bad thing is ever there was one!

The woman was a monster straight to her core…

I devoured this book, and although I have loved all of the releases from this series, Saint or Sinner is definitely up there as one of my favorites. Fallen-angel Malik was the perfect growly, over-protective alpha that I have come to associate with the author and her men from this series and in her writing in general, and put together with bad-ass vampire Josephine this was a couple whose story I adored.

"You have hunted my dreams for so long that I’ve gone mad for you…"

As you would expect from a PNR/Romantic Suspense title from this author, the twists and turns are plenty, the inclusion of dark and light in brothers Leo and Luke Thorne guarantees that, and I am so looking forward to future books coming from this series.

"She’s mine… and I am hers."

Particularly Celeste, Josephine’s sister who has her own Alpha waiting to claim her (who we were introduced to in this book), and I am betting his attempts at getting her to remember him are going to make for another absolutely stellar read when it’s released.

"You with me..?"

"…Always"

I am absolutely loving The Bad Things series.

Josephine is basically the hit man (woman) for Luke who rules the light now but once ruled the dark. Her next, and thankfully last assignment before she can gain her freedom, is to hunt down and retrieve a fallen angel. She has a certain amount of time to get the job done or the retrieval mission will then be a kill mission as the fallen angel threatens the very world we live in.

Malik has a weakness, an obsession, a reason for his fall. At all cost he must protect his Josephine. Through centuries he has had to stand idly by as he watch death knock at her door and was completely incapable of doing anything about it. Living in the shadows is not conducive to protecting the woman that has transfixed you and therefore, he has taken the one step that will give him what he needs to do so. There will be no returning.

Each of these characters have their secrets, as well as pasts, that are out to not only break them apart but to destroy their very lives. Together, they begin to unravel one evil plot, one evil plan at a time until their own soulless existences are exposed to each other.

I loved this couple and their crazy, maddening manner of dealing with not only what was exploding all around them, but within themselves and with each other. Josephine is one tough vamp. Friends are pretty much instruments she uses to get her job done. Love is something she gave up on long ago. All she wants is to be free. While I loved Josephine, I couldn’t get enough of Malik. Having just fallen, there was a bit of naivety to him except when it came to his Josephine. He spoke a lot of times in simple sentences which were more than adequate to get his point across as most of them amounted to, “My Josephine!” He didn’t grunt, but his character certainly had that vibe to it and that’s one thing I love about my heroes. Malik was completely, totally, over the top jealous, possessive and protective of his Josephine and that fact was proven numerous times throughout the story. Gah! I loved him!

This is action packed with one secret or diabolical plan after another being revealed. There was no down time as amazing secondary characters enter and exit adding more drama, action and information to the story. The steam between Malik and Josephine could be compared to the very hellfire that threatens them at one point, as it is eternal and all consuming. The ending as always made me happy, leaving me content in the knowledge this couple have their happy ever after, even as it sets us up for the next couple.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A completely obsessed fallen angel and a legit badass assassin vamp heroine….. 100 times YES!
This book was such a wild ride of many MANY unexpected twists and turns. When the final villain was revealed I was completely baffled. I had to take a minute and assemble all the clues and make a clear picture in my mind. Which I love to do and for me it means the suspense/mystery was successful.

Hero Malik- he had eyes for only heroine and he constantly pursued her and protected her. Even though Josephine was send to retrieve him.
I loved how their story progressed.

The whole characters in the books were one shady lot. All of them had shades of grey. And still kinda friends I guess.

This is the 8th instalment of the series but you could read it as standalone. I haven’t read all the books yet. But knew many secondary characters before.
Experienced heroine and Virgin hero.
Recommended.

Oh my here we go again with another incendiary story in the Bad Things series. No you are not imagining the Beauty and the Beast vibe as certainly Josephine is a beautiful, mesmerising vampire and Malik the angel who has chosen to ‘fall’ is starting to discover abilities that truly are monstrous. To say that they could set the world on fire is no exaggeration because the chemistry between this couple is Hot with a well deserved capital H !
Yet I’m actually loathe to say too much more lest I ruin all the surprises in store for my fellow lovers of paranormal romance. I can say that at times I wasn’t quite sure how Malik would ever get a handle on his feelings and reactions. I also can say that if you are a fan of the extraordinary twins Leo and Luke ( team Luke all the way here !) then yes that manipulative pair feature strongly. Maybe best of all though is as much as I enjoyed the romance it was the unexpected things about Josephine that blew me away.
I absolutely loved this book and happily recommend it if like me you enjoy a riveting story that pulsates with sensuality, delicious unexpected wit and of course surprises galore.
This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

A kickass heroine and an angel who’s gone dark. A match made in heaven or an explosive combination?

Josephine was just plain cool. She knew who she was and didn’t make any excuses for it. She was dangerous and could take care of herself. Tangle with her at your own peril.

I really liked seeing the “ex”-devil again. Luke was up to his old tricks, planning his nefarious plots, involving everyone in it and assigning them specific tasks, without their knowledge. He’s so wicked and one of the most interesting characters of the Bad Things series.

Now, the fallen angel, Malik, ooh la la. Hot and gorgeous and intense to an extreme. Malik had his own secrets and reasons for falling from grace, literally. It was hilarious to watch him and Josephine try to get the upper hand over each other.

I read this book in one sitting and was up till 2 a.m. because it was so good and I just couldn’t go to bed before finishing it. Omg, it was awesome and a boatload of fun. So many things in the story I just didn’t see coming. And all those funny moments! Saint or Sinner was a delightful read and another excellent addition to the Bad Things series.

Never make a deal with the Devil without reading the fine print and looking at loopholes .... but who knew this also applied to God.

Josephine Saint needs to complete one last mission to pay off her debt and be able to finally move on with her life without being at the beck and call of Lucas Thorne.

A fallen angel can be saved but only under certain conditions and in a limited time frame, after that, no one in the world is safe as death, destruction, and mayhem will result. Josephine is tasked with retrieving such an angel or, if they've reached the point of no return, to terminate her target before all Hell breaks loose.

So, where's a fallen angel to be found? In Sin City of course. Malik is taking full advantage of his recent fall from grace enjoying all the sins to be found in Sin City

* * * *

8th installment in the "Bad Things" series that can be read as a stand alone but with the understanding that readers would lose a small degree of understanding regarding back story info.

This is a contemporary paranormal erotic romance that brings full circle the romance between Malik and Josephine, which has a long standing past though one of the characters is not aware of that fact.

Malik & Josephine. Loved the chemistry between these two characters though for whatever reason I wasn't totally on board with how things played out. Enjoyed the back and forth dance between the two in terms of Josephine's initial end goal and Malik's, but, the twist and turns once they hooked up had some issues for me. That's all I'm sayin'

As for the secondary characters. Time for Lucas to get a little payback Karma in my mind. Not sure how the author's going to make that happen, and doesn't look like it's anything in the near future, but when it does ... epic. Merius and Celeste are obviously being groomed as the next couple in the series. Looking forward to reading that one.

Overall an enjoyable read that has a mixture of action/adventure, mystery/suspense, snark/humor, and adult content romance - toe curling romance that definitely showcases the naughty side of angels. lol

I really like this series, but this one was just okay. I didn't love Josephine and Malik, and I'm not sure why because there really wasn't anything wrong with them. Though I will always love when Luke makes an appearance, and I did enjoy seeing Valerie and Griffin again, those moments were few and far between. Overall it was fine, hopefully the next one is better.

Malik licked along her wrist again. Shivering, Josephine glanced back at him. His right hand held her wrist tightly against his mouth. His left hand snaked down to curl around her hip, and he jerked her closer to him, pulling her flush against his body.
"Someone is healing very fast," she said, her voice a little breathy and a whole lot sexy.
He wanted her. Wanted to fuck her right there as he took her blood. Wanted to strip her and make her scream and moan and come right-
What am I becoming?
The question tore through the fog of lust-physical and bloodlust-that was trying to consume Malik.
"Your wings are gone," she whispered.
They'd turned to shadows. He knew that. The better not to freak out the humans. His wings had been damaged, but not severed.
"How much more…do you need?"
Everything. He wanted to take and take. To bind her to him completely.
But that was the fever, the lust, the craving talking. Controlling him. He still had the strength to resist those dark urges. Barely. Soon he wouldn't, though. Soon, the darkness would take over.
But he'd known that end would come. From the moment he'd made the decision to fall, Malik had understood what the end result would be.
After one more, long lick-a lick that made her shiver again-Malik forced himself to let go of Josephine's wrist. She didn't move, though, but kept staring up at him. Then she asked, voice still soft and husky and sensual, "What does my blood do to you?"
It healed him.
Strengthened him.
Addicted him.
"It makes me want you even more." His rough response was growled.
"That's what happens to me, when you drink. I want you even more."

~

Dorrin's gaze jerked over her shoulder. "Is he with you?" His voice was barely a whisper, and she noticed that his hand had dropped to his holster. Unlike most cops, his gun wasn't loaded with standard issue police bullets.
She didn't answer his question. Not right away. Mostly because she wasn't sure. "I think we're frenemies." No, that was the wrong word. What was the word for a lover who was an enemy? Was there a word? Lenemy?
"He looks like he wants to rip me apart."
She considered things. "I think he usually looks that way."
Dorrin grunted. "I don't see wings. Just a beat-up leather jacket."
"The wings aren't out all the time."
"Huh. I don't think he likes the fact that your hands are on me." Dorrin's narrow gaze was still directed over her shoulder. "Jealous much?"
"I can hear you both," Malik snarled.
Dorrin shrugged. "I wasn't sure if angels had enhanced hearing."
"We do. And I'm only about five feet away. A human could hear you."
She didn't look back. She wasn't ready to face him, so Josephine just didn't. "When I left, I'm pretty sure I told you to stay the hell away from me, Malik."
Dorrin's gaze whipped back to her, then Malik.
"This isn't staying away," she added. "In case you're unclear on what staying away means. This isn't it. This is more stalking."
"I wanted a chance to explain. I think I deserve that."
She wasn't so sure he deserved anything. "At least I didn't pretend you weren't my target."
"Uh…" Dorrin winced. "This feels awkward. Like I've stepped into a lover's spat or something." He cleared his throat. "Jo, are you screwing the angel? 'Cause, you know, when I was in the penthouse, I did smell-"
"Stop while you're ahead," she snapped at him. Werewolf senses. A blessing and a curse.
He stopped.
Malik didn't. She heard the angel advance. She could feel him getting closer. Her body was way too hyper aware of him. That crap needed to stop. He was sent to kill you. What are you going to do? Jump him again?

~

Somewhere within him, Malik knew this would be his last time with her. The beast he'd become-he was too dangerous. He'd have to walk away.
But not before I take her. Another memory to last for the centuries waiting ahead.
Because he could not jeopardize the women he valued most.
The only one he loved.
Love.
The leader of the death angels, and he'd fallen for the undead. Given his heart to a woman who hadn't even known he existed. Who hadn't known he was there when she'd battled her foes. When she'd stood at desolate gravesides and buried humans who'd been her friends. Who hadn't known he'd watched over her when she'd found shelter on distant shores. Who had never known he was there when she'd snuck away to watch families playing at parks. When a sad, wistful smile would curve her lips.
Or when she'd been covered in the blood of enemies who'd attacked her in dark alleys.
He'd been there. He'd loved her every moment. Every second. And Malik knew that despite what he was becoming, he would love her until he left this world.
Her legs parted for him. The most beautiful, sexy sight. For a moment, he just stared at her. She wanted him. She knew he had fangs, could grow claws, that his wings burned-and still she offered herself to him.
He might be bound for hell, but he'd be tasting paradise before he felt the fire.

This is the latest in Eden's Bad Things book. Based on the ending, I'm thinking she'll do at least one more for Merius and Celeste but not sure.

This one wasn't my favorite of the series (that will always be the first one, because, hello, Luke Thorne but I did enjoy it. I just wasn't as into the h and H in this book as in previous books. But still a good read.

I love Ms Edens books but she adds so many outside elements and frustratingly stubborn characters that delay and interrupt the romance. It drive me fucking crazy!!! And its always so unnecessary. I may pick this back up later when I have more patience.

RTC. Gotta sort out thoughts, especially b/c I jumped in at #8 of this series.

_______
27-Jul-2018: Huh. Clearly, I won’t be posting a review prior to publication. My reaction when...

...the NetGalley cover for this book snagged my eyes?
Oooohh, niiice! B/c I've been reading Ms. Eden’s books on & off for about a decade now.

...when I saw today’s email re: approval for this book?
Yeessss! (see above).

My reaction when I logged onto GR ... and realised that not only was book released 3 days ago but it’s #8 in series???
*pop*

My buddies know I’m a bit OCD about reading in series order. *sigh* But it’s entirely my fault for cruising NG at night & failing to notice release date. Eyes got caught on cover, whilst brain focused on one of the best blurbs that I’ve read in a good long while. (Hey, MrsJ, someone knows about paragraphs!!)

No joke—go ahead & read the blurb. Then tell me that a PNR fan could’ve resisted. ;-)

Awesome sauce!
Josephine was a genuine badass, I loved her!!Malik was a Devoted with a capital D BBF, who has to be the sexiest virgin H I've ever read, I adored him and his complete devotion to Jo. A very twisty, turny, bendy plot with the end results I didn't see coming at all. This one reminded me of early Immortals After Dark books ,I was hooked! I think I know which couple is up next but at this point I don't care I just need more!!!!!

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I bought this book and own the whole series! I need to get on the ball and read the ones I’ve missed in this series!

The cover is steamy and on fire!

This is the 8th book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content. I haven’t read the whole series yet, but I do own them. So many book distractions out there that I wish I could read full time, but we all have to work.

This is Josephine and Malik’s story. She is Luke’s assassin, but there is a history. You need to read it to find out. Malik has been watching over her and falling for her, but he wasn’t able to help her until now. Their story is explosive because he will do everything to make sure she is safe. There are all sorts of epiphanies and histories revealed in this book. I really like both Josephine and Malik, but it just goes to show just because something or someone is deemed bad doesn’t mean that there isn’t some good, and vice versa too because it goes both ways.

As with all the book in this series, you never know which way the twisting and turning is going, but it is one heck of an action-packed adventure that is a page-turner. I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for more especially Celeste’s story.

I highly recommend to anyone who loves complex worlds with tons of paranormals mixed throughout where you never know what will happen next! I loved it!!

Review posted on Got Fiction? book blog

I love when Cynthia Eden writes Paranormal Romance, and this heroine was pretty sassy. Her heroines usually aren’t, so this was extra awesome. (her heroines are always smart, strong, enjoyable heroines, but sassy isn’t a word I’d typically associate with them). Josephine was pretty badass on top of it.

So Josephine. Super awesome vampiress, also paranormal assassin. Luke, now the ruler of the light things, calls her up to him. He has an angel who fell and Luke wants her to get him. But for a first time, he doesn’t want her to kill this target. Strictly capture and retrieval only. She has 48 hours to get him and drag his butt back upstairs before he becomes a true fallen angel who can’t come back.

But things never go to plan, do they?

Malik, formerly an angel, recently fallen, doesn’t want to go back. He’s rather enjoying all the sin Sin City can show him. And then there’s Josephine. He’s wanted her for centuries, but he’s never been more than a shadow in her life. Angels can’t interfere.

And here she is, in the flesh, and here he is in the flesh…and ready to sin. But someone is targeting Josephine’s angel, and she doesn’t like to share. He’s her bounty, he’s her angel. She isn’t letting some unknown take him out before she can drag him up to Luke.

This story went in a very different direction than I’d thought it would and I loved every twist and turn. The characters were exciting and fresh, the feel to this whole series has been one I love, and this book makes an excellent addition to the Bad Things series. There’s the possibility of another couple being set up, so if Ms. Eden ever comes back to this series, I’ll be right here, ready to read it. You should too.

Loved it! I have ABSOLUTELY nada...nothing bad to say about this book. Josephine Saint a vamp/Fey hybrid and Malik a fallen death angel, I mean it cannot get any better than this, Lol. Great story filled with action, deception, betrayal, death and that all consuming, take over all your senses love, that only Ms. Eden's characters can provide. Again we have Luke and his twin brother Leo messing around with fate but to hear Luke say it, it was all planned. I freaking love that angel, nothing can beat the love I have for Luke!!! Well except maybe Valerie Storm, now she's the real deal! Fantastic secondary characters and I can almost see a Merius and Celeste match up very soon. Loved it! 5 stars***

This one was a hard no for me, long and boring. The romance is sooooo unbelievable, the H is OBSESSED with her and its seriously off putting and nonsensical I couldn't really get behind their romance. 2 stars because this book is written good, the author writes from different perspectives well and it was interesting, but after a while I just couldn't care less because the romance was annoying me. It is a shame since the heroine was such a likeable character with a good personality and this story had so much potential.

Early Review! Saint or Sinner (Bad Things #8) Cynthia Eden!

In an exhilarating story that has the feel of a ‘Beauty and the Beast’ type tale, Saint or Sinner the eighth novel in the Bad Things series, Josephine Saint and the fallen angel Malik wreaks havoc among Las Vegas, heaven and hell and even into the realm of the Fae.

Josephine and Malik are two very strong characters with lots of charisma, attitude and electrical chemistry that easily draws readers into their story and keeps their entire focus until the very end. The relationship is one rocky road with lots of exciting events and sizzling sparks that captures attention and has readers wondering if this couple will have a happily ever after, a super-hot affair or a knock down drag out fight at any given moment. And that is not to mention the issues and abilities that both characters have that makes them likeable, memorable and in some instances a bit remarkable. Josephine and Malik could set the pages on fire with their passion and enthusiasm for each other and their missions.

This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge of their seat with lots of thrills, intrigue and surprising twists that no one sees coming including the characters themselves. The past throws a couple of wrenches into the present and with Luke and Leo adding their own brand of tension and fire on an already intense series of events, there is no way for anyone to have a dull moment, in fact, I would say that the excitement never ends in this story.

Bad Things is one series with lots of unsuspecting and unique twists that ensures that every story is fun, interesting and packed full of a whole of enjoyment. Then there are the fascinating characters that add unique elements as well as ensuring that I can never get enough of them, so I can’t wait to read the next one.

Saint or Sinner was a complicated, wild & crazy paranormal romance with a sumptuous–and highly unique–love match: a vampire assassin and a fallen angel. Sounds exciting, right? And boy was it ever!

I’m still fairly new(ish) to Cynthia Eden’s Bad Things series but I can absolutely see why fans love it. The plots are filled with twists and turns you don’t expect. The characters are lifelike and are truly interesting. And the world-building is pretty incredible. The selling point with Saint or Sinner was Josephine Saint, our kickass heroine. Loved. Her. So much. She was tough as nails, sarcastic, uber smart, and even though she was basically a killing machine, she still had a code (of sorts) that she followed to keep from going mad like her father had. again, Cynthia Eden doesn't disappoint.
This is a still a favorite series of mine, i liked both MCs, this author never disappoints with her characters.
Even though this heroine was a total badass, Valerie is still my favorite heroine in this series, and Luke is my favorite hero, so it was nice seeing them again in this book.
Great book! can't wait for the next one!

Saint or Sinner is the eighth novel in Cynthia Eden’s Bad Things series featuring badass vampire Josephine and fallen angel Malik. Being a long-time huge fan of both author and this series especially, I’ve had really high hopes for this book and I must say, Cynthia Eden has once again exceeded my expectations.

Josephine has had centuries of experience being a skilled vampire assassin, courtesy of a deal she made with the devil and all she needs is to fulfil her last mission before she is finally free. However her task of finding a fallen angel isn’t as easy it had seemed, especially when said angel is hell bent on making Josephine his. Malik has watched over Josephine for centuries and now that he’s fallen, he is changing into something dark and deadly, threatening to wreak havoc and tear the world apart. Too bad the one woman who can perhaps keep him sane is the very same one hunting him.

Their chemistry is explosive and I especially love Malik’s possessive and protective alpha male moments. It was really fun watching Josephine’s feelings for Malik develop and there’s definitely many “aww” instances when she makes her own sacrifices to ensure Malik’s wellbeing. That being said, their journey is not an easy one, especially with the deep secrets each of them carry.
Besides the wonderfully written romance, the plot progresses with a perfect blend of action and suspenseful moments with Cynthia Eden’s trademark twists that will definitely leave you on the edge of your seats. I also really enjoyed the different realm for a change and the cameos by Luke and Leo as well as Valerie and Griffin. Saint and Sinner is unquestionably one of my 2018 favourites (together with Wicked and Wild of course) and I can’t wait for the next instalment of the Bad Things series.

Saint or Sinner is such a page turner. It kept me at an edge throughout. I just couldn't put it down. Bad things is one of my most favorite series from the author. Like every other book in this series, I enjoyed this one too. Maybe a bit too much. Lol. Who doesn't like a bad boy angel?

Malik, an angel has been watching over Josephine for over two centuries. Obsessed with her, he falls for her. But she's sent to hunt him down. When these two meet, the air is charged with sexual tension. Josephine is hell bent on bringing him in to repay her debt to the Lord of the Dark. But Malik doesn't wish to go back. Let's say he just wish to seduce his vampire. I can't say much without revealing the plot. But I'll tell that this is worth a read.

Malik - Oh, Malik - He's my new official book boyfriend. He's such a sweetie. He's got all bad boy angel persona with heart of gold. He'd do anything for his one true love. Even that's giving his life for her. Josephine is a born vampire, who hunts for Lord of the Dark. When she meets Malik, she's torn between her duty and this sudden emotion she feels toward him. I loved the characters. There are so many. And the story does leave a thread open for a possible sequel. I can't wait.

The action scenes were a treat. I could feel Cynthia Eden magic throughout the book. So many twists and turns.

Luke Thorne, Lord of the Dark does have his unique ways to bring people together. If you haven't realized already, he's been playing match maker role since the beginning without anyone realizing it. He's just so clever. I still have a grudge on his twin Leo though.

I'd strongly recommend this series to any Paranormal Romance lover. You'll definitely not regret reading this one.

Oh I liked this book. I'm wavering between 3 and 4 stars ... I ... think I'll go for 4 for now ...

I liked where Ms. Eden went with Mailk - and Josephine and the "I can touch you" right at the beginning when he sees her <3

I do think Josephine is way more/too nice to Malik that he deserves. She constantly saves her even when he doubts her. (Granted he saves her too - oof those glass shards.)

I want the his feathers turning into dust explained! I'm confused!

There's a lot LOT going on and a lot of secondary characters who have already had their HEAs and some I expect will be soon (hello Merius) ...

The confusion and will they won't they - I mean you KNOW they will - it's a romance. And by "will they won't they" I mean, overcome, not will they have sex.
(Although they don't actually have that much sex either...)

I thought the transfers of power and Malik's unknown powers and such was really cool. A smidge confused about the Fey realm but whatever.

Valerie's story is still my favorite, but this is a close second or third - it's been so long since I read Luke's story I'm not sure which I'd like more but ... this one is up there.
I loved that Josephine is so badass - that she and Malik take care of each other and are such a good pair. That Josephine is so giving and sacrifices herself for others so much - despite being essentially an assassin. (Granted there's always more to the story.)

Also a bit confused about the poisoning thing re: the bite... but whatever! I'll just re-read it!

I L O V E D the Valerie cameo - and how Luke is with her. Those two.
You know, Leo is kinda always "the worse."

C+ maybe C++ ... or maybe B---?

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley and am leaving my honest opinion.

Josephine is a Vampire and basically works as an Assassin. When a paranormal has gone rogue and is a danger she is sent to eliminate the problem. Once she has fulfilled her duty she will be free. Her last assignment is a fallen angel...one who will change her life.

Malik is the fallen angel and he took the fall for a very special reason. From the first time he ever saw Josephine he has felt that she was meant to be his and he will do whatever needed to win her heart.

Both these characters are tough and hard, no emotions rule here. Josephine is shocked with herself when she realizes he has become special to her, she doesn't really understand. Malik just knows she is his...

Danger follows them though and they finally figure out that Josephine is the target, not Malik.
Who can it be?

I admit that this author is one of my favorites. I have read many of her books and always look forward to the next one. This was not one of my favorites. While it has plenty of action with Jo being a kick-ass kind of girl I didn't really like the ending.

I have to say though that there is a great cast of characters and I wouldn't hesitate to read their stories! I haven't changed my opinion on the author either, she rocks!

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

ENCHANTING, INTOXICATING, AND LOADED WITH THRILLS AND THE ETERNAL KIND OF LOVE! I am HIGHLY addicted to Cynthia Eden's Bad Things novels. Each one just gets better, sexier, darker. And Saint Or Sinner was the darkest yet! But in a VERY VERY good way. Josephine felt so much different than most previous heroines in this series. She is 100% tougher and 100% more kick a**! She is tough and sure knows how to take care of herself while Malik is something completely different and unique than most angels. And his obsession with Josephine changes him into something extraordinary and more dangerous than Luke or Leo and that to me, was utterly fascinating.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. For once I savored it, made it last more than a couple days. I still felt disappointed to see it end because it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good, but I felt like I got one heck of a exciting ride. The lust is high and the heat HOTTER than fire and LOVED. IT. This is exactly the kind of lust, romance, and love I look forward to reading. Its the FOREVER kind. It makes me sigh and swoon and just FEEL. I am already aching for the next one!

Saint Or Sinner gets a INTOXICATING FIVE THOUSAND SHOOTING STARS!

I really enjoyed it :)!

Cynthia is building a really vast world for us. I love that the veil is now represented. All the different paranorms keep increasing too. It looks like even more may be created ;).

So we have Luke at it again. It's funny how he's supposed to now be the Lord of the Light. Think he's having a few issues with that. And we have poor Leo who is having the darndest time with his transition to the Light. I'm sure it will all work out after a few centuries, ha ha.

Luke has called Josephine to do his bidding one final time. She has been his assassin of evil paranormals. She is to bring back to Luke an angel who is on Earth before he becomes a fallen. She has 48 hours.

Seems Malik has been watching over Josephine for decades and has decided to "fall" to keep her safe.

Josephine finds Malik and is unable to get him to go back with her. He even breaks through a spelled containment. So they track each other down and are attacked several times. They are unable to determine who is after them and all the while Malik is beginning to go dark, become a fallen.

Full of action and fun. Love Luke and Leo. I think we're nicely set up for another chapter of "Bad Things" and I am very much looking forward to it!

Josephine is a vampire and an assassin and has one more kill before her deal with Luke is done. She has been around for hundreds of years. Malik is an angel who is obsessed with Josephine. When he falls, she must bring him upstairs ( to the good ) or kill him. If not then the darkness will take him over and nobody wants that. Malik can’t believe he can touch her after years of watching over her. There are a lot of people after them and it’s hard to tell who’s an ally or enemy. Malik will do anything to keep her safe even sacrifice himself. But Josephine isn’t letting him go so fast so she gives him her blood. Which that alone is an aphrodisiac to paranormals but his fascination with her makes it even more powerful for him.
Josephine is a witty, bada$$ vamp. Malik is sexy and just wants his Josephine. Another wild ride from Ms. Eden. When you read her books, they suck you in and keep you hooked. This is funny, bloody, with all types of paranormal characters.

The Bad Things Series is continuing so, so well with Saint Or Sinner. Cynthia Eden has written a hit of a series that shows it can stay fresh and interesting, need I say addictive even after seven previous books. There are no creatures that she won’t tackle to give the reader their story.

Josephine Saint is a vampire which is not uncommon in paranormal books, but she is also a killer assassin. I thought that Valeria may be the big and bad female out there, but Josephine is a tie for that title. Malik, well, you should read the book to see what he is capable of doing, along with the way to stop that from happening. The character development is remarkable. Intriguing, compelling read in a series that is like the potato chip commercial, you can’t just read one. Too, too satisfying.

4.5 Stars
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
