From master Reiki teacher Lisa Campion comes The Art of Psychic Reiki, a one-of-a-kind, step-by-step guide for learning the sacred art of Reiki while cultivating the psychic and intuitive skills crucial to this healing energy work.
Reiki is a gentle yet powerful, hands-on energy healing method from Japan that’s been gaining in popularity over the last century—not only with bodyworkers and massage therapists in the West but also with medical professionals who can attest to its healing power. Born from the author’s decades of experience with Reiki healing and her own methods, The Art of Psychic Reiki provides everything you need to know about this healing art, including the critical psychic development and empathy training that prepares healers to go out and do the work they were meant to do.
If you’re drawn to the healing art of Reiki, you might be a highly sensitive person, with high levels of empathy, intuition, and latent psychic abilities (a combination of intuition and inner knowing, plus the ability to connect with higher wisdom). And since Reiki is a form of energy healing, many new practitioners may experience what’s called a psychic opening as they learn or practice. For this reason, it’s important that every Reiki practitioner master the ability to navigate their empathic and psychic sensitivities while engaged in this work—and this book can help.
Whether you’re new to Reiki or you’re a practitioner seeking to deepen your knowledge and enhance your skills, with this guide you’ll learn how to use Reiki to heal yourself and others, cultivate and trust your natural intuition, develop your empathic and psychic abilities, work with your spirit guides, and ground and protect yourself as a practitioner of this sacred healing art.
For me, the most valuable part of this book was the information about how to protect yourself as an empath and have more control over whether you're picking up other people's stuff or not. I had fallen away from my Reiki habit, but this book inspired me to pick it back up. I was finding that one call with a client or prospect could suck up all the energy I had for a whole day. I'm super grateful that that is not the case any more. Really good.

Finally, I can distinguish between the two! Thank you!!!!

The exhale breath allows the energy of the emotion to leave the body, which is the desired outcome here.

This is a guide to learning the principles of Reiki and how to develop your psychic and empathic abilities. The author, Lisa Campion, is a psychic counsellor and a Reiki master teacher. The book guides its readers through Reiki Levels I and II though stresses the importance of having an attunement by a Reiki master.
Where it goes off the path of most Reiki books that I’ve read is that it also shows the importance of developing your psychic abilities and getting in touch with your empathy. I understand that in some ways we all have some psychic abilities and intuition about the world around us. When taught Reiki, I was told that sometimes I would “just know” where to place my hands and where the energy was most needed. This book goes much more in depth into how to communicate with your psychic “guides”. I’ve heard many Reiki practitioners talk about spiritual guides but my teachers never stressed that and to be honest, it makes me a bit uncomfortable. I believe Reiki energy comes from our creator and it’s that creator who “guides” the energy to wherever it’s needed most.
I some ways, I think the author over-simplifies Reiki, especially when she talks about giving self-Reiki while watching TV. On the other hand, I felt this book over-complicates Reiki in many ways and may actually turn some people off from doing Reiki. To me, Reiki is very, very simple. I’m just a vessel and I ask God to help the energy flow to where it’s needed. This was an interesting read but I don’t think it added anything to my daily Reiki practice.
This book was given to me by the publisher in return for an honest review.
This book was recommended to me by my Reiki teacher after I attuned to level 1. There are some excellent exercises and good pointers, there's also some stuff that I likely won't use. It's an easy read. This is definitely written by someone who is a psychic first and energy healing is part of that, so don't be surprised by the weight you'll find on the Psychic part of the title. For those using Reiki in tandem with more physical-world modalities there is still solid, good content.
I personally found this book to be quite healing for me. I loved and needed the personal anecdotes about people experiencing and struggling with their psychic gifts.
I’d highly recommend being in connection or making plans to receive your own Reiki attainment while reading this book though. As much of it does focus on the “how” of reiki that cannot be practiced without first receiving an attunement from a Reiki Master.
I thought this was a great informative book! I am a reiki master and I still learned new things! I will be letting my clients and healer friends know about this book I think it is a great book to have whenever you need a refresher!
A really useful book for Reiki practitioners. Reiki attunements can often activate or heighten psychic sensitivities. This book strives to help the reader - contains practical exercises for self-protection and energetic hygiene, and includes helpful information about the nuanced differences between being an intuitive, empath, psychic, medium etc.The book also goes over professional Reiki practices and integrating psychic ability into your practice.
While geared towards Reiki practitioners, empaths/psychics and other spiritual professionals can find useful information here for energetic self-care. This is a book that I'll come back to again and again.
A lot makes sense for me. Purposive, instructional and engaging book.
The authors begin in a very informative way providing the explanations corresponding to psychic, intuitive and empathic gifts, as well as how to develop the psychic ability, clearly distinguishing it from the empathic capacity. Throughout the book are many anecdotes and very useful information that gave me clarity about certain subtle experiences that I had as a facilitator, since I am an empath.
Although there are several books on empath and high sensitive people, this book is focused on the considerations and self-care that an energy healer with these abilities must develop for a balanced practice and maintain their personal harmony. Although I have developed an energy self-care routine, the authors provide important information for those who are still unclear about this aspect. For example, I totally agree on the importance of "Do your own inner work so we can feel easy with other people's emotions and to deepen your connection to your client's emotional processes, and also keep us on continuing to grow", "we should always be in the process of healing, It's a continual process”.
Other very useful topics that are treated in the book to be an intuitive Reiki practitioner are: considerations to schedule and run a session, positions for reiki session level 1 and 2, some guidelines to help you to navigate to client through an emotional release, Psychic protection basics, Types of Reiki Guides, their specific work roles and how to contact them. And I loved that they included an Appendix on Reiki for animals, since I have a strong connection with them.
The book does have some good and useful exercises for clearing your auric field after Reiki sessions and on a daily basis, and for grounding yourself. However, all of them can be summed up in 5-6 pages, the rest of the content is basics about the actual Reiki levels and the hand positions, which is good, but it has nothing to do with the art of "psychic" Reiki, it's simply the basics of the levels which your teacher has taught you when you were initiated, so you practically know them. It also has repetitive stuff like "this is what sets good Reiki healers apart and this is why some healers have queues of clients and others don't." Well, being more caring obviously sets you apart, it doesn't necessarily make you more psychic. Bring caring sets you apart as a human being regardless of whether you're a healer or not. I did like the exercises though. They are a must-do for healers, so healers won't take in from their patients' energies while they're healing them, or even if they have gotten from those energies, they need to clear those afterwards.
Whether you are curious about Reiki Energy Healing, or a Reiki Master, this book is a must-have in your library. Many have rifled through a three day Reiki retreat going from nothing to master level completely unprepared for the spiritual and psychic openings they experience afterward, and being scared away from a profound and beautiful life of energy healing. Lisa Campion brings her down to earth and very conversational spirit to lovingly prepare you for exactly what to expect at each level and how to become the best healer you can be. Because in her words, "The world needs all the healers it can get!" Blessings and Peace Gavin Caster
A solid foundational book teaching the basics of reiki and understanding techniques to manage your energy as an empath, as well as a high level overview of reiki levels one and two. It’s a good book for someone who’s interested in reiki, who is sensitive or empathic and wants to learn more about their gifts.
For me, this book was pretty basic in its content, a lot of the information was a refresher for me in my early journey into understanding energy work. My other criticism of the book is how the author implies rules around certain ways to do reiki, but in another part advises to use your intuition. Ultimately in reiki, I feel the practitioner can do no wrong, as the energy is far more intelligent that our own will. Ultimately, I think the authors message would have been most effective to lean more on intuition rather than rules.
I would recommend it to those new or beginning their journey into learning about energy work.
I found the meditations and grounding exercises provided in this book to be particular helpful. It also followed what I was taught by my reiki masters, almost to a T.
As reiki is a technique to learn primarily in real life (that is, not from a book), the amount of information provided in this book regarding technique was just enough. If you’re expecting a book to be your one-stop-information-shop about reiki, you’re probably in for a disappointment. Instead, take this book as supplementary material, which you can use in conjunction with hands-on reiki training.
(Don’t be turned off by the reviews that focus on psychic guides—this was a very small part of the book and, even if you were to skip that tiny section, you’d get just as much out of the book.)
I got a number of practices from this book that I’ve been incorporating into my reiki, for example: the “sandwich” technique sending energy back and forth between hands on opposite sides of a position to balance the energy between, and an intro to animal reiki techniques at the end! The author goes into clearing and protecting our own energies and connecting with reiki guides in ways that I found to be helpful, including a meditative practice in connecting with guides. I listened to the audiobook and liked that I was guided through the practices that way, however the tone when the audiobook narrator is quoting one of the personal stories included in many chapters is kind of awkward. I would pick up a copy in print and mark it up with some of my favorite elements but I doubt I would read it start to finish again, would recommend!
I have been curious about Reiki. I have watched demonstrations, heard about distance healing and know it can be applied to both humans and animals. I am grateful to Netgalley and New Harbinger publications for the opportunity to read this title. I found the book to be very interesting and very precise. The illustrations are a great help. For some, I think there must be a suspension of disbelief to allow some concepts to be absorbed. The only major controversial topic for me was the discussion of Ouiji boards. A very well done book to introduce the interested and curious reader.
I’m a beginner in reiki and have recently completed my level one. This book explained reiki level 1 and 2 really well although level one says you learn from a chair, my level one was on the table and I’m already doing most of level two so keep in mind that not everyone has the same progress. This book was really good in explaining the basics of reiki and was narrated expertly. I think I will have to listen to it again in a few months time in order to fully appreciate all the good advice from this book.
I requested to read this book off NetGalley because I wanted to know about Reiki. I've heard bits and pieces about the art of healing but never really grasped it. Therefore, reading the first chapter of this book was a bit like getting an information overload, but through simple words. I'd recommend it as a read to anyone interested in merging both healing and embracing psychic abilities.
The author Lisa Campion hit the nail on the head with this amazing book! I can only read it in segments because I want to take it all in. GREAT STORIES! GREAT INFORMATION! Feels so good that I am having a ball reading it! I cannot wait to read her next one! THIS ONE IS A WINNER! I'm sharing it with all my friends because we all need this book for all that we are going through right now.
An excellent book to bolster one's confidence in Reiki and the development of psychic abilities. The author guides the reader step by step through the degrees of Reiki exploring the practitioners' psychic development. I recommended the book to several second level Reiki practitioners who found it very helpful.
I loved reading this book and finished it in 2 days, it’s the book I’ve needed and has answered so many questions I’ve had and google just hasn’t been able to answer them for me. I am new to my Reiki journey and found this to be a great basic guide which I will read a few times over. Thank you
This book was a step-by-step guide in learning about Reiki and helping to improve your intuition and psychic skills. It was a good review, and I learned a little more about Reiki and the power of the subconscious mind. A bit redundant at times. Anyone looking to do Reiki on other people should find a teacher who can work with them in real time - in addition to learning about it from Lisa.
I found that this book will mostly help beginners. The information is kind of repetitive, and I feel that experienced practicioners won't find any new information. Thanks NetGalley for my copy of this book!
Wow, what an approachable, enjoyable, comfortable, knowledgable, and exciting approach to Reiki, especially the psychic/intuitive aspect of it. There was no entitlement or authoritative voice in this text. All I felt was a conversation with a friend. I couldn't put it down.
I got this book for my Reiki I & II certification course and it was great. It is informative, engaging and well written for someone diving into the world of Reiki, whether you are interested in getting your certification or if you are just interested in the art and the connection to psychic gifts.
Found this book to be super helpful in terms of energy management as a sensitive person. Many parts about the energetic and spiritual layers also really align with the 3 year shamanic practitioner training. Will relisten!
I learned a lot of tips and techniques that I will incorporate into my existing practice. I wasn't a fan of the author suggesting the use of white sage smudging, as that is part of closed indigenous practices.
Slightly different techniques than I was taught, but I appreciated the guided meditations she included, and I look forward to doing them again! Great affirmations and encouragement about trusting my intuition.
This was really informative. It was a really interesting read and I learned a lot. One of my passions is learning new things and this was really really cool.
