Ollie Stratford lives in Medlin, Texas with her dog Bodie. This year she started as a full time Professor at Medlin Community College.
On Monday she can't be be late for a meeting with Professor Bingham. But due heavy rain thunderstorm, she arrived late. But fortunately he arrived after Ollie did.
During the meeting Professor Bingham was drunk, he offered her whisky. She had two drinks. Before she left she told him if another position was available for more salary she'd like to be considered as a candidate.
Later that afternoon a scheduled meeting for all professors needed to be there. Professor Bingham would run the meeting.
There was a rumor Professor Arrow in his 70's was going retire. During the meeting Professor Arrow said was not retiring yet. Well Professor Sweet felt he should be given pink slip to fire him. They got into bad fight. I believe Professor Arrow pushed Professor Sweet first. Then Professor Sweet pushed back hard enough when landed hard on the floor and his face was very red.
They felt he had a heart attack. But once coroner's report came in it was announced, he had been poisoned.
There are so many characters in this book you read to read this book.
There's danger ad a lot of things going on, that Ollie and her friend Millie decided, they will try find out who murdered Professor Arrow. Millie is a part time writer for a local newspaper.
Another enjoyable read from NC Lewis. It was rumoured that Prof Andy Arrow was resigning and there are at least 2 others hoping to step into his position. Dan Sweet, much younger, obnoxious, rude and ambitious, implies that he has something on almost everyone and is prepared to blackmail his way into getting the post, and Ava Torgersen, clever, chic, tough but who could play the damsel in distress at the drop of a hat, appealing to the macho man to get her way. But when Prof Arrow drops down dead after an altercation during a staff meeting where Dan Sweet attacks him, it was pretty obvious that Dan killed him; that was until the medical examiner reports that Prof Arrow actually died of poisoning...
I really like the way NC brings the characters to life - you cannot help but hate some of them the boorish rude ones and cannot help but feel sorry for the poor misguided ones and Mrs Hobs who is being bullied just makes me want to fight her corner for her! I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion
I love this series. And you can read the books in any order. This story is well thought out and well written. A college professor is killed in a room full of witnesses. But nobody seems to know who did it. The sheriff is away so Ollie starts to investigate. She meets her friend Millie who works part time for the newspaper for coffee. They decide to work together to solve this case. Who is telling the truth? Who is supposed to take the place of the dead profesor at the college? There seems to be a question about that. Why? Get a copy of this book and come along on this roller coaster of twists and turns. Can you figure it out?
This is the last in series to date. I hope not forever. I read all 7 books back to back, they were that good. One thing I really liked about the mysteries, there were always multiple plausible murderers. This kept me guessing till the very end. Also there was real sleuthing, not just a murder in the beginning of the book and a quick round up at the end, as I see with some cozy mysteries. And the characters had real relationships. Little romance but true friendships where friends and neighbors supported one another. Great books.
Another sweet cozy mistery of Ollie Stratford in Medlin Creek, Texas. Strange things happen in Medlin Creek Community College, where Ollie works. Follow Ollie and meet the Professors and Doctors, but be sure to rest a bit while drinking in Moozoos Cafe', with Millie, the local newspaper reporter. I love reading about Ollie and her nice friend Millie!
Ollie is busy trying to make it on a small salary. She tries going for a raise but ends up in the !middle of another puzzling who-done-it and once again her life is in the balance.
Poor Ollie! For every one step she takes forward she meets with a new calamity!! An unexpected death, burning questions and a promotion sets the stage for this episode. Good story line with the usual quirky characters result in a fod read.
I love Ollie and the whole Creek gang book seven in this cozy series by N C Lewis and I can't wait till the next if you love a cozy with characters you will love and a story that keeps you turning the page then this is a must read
With a play on words in the title, this is a great short read! The plot has twists and turns, good vs evil and survival self defense instructions--what more can a reader want??
I always enjoy reading about Ollie and Millie and the messes they sometimes find themselves in. Love trying to figure out who is guilty before I get to the end of the book.
Ollie gets promoted at work, fired from work, stalked by women with an agenda, and someone tried to kill her. So just your average day in the life of Dr. Ollie Stratford and Medlin Creek Texas.
Until other professors around her think they are going to get the position. Then then the first professor dies at the hands of another professor of did he. Things become crazier and Ollie gets caught in the middle of it.
Another great addition to the Ollie Stratford series. The book pull you in and before you know it the book is over. Love the interaction between Ollie and all the regular characters. Definitely a series worth reading. Looking forward to the next book.
