It’s even harder to keep a secret that could expose not only your family but an entire species. That’s what Frankie Cavanaugh must do. As the daughter of the leader of the Wisdom Counsel, it’s up to her to step into her father’s shoes until another leader is chosen. It’s also up to her to continue her lineage within the species. She wants to do neither. She considers the shifter gene a curse rather than a gift, robbing her of a normal life. Unfortunately, the Council doesn’t see it that way and is determined to wed her to their next leader – by force, if necessary. Tanner Coalson is fresh out of college and ready to tackle whatever life has in store for him. The first item on his to-do list is marrying the woman he has loved for years. He knows Frankie will balk at the notion because she’s fifteen years older and was his childhood sitter. He’s no longer a young boy, but a man who is determined to win her heart, and he is prepared to do just that. But convincing her they are destined to be together gets much harder when she is kidnapped by an old enemy. In order to survive, Frankie may have to reveal her secret, and Tanner may have to accept what seems impossible, or reject the love of his life.

Warning! Must wear gloves ;) lol ... What an awesome smoking hot PNR must read “CATORI” is from the brand new series, “Legends”! ... I’ve always loved Ms. Adams contemporary romantic suspense works, but this new added paranormal element, which also includes some unique types of shifters but also has our beloved standard ones! A fantastic, fresh new storyline with great descriptions and surprise twists that kept me on the edge of my seat not wanting to stop :D Add in the well defined characters & ever present witty dialogue to some sizzling heat between the H/h and readers will be hooked & turning pages like crazy! ... I never write spoilers or recap blurbs, and even tho I volunteered to beta read this ahead of time, it was without any outside influences and will preorder my own kindle copy to keep with my favorites :D So yes, I honestly recommend this to all 18+ adult fans of fiction! Now I can’t wait for more, but I will ;)
this is the authors first PNR book and I have to say she hit it out of the park. each character has great interaction with the others. the storyline will keep you riveted to your seat until you read THE END.
“I promised my father, in his lucid moments, that I would marry for love, like he did. How can I break that promise?”
I love the backstory of Catori and how the author weaves in the Native American folklore.
Frankie places her life on hold to care for her dad then one year later, after his death, she’s the next in line to sit as leader of the Wisdom Council. A title she doesn’t want but will not allow her father’s reputation to tarnish. She falls in love with Tanner against her better judgment, but he’s not one to give up. He’s been in love with Frankie all of his life. I look forward to reading more from this talented author.
This is a delightful story about shape shifters. There are so many books out about them now, it makes me wonder if maybe, deep in the woods, in remote mountains, they truly exist. It is also based on Native American legend. The story takes place in a small town in the river town of Grafton. It is a small town tucked in a valley with a large Native American population. Very few know about the hidden tribe of shifters in their midst. The residents are trying to rehab the town after a devastating flood. They have rehabbed their Native American museum and tourists are flocking to the town.
When the youngest of the Coalson brothers returns from college, he hopes to win the hand of his former babysitter. This leads him into the unknown world of shape shifters. He is stunned but accepts what happens next. The person he thought was a rival, becomes his friend in this new world.
Well written story and storyline that I couldn’t put down. With a quirky twist at the end, everyone who enjoys this type of story will love this series.
Catori I love stories base on Native American lore. This book grabbed my attention right away. Frankie Cavanagh comes from a long line of Owl shifters. She cannot shift to her spirit animal but she can assume the leadership of the Wisdom Council. In this way she can mate and pass on her genes. She does not want a forced mating and she does not want to have children to pass on the burden of her genes. Tanner Coalson is a human that grew up in the same town as Frankie. He has always had a crush on her despite the 15-year age difference. Frankie is nearing her 40th birthday while Tanner is a new college graduate. She used to babysit him. Tanner knows what he wants and he wants Frankie. Tanner has no idea that shifters live in their town. Frankie is kidnapped. She may be forced to mate with the new leader of the Wisdom Council or face sterilization and or termination. Tanner is willing to rescue her and finds unusual help. Can Frankie and Tanner find love despite the age difference and the oddity of her ancestry? A fun and interesting read. A new version of shifters. I am intrigued.
There are Shifters galore in this entertaining start to a new series.
Frankie holds a secret sacred to her family, one that keeps her in line to take over as leader of her tribe. The only problem was she had made a promise to her father, and it was one she intended to keep.
Frankie and Tanner not only face secrets but a fifteen-year age difference as well. While that may seem to be a large difference to some it didn’t affect this couple, especially in the bedroom. This fast-paced story takes the reader on a ride through a small town, full of secrets, desperately trying to rebuild itself. I found myself laughing along with the characters as each of their personalities show through.
The story leaves off on a cliffhanger and left me wondering what chaos was bound to happen next. I’m interested in seeing where this series goes.
This is Book 1 in the Black Meadows Pack. If you like paranormal books, you will need to read this book. I really enjoyed reading it. It starts out with Julia, Sophia’s sister, in the hospital about she had been bitten by a monster creature as Sophia called it. This is also where Chase, the Alpha wolf, comes into play. Sophia is a geneticist. After Julia turns into a wolf, Sophia comes up with a plan to help her but things happen. This has so much to keep your attention so you don’t want to stop reading. There’s all kinds of excitement happening! And the chemistry between Sophia and Chase sets the book on fire. I really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I really enjoyed this book. Frankie is all business when leadership is called. She doesn’t want it but she will do what is expected out of her. Tanner has been in love with Frankie a long time. It’s time she knows exactly how he feels. Secrets will be told and love will bloom. Excellent writing.
~~~~~~~~~~Tracy's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review~~~~~~~~~~
Frankie and Tanner have always had a connection but recently it just seems more. Frankie has secrets that she knows once Tanner knows he will run the other direction. She is running out of time before her cousin comes after her and her place on the council. Great start to this series. Loved it so much.
An excellent beginning to a new paranormal series! Highly recommend the Tempered Steel Series and follow with The Legends Series
This book is an excellent read. I have read the entire Tempered Steel Series and enjoyed the entire series as you find yourself immersed in mystery, intrigue and steamy nights. Maggie Adams doesn't disappoint as she takes the last of the Coalson brother into the paranormal world.
I really enjoyed this book. Frankie is all business when leadership is called. She doesn’t want it but she will do what is expected out of her. Tanner has been in love with Frankie a long time. It’s time she knows exactly how he feels. Secrets will be told and love will bloom. Excellent writing.
I liked the shifters alliance of Wisdom Council. Tanner was sexy to a point. Seemed he was determined to lead Frankie who was strong enough to lead herself. Other than that slight hiccup I found the tale fun, serious, dangerous and enjoyed it very much. Especially, the sexy parts which were not too many so that they ruined a good story. Thank you, Maggie Adams.
A wonderful story of bloodlines and expectations involved. A shifter, without the ability to shift, and a much younger human. They have loved each other for years. Although there are challenges, they find a way to make it work amidst all the turmoil of her bloodline ties.
As I read this book, I felt like it was a story of Tanner and Frankie coming home. The trials and tribulations that Frankie goes through, with Tanner by her side, make this story one you can't put down... Pam James
WOW A shifter,but can't shift. one hot man doesn't care about the supernatural world, only her. doesn't care that she's older then him. he's loved her for so long. hell stop at nothing to have her no matter what he has help in the form of a wolf and a bear.
I really enjoyed the world-building centered around Native American shifter legends. The leap to romance felt pretty abrupt, though. Overall, Frankie is a very relatable character. Although she does not want to lead the Wisdom Counsel, she knows she cannot allow her depraved cousin to do so. Her journey from mourning and avoidance to standing against the restrictive new leadership was profound.
The narrator did a good job, though I would have enjoyed more vocal variation for the women's dialogue and points of view.
