Armon Ellington died on earth and was transported to Terra, a world governed by rules eerily similar to the RPG games he loved. He found he could gain levels, skills, abilities, and magic just like he could in those games. In addition to finding a way to become more powerful, he also found the friends and family he’d always longed for. Unfortunately, he also discovered the pain of losing them.
Now, Armon finally has the information he’s been searching for. He knows where the kidnapped kobolds that the Imperare took are. A city deep in the heart of the Imperare Empire and a place renowned for its gladiatorial arenas. Now Armon just has to solve the small problems of breaking out of jail, evading capture, getting into Imperare Empire, and coming up with a plan to rescue the kobolds from whomever has them.
Join Armon and his friends on the final leg of their quest to rescue the members of his adopted family, the Red Claw Tribe of kobolds.
This was truly a great story to read I really enjoyed the story from beginning to end.
Watching the MC continually grow and gain confidence in himself and his team was a treat. I really enjoyed the pacing of the story it never seemed to slow down and continued to draw me through the entirety of the story.
The growth from the characters was refreshing to see that they didnt stagnant or give up on bettering themselves.
The crafting in the story is a very interesting take on usual crafting. I enjoyed the new designs and techniques that are developed during the book.
Spoilers contained below......
I truly enjoyed the reunion of his trainers and him after he escaped the prison mine camp. The whole prison experience played a big role in this story and in making him a more complete and tougher player. I enjoyed the role his new class takes and how it seems so flexible.
I enjoyed watching the development of his personal life also it made him more likeable and actually.made me want to root for him even more.
Overall I gladly give this story a 8.5 out of 10 for being a solid and fun adventure I will definitely reread.
The “rescue” could not go slower. It is the rescue of the Red Hand (Red Claw) Kobolds that were enslaved by the Empire soldiers when they massacred the Red Claw Kobold’s village. The author has really no rush to free or rescue the few Kobolds that were enslaved. Main character Armon and his retinue spend months and years to learn new skills, promote and manage new “ice and refrigerator business”, learn and train in gladiator fighting. Because Kobolds enslaved are used as cannon fodder, I do not understand all of this dillydallying that the author has to complete a secondary plot arc of this fantasy-isekai (reincarnated in another world - Terra). Then the hastened ending to this book 3 is anticlimactic. It ends in an open ending, although, this is the last book of this series, and the series was abandoned after this book 3. Maybe the whole story could have been improved by making it a comic-manga-manhwa series instead of a novel series. There was no point to the whole building up of the first 2 books if the resolution was completed and explained in a chapter on the third book.
Dang that was a good read. Ramon had me a bit worried with project alpha but dang. A real page turner though the last 20 percent seemed a little rushed. The story kept me on the edge of my seat wondering how he would free the lost and how he would get out of jail. I don't want to give any spoilers but shit that last boss fight was a real joy. I lived all the nerdy gems thrown in from Naruto to Pokemon it was all great. I tried to picture vraxs voice from the audible but failed lol just means this is a must add to my audible library when it releases. Oh and one little spoiler... I agree with vrax anyone that hates on jar jar is a terrible person.
Compared to the previous books, this one felt quite rushed, like the author wanted to achieve all these bullet points within a limited word count. I fundamentally disagree with the possibility the MC could have beaten a professional gladiator with years of experience and vast more money with a group of low level chars... if the author could have told the story with patience instead of trying to fit all of this in one book I feel it would have produced a much better book. All in all, I still like the series and look forward to future books but hope the author will pace himself and not try to rush story points.
I'm not gonna lie, I barely made it through this one. The world, magic, and story are all solid but there is so little progression that it bothers me. Gamers know the importance of grinding, why would he constantly sacrifice xp and never progress. He amazingly never runs in to any character that can one shot his noob ass even as he defeats what should be high level enemies...it bugs me. I can see foreshadow of some crazy xp grinding scheme coming but there has already been a lot of opportunities lost. I will continue the story for the stories sake but I really hope character progression kicks up a notch.
If your looking for story filled with bandits, gladiators, scorpions and a psychotic spirit look no further. This book delivers in both plot and witty humor in equal measure. We start the story wanting the main character Armon to have things go his way. But when things go badly. He uses his wit and magic to survive with the help of his allies. Here is a book I highly recommend. And I can’t wait for book 4 and for many more books hopefully 10+. Terra is a big place Plenty of stories to have yet to be discovered.
A decent conclusion to the series, though I would have wished for a bit more closure, it seems to me there's a lot of things left unanswered here, so I hope there will be more books in this series, but on the whole, the story was good, the character development was reasonable, and our characters are all setup to go on doing their thing. Future stories in this universe would certainly be welcome, and although I personally don't think all loose ends are tied up, it's not really a bad ending point, so I'd wager most folks will be satisfied with the book as it stands.
This guy, would you call a guy who uses others ideas an author?, no original idea in his brain. If you like your stories to have stories from other people in them then sure read this book but if I wanted to read about star wars, or Harry Potter or any number of other subjects I would read those book. This is a sad guy who writes stories with other people's characters but just changes a few letters in the name. Not recommended and honestly I hope someone stops him from writing ever again
It was great seeing our lovable MC finally catching on to his groove in terms of specialty. Some of the time jumps seemed a little odd at first. But as the story went on and I thought a bit more about actual distance and such the jumps made more sense. The creative thinking that he has is extremely entertaining. Loved this latest installment, can’t wait for the next.
Coming off of Restart (Dark Paladin Book #3) LitRPG Series was certainly a helpful boost for the book. Rescue starts off a bit like The Weirdest Noob or Survival Quest with Armon ending up in a prison mining camp. This doesn't last long, though, and they're quickly off to rescuing the Kobolds again. There's the odd side quest into a dungeon again, but this one is strangely short and seems to be there more to setup a future story line on creating a dungeon.
As usual, there are a bunch of pop-culture references sprinkled through the story, but Mejia does handle it better than Kong does in The Land: Founding. Buuuuut he used a Disney quote in a Star Wars quote battle -1 star for heresy... Then he comes out as unequivocally pro Star Wars EU, with Marries favorite character even being Mara Jade. I mean, Kyle Katarn is better ;) but still +30 stars O_O. I'm officially biased completely in favor of Majia's books.
Most of the book takes place in the city at the end of their journey and involves them training for, and taking part in gladiator tournaments. It's a bit slow, but the ultimate conclusion to it all is pretty good.
Over all about 3/5 stars +29 stars for the Star Wars references O_O, I think I'm going to have to back fill the extra stars.
This book was even better than the previous one. I enjoyed this book a lot and can't wait to see what is next. Given the continuing improvement in quality of the books, I suggest reading the whole series. The first book had plenty of problems and made it seem like this series wasn't worth reading when compared to other LitRPG series, but the second and third books more than make up for the first book's problems. This book stood out as a worthwhile and somewhat above average LitRPG read.
I can recomebd this story wholeheartedly. It shows major improvement over the last book ib the series in terms of character development and storytelling. I appreciate that the protagonist solves problems by coming up with unique plans that exploit the game mechanics to his benefit.
I'm very much looking forward to the next one in the series.
It’s a fun and entertaining story. Very well written and good editing, rare for the genre. There are numerous typos hidden in the text, and the author has become way too fond of pop culture references. And the MC feels a little like he’s becoming a one trick pony with engraving and programming. Still a fun story.
The overall sorry is good. But the many references to copywrited material breaks or for me. I don't mind it when Armond and Mary make the references, but when the world setting does it, it bothers me. Beyond that, it's a fantastic story and I can't wait till the next book.
Love this series as it has quickly became one of my favorites of the LitRPG genre. I can feel myself adventuring right along with this rag-tag bunch and I'm enjoying every step or twist along the way. R.A. Mejia is a me to pull the reader into another world with his talent
Awesome addition to the series! The author went a bit heavy on the joke references, but I enjoyed them enough not to mind. Great to see some more development with MCs personal life, hopefully he gets a lil less clueless in next book, hah!
Excellent read. Totally wrecked my afternoon plans. My only complaint is that the next book is not working at yet. If you haven't had the pleasure is for this series, you should.
The story has a lost twists you don't see coming along with highs and lows that lead into an amazing ending you don't expect. This is one of the best books I've read in a while.
I love the characters in this series. Honestly, I feel pretty invested in most of them. The humor and references in these books also make it extra enjoyable to read :b Keep up the good work!
Speak friend, and enter! I love this series. I’ve been anxiously awaiting the rescue of the kobolds. And Ramon doesn’t disappoint. This book is full of adventure, friendship, a little romance, and interesting plot twists. Check it out! You’ll be glad you did.
Only real issue I have with the book is that the prison break was too brutal on the guards. They never mistreated him (just did their jobs), and the MC apparently never felt remotely guilty about getting so many of them killed.
The story has jumped around a lot, but I’m liking that connections are finally being made to story elements from books one and two. Really helps connect the story. Cannot wait for the next book to see what Armon and company are up to next!
A very feisty story, winding up a plot we’ve been working with for some time. Adding and growing characters, providing great action and drama, then topping it off with some nice foreshadowing. Good work; recommended.
Your books are amazing. Only thing I’m not sure if you’re going to switch between project alpha and AoT? I’ll find out eventually and in the meantime I’ll just enjoy the books you write!
