I looked forward to reading “Promise” after reading book 1 of the series. I was hooked immediately by the characters in the story. They have a real connection that is palpable. Ms St Claire is really talented in her character development. There is amazing chemistry between Sara, a partner at the firm and Trey, the high profile son of a successful San Francisco corporate mogul. They are both very likable characters, each with their own issues. Nothing is blown out of proportion which is something that is usually a given in this genre. There are twists and and conflicts in the plot but they contribute to the whole experience and add to the enjoyment of the book. I highly recommend this book. It was so well-written and I was so pleased that the author took the time to to make sure it was grammatically correct. I get really frustrated with typos, misspellings, etc. this was a book that was so worth reading. It can be a stand- alone but you would not be sorry to read book 1.
Awesome contemporary billionaire romance. Trey works as CEO for a company that his parents started when he was young. He's been in the public spotlight for years. Many see him as a playboy and heartbreaker but his friends and family know different. Most women want him for his looks, prestige or are gold diggers. Sara is a well respected attorney that works for Venture Capitalists. She worked hard to get where she is after being abandoned at a Catholic church when she was only 3 years old. Trey and Sara find things of common interests both work related and outside work. Unfortunately, the press as well as a mole in Sara's company make it difficult for a relationship. I enjoyed the way the author wove the characters past and present into this romance. I received a complementary copy via Hidden Gems and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.
Sara is an attorney and partner whose venture capital firm invests in so many different companies that she works 80+ hours a week. When she meets playboy CEO, Trey, there's an instant attraction. But a relationship will be difficult for the two when she works so much and he's bitter and wary of commitment.
While I liked the premise of this story, and found Sara in particular to be a layered, interesting character, I found I couldn't really get into this story. The writing style is a bit formal and choppy, with a rather old-fashioned feel. The heat level is low, pretty close to fade-to-black, and it didn't help warm me toward the characters and the story. I wanted a bit more passion and strength of connection. I'm afraid I just didn't feel this one, unfortunately.

This is the second book in the Venture Capitalist series and a well written story of a young woman that was adopted after several stints in foster care, then becomes a successful attorney and works for SHN, she has also been hurt by a lying man along the way so she has built up walls, this is Sara and she does not intend to let another man close then she meets Trey, a billionaire and a sweet man who is looking for love even though he too has been lied to by a woman, gold diggers and the predators who just like to use and abuse. He falls for Sara and pursues her until her wall break down. Then of course their past comes back trying to tear them apart. Will they get their HEA? Get your copy and enjoy their journey, I did! My voluntary and honest review for an ARC!I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the second book in the Venture Capitalist series but can be read alone. Sara is a lawyer for a large venture capitol firm and is very successful and has many friends. The one thing she has always craved is a family since she was abandoned age three. This is the story of Trey and Sara who are from different backgrounds. Opposites in so many ways but incredible chemistry that keeps pulling them together. Can their love become permanent and give Sara the family that she has always dreamed of. A great book that was fun to read. Their relationship will take you on an emotional roller coaster but lands with an HEA. I received a complimentary copy of this book with no expectation for leaving a review. This review is being left voluntarily and any and all opinions are my honest thoughts on this book and the authors work. Wow, what a labyrinth of emotions felt throughout the gamut. This book. I bounced all over the place, in the end, in a good way. This book is part of a series where it is a "standalone" but I feel it is best read with the other books for a better understanding of the storyline. Sara and Trey are well fleshed out and complete in their stories, strong development of these characters. This book is well written and cohesive. I enjoyed reading.

Sara has had a hard life well she was dumped on church stairs by her mother when only three and went through 14 foster homes before she was placed with Jim and Carol her life turned around. Now she is a attorney at a venture capitalist company she works 80 hour days and has no life outside work. Trey and his sister CeeCee have had a easy life but have always been in the spotlight he is an embittered divorced man who doesn't believe in love. When he meets Sara there is an instant attraction but will these two damaged souls take a chance that more could develop. there is plenty of suspense and drama to give this book even more depth Overall a great read
I was given a copy of this book but this is a true and honest review
I absolutely loved this book. It’s definitely worth 5 + stars. I was hooked from beginning to end. The story was intriguing and well written. The characters were realistic and lovable, with one I would have been happy to read found the ending he so richly deserved. The plot contained twists and turns. I simply couldn’t put this book down. This is the second story in a series. I’m going to have to read the first now and hope that Ainsley St Claire writes more about this amazing group of characters who are much more like a family than a group of work colleagues. Do yourself a favour and read this book, I highly recommend it.

I thought this was a good book. Even though she just came out of a bad relationship with a married man (that she did not know about). Sara meets Trey and is immediately attracted to him. Trey comes from a wealthy family and has a hard time finding women who likes him for who he is and not his money. As they mingle more, they find themselves liking each other more. I actually read the first book and it continues the story, although you don't need to read that one to enjoy this one. I would have to say I prefer the first book but this was still a good one. Ainsley's writing style has more of a contemporary fiction feel, but the romance wouldn't disappoint you.

I am really enjoying this series and found this book a good continuation of the series. I liked the first book and was excited to continue on with these characters in this story. We had briefly met both Sara and Trey in the first book, but their story was very interesting on its own. Sara is a very hard working lawyer who has made an excellent life for herself from very humble beginnings. Her story of being a foster child and how she goes through her life and relationships because of the experience is a great addition to the story. Then how Trey deals with his fame and notoriety is another great layer to the book. Their relationship felt challenging but realistic which is what I liked about it.
This is book number two in the series and can be read separately but I think they should be read in order as you get to learn more about each of the characters which is so much better. Sara is an attorney and works a lot of hours so have little to no time for dating and this is made even more difficult as she find out her last boyfriend was actually married. Trey is a CEO of his family company, divorced and rather bitter. These two find themselves attracted to each other but you will need to read to found how, when and what happens to them? Good read.

A well written standalone to a series that has such sweet and heartbreaking banter. It is a story filled with determination, perseverance, passion, workaholics, struggles, patience and love. There are twists and and conflicts in the plot that add to the whole experience and enjoyment of the story. Trey, a high profile son of a successful San Francisco corporate mogul. Sara, a partner at the firm, who has has a rough life and just wants to find her biological parents, but finds her fosters and friends are her real family. Trey must find the strength and patience to wait and fight for her. A must read.

3,5 Nice well written story with good characters. They’re attracted, but Sara has to face her ex, who never told her he was married and keeps trying to come back to her, her work, her mother who left her at 3 years old, and her new relation with Trey. Trey has to deal too, with problems like his celebrity because is rich, and the paparazzi, the women who comes near him only to have his celebrity or his money. So, when he finally meets Sara he doesn’t want to let her go even if she keeps trying to escape him because of her problems. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book & read it in one sitting, I couldn't put it down. It was so well written & the characters were interesting & diverse. I will be sure to buy the first book in the series although I am aware this can also be read as a stand alone. It appealed to me on so many levels, no obvious typing or grammatical errors, always an added bonus. the sex was descriptive, it was plausible & truly romantic. I laughed, I cried, it had a hea &did I mention the hot stuff, phew, super sexy!

Sweet story. These characters have their hands full with the mole in the company, but their personal hits keep them emotional as well. With her past driving her crazy, she’s afraid of being rejected...again. The ex certainly doesn’t help matters. He’s trying to find someone he can connect with, but she ghosts him and he thinks it’s because of the paparazzi. I cannot wait to see what’s going to happen next. I’m voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
Sara is successful in her career but there is something missing. Trey is tired of a woman only looking for his deep pockets and nothing else. The twists in this story will have you hooked till the very end. Trey and Sara are perfect for each other and the chemistry is sizzling hot. I enjoyed reading this story and look forward to reading more books by this author.

A sweetly poignant heartwarming story about love and the risk of trusting another person only to discover the joy it brings once you do it. Ainsley St Claire weaves emotions and sexiness into a fun and riveting story with a whole cast of loveable characters I cannot wait to read more about and situations that keep you entranced as you wait to read on about how they're resolved.

Well written, this book draws you into the story with its great plotline. While I did struggle a bit with some of the dialogue, I enjoyed reading the book. The female lead was a bit hard to take at times. Her reluctance to be with someone due to her abandonment issues was difficult to understand. He wasn't her mother. He showed he had staying power. The timelines of things didn't always add up.
Loved this book. You touch so many things in this books it kind of blows your mind. They always have intrigue, turmoil, usually a creepy person, bad guys, great people, friends and family, and a lot of love. The descriptions of the people, their feelings, the scenery and the suspense is great. You cry when things are going bad and smile when something goes so good. Need to start the next book. Written by Cindy :)
Overall I enjoyed this book. I really felt bad for Sara. I can't imagine having to grow up like that and then finding out your birth mother is a horrible human being. I'm so happy that she found Trey. It was wonderful that they both could be what the other needed in their lives.
This was a really interesting story it was really well written and I was pulled right into the story I liked both Trey and Sara they were great together and were really likable characters you cannot help but feel for Sara she has gone through so much. I could not get enough and ended up reading this in one night.
Her ex had dumped her at the church and now 3 years later that she really wants to have a family of her own. She meets someone but he is so different from her as he is so rich. All he wants is a woman who will love him for him and not what he can give them. See if they can make it

This was a good read. I felt for Sara regarding her abandonment issues but I didn’t connect with her. I don’t get why she frozen Trey out after spending time with him. I get she was working through her issues but she still managed to spend time with other people. She didn’t feel worthy but she still should have talked to him.
I enjoyed this book. Sara is a successful corporate lawyer/ partner. She overcame a lot, being abandon as a toddler. Trey is a CEO. When they met, sparks were flying. It great seeing how they deal with a stalker.

Sara and Trey, each have their own issues with trust. Can they overcome them as well as a scandal and media hounding them? They are very likable characters, and it has a great story line.I can not wait to read the next book in the series.
