In the mid 21st century, humans succeed in creating our final invention: artificial intelligence. But intelligence can’t be controlled, and as AI makes leaps and bounds ahead of its human creators, humans fight to prevent a war against their own creations. Can we coexist, or will we be the engineers of our own extinction? Welcome to the world of The Inevitable.

On a rainy night, a young woman named Nat is rescued from an assault by Br00-S, a robot trying to hide his identity. Drawn together, the two of them strike up an unlikely partnership. As Nat learns more about the enigmatic robot, she suspects there is something different about him, a secret that, if known to the world, could alter the direction of the future. But she has secrets of her own that need to stay buried.

Pursued by a relentless detective and a terrorist organization, Br00-S and Nat race to find the truth behind a conspiracy that has been building for years. Can they uncover the truth before their own secrets come to light?

I have read all of Ryan Kirk’s books and this a departure from his previous stories. It is intriguing and gritty. It is a believable telling of how much Artificial intelligence will affect our future lives and how some people will embrace it and some people will fight it. This is my favorite Kirk book thus far and looking forward to the rest of the Code trilogy
