He sees demons everywhere. Are they real? Or are they simply things he’s imagining?

While this was a short read it was very good but I just cant shake the feeling that it is missing something that I just cant put my finger on at the moment. Maybe I am just left with feeling like I need more of this story to give me that just got done reading an awesome scare glow that I'm just not feeling right now.
After reading any novel, I like to write a short review and then check other reviews either on Amazon or Goodreads. I am not always in agreement but I have never been so far off that I felt a need to change my comments. Demons by Perrin Briar changed my routine. My Kindle download of this novel has a very short story, Demons, that occupies only14% of the download. It is a very quick read that might take fifteen minutes to read. And it is very annoying. Demons is followed by a bonus read, Blood Memory, Book One, the first of a three-novel series. Blood Memory is good and is not at all annoying.
The idea of Demons is good. I agree with all reviewers who wrote the story was too short and they would like to see it more fleshed out. (No pun intended). It is a good story which will cause readers to reflect on schizophrenia. The presentation of Demons is a disaster. I reserved my blue highlighter for incorrect pronouns, grammar mistakes, and vocabulary mistakes. I have a lot of blue highlights. These were not editing mistakes. They were low-level proofreading mistakes. Any spell check/grammar check program would have identified the problem areas. By the time I got to Blood Memory, I felt there was no reason to read further and encounter more unprofessional exposition. For some reason, I continued and I am happy that I did.
Blood Memory describes the efforts of a small group of people to survive the Zombie Apocalypse. The known world did not survive a virus which spread unbelievably quickly but managed to skip our group of survivors because they were on a small yacht. But the yacht can never go home or land anywhere. Eventually, there will be a problem of food, water, fuel, and spare parts for the boat’s engine. The answer is to scavenge from other boats or try to make raids on land where the survivors might find food. The trick is not to become the food.
Relationship action takes place primarily on the yacht before the storm. We find out about the backstories of the six boat residents. They are not family. This part of the story is interesting as it presents individual character backgrounds and describes how they act as a group to solve recurring problems. There is an action element when a scavenging attempt is made on a passing ferry which is “occupied” if you believe the dead can be occupiers. It is in the third element, when the yacht encounters a storm, that the writing becomes very descriptive, good, and worth reading. The first two elements were an entertaining build up. I was amazed by the extremely detailed description of the survivor attempts to deal with mother nature.
If I were rating the novels separately, I would give Blood Memory five Amazon stars for its powerful descriptions. I will read further in the series. The first three books are USD 6.99 in a box set but I will use Kindle Unlimited to read it for free. I would give Demons one Amazon star because I do not believe there was even an attempt to proofread.
I will assign two Amazon stars to this overall presentation as a caution. If an author is going to write something good, as Briar did, why advertise it with something annoying?
The main character is Alex, who has just lost his mother and had to move in with his aunt and uncle and their son. His mother was murdered in front of him by a demon and he has become a Seer, able to see demons hiding inside people and to have superhuman strength. It’s his job now to destroy all the demons to save mankind.
But, as you would expect from this author, there is always a twist in the story. Alex sees demons everywhere around him, but are they real or not? What can Alex do to find out if this is his reality? This is another short novella by the author, a little too short for me, but you get, as usual , an unusual story that will leave you wondering. The rest of the book is filled up with the first book in the Blood Memory series. It’s a good, short read and Blood Memory is certainly worth reading.
Perrin Briar manages as usual to pack a great punch even though this was just a very short story! This was a very tense psychological thriller where we see how the brain can play its tricks on a person, turning a person into a schizophrenic and making him see demons wherever he looks! He is also a megalomaniac who feels he is a hero out to save the world! This very short novel gives us a bit of insight into mental illness, which can occur after suffering a tragedy in one's life. My only complaint is that the story was too short!
Starts out with a boy s mother dead. We find out a little later that his father abused her , this was explained while the boy was killing his uncle, aunt, and cousin. Calling them demons with blue blood. After his aunt dies, he finally sees the blood is red (normal Terran blood) and still within his mind he claims to be a hero.
{Granted most Terrans -at least in there own mind- are all heroes in some aspect. It s a Terran thing.}
So the hero runs away from the house.
The book is well written, it just doesn t do much for me.
This is an interesting book in which the main character thinks that he is seeing demons all around him and attacks them. This is a different kind of book and one that the plot has a different outcome than the reader would expect because it surrounds a preparation for a funeral and all of the drama that goes on behind the scenes.

Demons have escaped from Hell. Can the new seer young though he may be save the world? Then Jordan is pulled from the sea. He as amnesia and thinks it is 2008. His new found friends try to convince him it is 2014. After killing his first zombie he realizes the truth. What happened during those lost years?
Another great in this series and by the awesome author. Alex’s Mom was murdered by a demon and he is a seer. He sees demons, but he’s not sure if he’s imagining things. What a fast paced book that’s impossible to put down. Definitely ready for more.
Demons, my second (very short) read from author Perin Briar, was well-written and enjoyable. The tale developed throughout the length of the book until the surprising end. Each time I read a Perrin Briar book I'm reminded of the Twilight Zone.
There are two stories in this book the first is a short story about demons. The second about the Apocalypse. Both have the taste of great stories, however, neither are very well developed. But both are worth reading.
The namesake Demons is a very very short read. I would have liked there to have been more in it instead of the real meat of the book being Blood Memory. I did like the premise of Demons and the twist but wish it had been more honest in that the book was really a preview of another book.
Alex's parents were murdered by demons. He becomes a seer and begins to see demons everywhere. Are they real? Or just in his imagination? Can he defend himself from them?
"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
I was not impressed with. For one thing it was too short. There were mistakes Alex is suppose to be male? But it kept referring to her. The story was not too bad I just need to read more of. I don't like giving low ratings but in this case I had to. 😔 I would li e to read other books by you.
Wow! Great story! This well written action pack book had me glued to my seat and I wanted more! It was just enough to suck you in real good and then it held you in suspense and zap it ended. What's going to happen next? All I know is, I can't wait to find out what happens next.
