I have mixed feelings about this book. It was good to see Steve and Roger again. However, the 'preaching' went over the deep end in this one. The preaching got in the way of the plot. The conspiracy in the book was so involved and convoluted as to be not believable.
There were several plot points I wanted to bring up. The answers may have been buried in the preaching. Probably they were left out to include the preaching.
All the preaching will probably make me skip it if there is a 4th volume of this series. I buy books for enjoyment. I do not buy them to have the things that make me so depressed I turned off the TV news and turn on my reader.

1. When Roger's car cannot be used Steve mysteriously has a car of his own. Where did it come from? Who bought it? Steve's mother wouldn't have. Do Roger's parents have enough money to buy a car for their son's boy friend, even if said boyfriend lived with them. If they had that kind of money, why was the money from the settlements needed for Steve's schooling.
2. What happened to school? The school year is not over yet Steve and Roger are at the pet store in the morning on a week day.
3. What happened to graduation? It would seem that a book about the end of a main character's senior year would include at least a passing reference to graduation.
4. Even working multiple part time jobs, how does Jack afford even a bare bones apartment?
5. Having to work multiple jobs, how does Jack have time for school, or baseball practice or games?
