Universe in Flames - 5 + 1 Box Set

Rate this book
A terrifying force has risen from the ashes. Something ancient, powerful, and malevolent. It lurks in the shadows, assembling its forces, and getting ready to set the universe in flames.

This Box Set contains the first 5 books of the Universe in Flames saga + a bonus novella.

When the Star Alliance is attacked, ace pilot Lieutenant Chase Athanatos and his friends attempt to survive the total annihilation of their kind. Their struggle for survival brings them to a world far far away, a little planet called Earth. Little do they know that in doing so, they’ll expose humanity to the biggest scourge the universe has ever faced.

Nothing is ever as it seems in this thrilling, action-packed Science Fiction Space Opera series. Greek mythology and fantasy elements add a dab of mysticism and originality to the intense and suspenseful adventures of Chase: a man unaware of his past, a man who must learn to get a grasp with what destiny and the Gods of Olympus have in store for him.

Unwilling to let evil unleash their minions upon every soul in the universe and armed with his courage, convictions, as well as the help of the gods themselves, Chase fights not only for his own survival but for everyone's, on Earth and throughout the galaxy.

I had the pleasure of receiving this set as and member of the ARC. I read all five of the Universe in Flames books and really believe that the author has captured the art of suspense, intrigue and adventure in each one. Recommended reading

(Spoiler Alert)

I try to support self-published and small-time authors, being one myself. I think that there is an audience for every book. I think if I had been 12(when I went through my have space suit will travel Heinlein phase), I would have enjoyed the books, since it an action-oriented space opera. As an older reader, I found it rather predictable and unengaging with uninteresting characters.

There are incredibly long dogfight scenes that feel like world war 2 dogfight scenes were just replaced with ion engines, and laser beams. The author combines Greek mythology, the gods, and uber warriors, the Furies. There were a couple of characters that had the potential to be fun, but they are relegated to minor characters and never developed as they could have been, the Droxian, her companions.

This is a good book to try to get kids who don't like to read, to try it.

I’ve read each of the five main novels in this collection and found them to be uniformly well written and a wildly fun ride. A box set like this really is a great deal for anyone who hasn’t come across the series previously. Great characters, plot and world building, what more could you ask for? But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the box set definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the books in this set are most definitely “ones to read”, and the set is easy to highly recommend.

Fire and smoke

Theses five novels a very fast read. There are many space born battles as well as a brief history of some Greek mythology thrown in. This is basically a good vs bad with the bad guys doing most of the damage as the good guys hang on and try to rally. See how the rally goes and the many twists and turns the author takes the reader throughout the course of these five novels.

An epic sci-fi series. When the Star Alliance is almost wiped out in a series of surprise attacks, the survivors flee to uncharted region of space and arrive in time to save Earth from an alien attack. This box set follows Chase from unruly fighter pilot to an almost godlike being. This author specialises in shock after shock, new and more powerful enemies with each book and really puts his characters through the ringer, and this is only the first five books in the series. Superb stuff.

I got through 4% and couldn't continue. Unrealistic even in SyFy. A fighter pilot without injuries and winning every battle. Also the repiticious of one phrase....blood boiling, blood freeze...in so many sentences.

Interesting

This is basically dragon ball z meets Battlestar Galactica with a few others mixed in, great characters, action packed storyline and some good insights into our own societies around our world

Don't waist your money

This book is long on vanity and short on science. What science fiction it does have is "barrowed" from Star Trek, Star Wars, X Men and Battle Star Galactia. If I could give it a zero O would.

Kindle Unlimited, tho first one might be permafree or whatever. Space opera plus, think that is the 'genre' if you have to have one. I liked it, it having a little bit of almost everything and even some humor although noticed one of the reviews {which only glance at and only after already reading the book} said might have been unintentional...but to my way of thinking maybe the reader just found it humorous. As far as things not being realistic or whatever, well it's space opera and we are not in space for real yet so who knows, besides perhaps the writers of doctor who or star trek or the like, I mean come on Olympian Gods and you are just at what point thinking some things aren't 'real' enough

Earth Last Sanctuary (Universe in Flames Book 1) Fury to the Stars (Universe in Flames Book 2) Destination Oblivion (Universe in Flames Book 3) The Beginning of the End (Universe in Flames Book 4) Rise of the Ultra Fury (Universe in Flames Book 5) Shadows of Olympus (Universe in Flames Book 6) Armageddon Unleashed (Universe in Flames Book 7)

Definitely a page turner!

Well! I could really see this on the big screen. What a show that would be. The images that I have in my mind of all the places I have been so far are so vivid, it would really be a trip! I cannot wait to start the next book.

I have read every book in this space opera set, and I am seriously impressed. I can say truthfully that this is on of the best of this genre that I have come across. I lost several nights of sleep, since I have no self control, and these are the kind of books you just cannot put down. The author has delivered well crafted good-guys and girls, as well as equally well-defined bad-guys and girls. The wars and the places those wars are fought over are equally well crafted. He even made me cry (in a good way), and I am so not a crier. I really don't think you'll find any better space-opera books to read; and, fans of Battlestar Gallactia, Serenity, and Stargate will find that their only disappointment is that the series isn't longer.

Finally, I have to say that if you love the cover, thank Christian again: he is also an outstanding graphic+ artist, and he did the covers of every book in the series.

Extremely captivating!

I am not a sci fan. I found this book by accident while searching for Christian novels. Oops! Well, then I thought it was a Christian novel. The cover sucked me in, and it was free! I am so glad I took a chance. I enjoyed the series and can't wait to read the continuation.

This was a very engaging science fiction/space opera story. It has your typical unwitting hero, personal and professional dilemena's, military conflicts, love interest, deaths, and references to several ancient mythologies. The author interwive all these aspects into a beautiful and complex story which, in my opinion, depicted man"s undying determination to do what is right and good even in the face of overwhelming odds. A very very well written story which plenty if action and surprises to keep the reader engaged and involved.
