From a New York Times bestselling author comes a brand new fight for love and money...
My story starts with a plunge into the cold water of Manhattan's harbor. A strong hand hauls me back onto the deck of the luxury yacht. Christopher was supposed to be my enemy.
Let's spend a couple of minutes admiring the book cover art.... . . . . Okay?
Let's move to the actual story now...
I wanted to read about Harper and Christopher’s story since I met them in the book “The Knight” from the “Endgame” trilogy. Harper was Avery’s best friend and she had a strange relationships with Christopher. He was her stepbrother who was not exactly her stepbrother, but he was looking after her and he took care of her fortune.
Both men and money have a way of disappearing when you need them most.
Since then, we met Christopher again in the book “The Escort”. He was Hugo's best friend and apparently he still holds a deep fascination with his stepsister.
It set us on the course to ruin, what made him the white knight to my damsel in distress.
Anyway, “Trust Fund” is the book were everything started.... ..... When Harper’s father married Christopher’s mother, When Christopher saved Harper from the frozen waters, When Harper's father got divorced and married again uncountable times, When Christopher became the executor of Harper's trust fund.
“You’re giving him all the power.” All the power to ruin whatever was between us.
Excellent start. “Survival of the Richest” follows.
This is Skye’s version of the Step-Brother trope, and let’s be honest, Skye’s version of anything is always better.
Harper and Christopher meet each other when their parents marry. At first, they hate each other…duh, they’re step-siblings. It doesn’t get better than when 2 people meet and hate each other right away. These two hate each other so much it’s delicious. Even though the marriage doesn’t last, they find some common ground and keep in contact. I love the letters that these 2 write each other! And they are actual snail-mail letters…classic. I’m usually not a fan of letters in a book, but these 2 are just so adorable and snarky at first.
Harper is a budding artist, a great one. Christopher is a business man, and when Harper’s father leaves everything to Christopher, Harper and her mother must rely on him for funding. The will is so detailed, and Christopher is so honorable (as far as we know. Lol) that he will uphold the father’s wishes. This is the line being drawn between Harper and Christopher, MONEY.
Even in a novella, I get caught up in Skye’s writing. It’s like she hypnotizes me every time with her words, and I have no choice but to love all the things in her brain.
Now we have the story behind the full novel, and I can’t wait to read more about these two. I have to admit. I am a little scared because there is another man mentions in the synopsis of the full book, so I am hoping Skye doesn’t write a love triangle….right, Skye? Right?....Skye?.....Hello?....
Nothing is so cold and so calculating as money in a void where love and hope had been.
The perfect novella lead in for Survival of the Richest. Now I have a good understanding of where Christopher and Harper started out, and why their relationship is where it is. I honestly ache for both of them. They are in such a tough spot, and their past makes it even tougher.
Enjoyed this read, and I’m even more excited for the book now!
It's a good prequel. The drama is juicy and I'm excited to see where the drama goes. Christopher and Harper have a promising chemistry but we'll see how scandalous the first book is.

Let’s just take a minute to appreciate the glorious cover. In Typical Skye Warren style, I was completely absorbed from the beginning, I seriously cannot wait for Survival of the Richest!
Full review will be posted on Survival of the Richest Page.
Great intro of what seems to be a riveting story between Christopher & Harper. Can't wait to see what will happen next in Survival of the Richest This book is a cliffhanger, you have been warned.
We met Harper and Christopher in The Pawn, but now we get to hear their story. This extended prologue to their soon-to-be-released book, Survival of the Richest, was a surprise release to me, and as soon as I saw it, I immediately spent the next hour engrossed. Engrossed in falling in love with Christopher, in wanting to cheer on Harper, and in counting the days until their full story would be in my hands.
From her friendship with Avery in The Pawn, we met her best friend, Harper, and Harper’s step-brother, Christopher. We were tantalized with enough bits and pieces of their odd relationship to whet our appetite and find out more, and Trust Fund certainly delivers.
Beginning at the start of their relationship, we witness the meeting between Harper and Christopher and see the trust build between these two as they both realize how wrong their perception of one another can be. Actions that seem obvious on the surface reveal deeper motives and both show that, despite appearances, there is more than meets the eye.
Picking up this story, I would have known it was Skye Warren’s writing even without her name on the cover. Like Harper, she can craft a work of art that commands attention and shines in its intensity. Her stories effortlessly tell a tale of betrayal, sacrifice and love that is always magnificent, and based on the start we see in Trust Fund, I have no doubt that Survival of the Richest will be a fantastic story that can’t be put down.
I really enjoyed this prologue/prequel novella. It did exactly what it was meant to do, meaning it got me excited to see what will happen next to these characters. I'm intrigued!
I have not read this author since 2011, so when Willow Aster told me to pick up this series, I did and boy am I glad I have some time open on my reading calendar to binge read the series so far.
This was an intriguing prequel and look into the characters of book 1 which I am starting today and I can't wait to see how it will all go!
I, for one, think Christopher is full of you know what so I am excited to continue on this journey with them!
Quick Read. I Really enjoyed this one from the get-go. Enticing and to the point. Can’t wait to jump into the next book to pick up where we left off with Christopher and Harper. I also hope we get to learn more about Harper’s Parents relationship and what went wrong there.
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars! Wow, I can see this is shaping up to be an interesting tale. I like the the whole step brother angle here and well apparently this will also be a love triangle. All favs of mine.
Good God people!! What a story!! Trust Fund was everything I want and love in a Skye Warren story. It was sexy, explosive and sets the scene for all the explosions to come in Survival of the Richest. I was seriously addicted to Harper and Christopher from the Endgame series and Escort but OMG I am ready for the fireworks to come!!
When 15 year old Harper St. Claire's father marries Christopher Bardot's mother, she could never have expected her new stepbrother to rock her world so soundly. They have a deep connection that deepens through friendship over the years but when obligation and duty get in the way of their burgeoning feelings - it's pure fireworks!! I seriously cannot wait for Survival of the Richest! Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula
What a great prequel novella! It's just enough to have readers chomping at the bit for more. Trust Fund introduces us to Christopher Bardot and Harper St. Claire. They get off to a rocky start as step siblings, but these two develop an unexpected friendship and connection. As their circumstances change over the years, so does their complicated relationship. The book is sexy, without being in your face, and this little novella managed to suck me right in. Skye Warren leaves you craving more and I can't wait to see where the story will go next!
Stunning and visceral, it evokes all the right sentiments. From pity to love to despair to apathy. Skye masterfully gives us back story to the Poor Little Rich Girl, Harper St. Claire. her life swinging from Mom to Dad, penury to riches, wants to needs. Her rebellion is anticipated and expected beaches she has to suffer through the conveyor belt girlfriend of Daddy Dearest. The flavour of the season women and her constantly changing stepsiblings. She visits Daddy Graham on his boat Liquid Assetand meets the latest one.
This time is different however. Christopher Bardot is unimpressed stepsibling of this year, who saves her life twice in a short span of the cruise. Somehow he wiggled his way into her heart and her life changes forever. he looks like some kind of a conquering Warrior, like a knight from the old medieval days. the kind who would have defended the peasants, but who would also have demanded his due The story is a great intro into the tumultuous relationship to come. I'm excited to read it 4.5 "Medusa" stars #BookBistroBlogApproved Follow us on : FB - https://www.facebook.com/groups/BookB... In this short story we have Harper, is 15, she the daughter of a billionaire. Harper’s mother and father divorced when she was younger. Her father does pay for her private school and boarding, but that is all. Harper loves to paint and is very good at it.
Harper goes out on her father’s yacht with his new wife and her son, Christopher who is 18, and working on completing his freshman year of college with a 4.0. Harpers father loves Christopher as his own son. Harper knows his mother’s time will soon be up as her father is a serial divorcée.
Over the next few years Harper & Christopher write letters and keep in contact with each other.
Harper has a big art gallery opening and her parents will be in the same room with one another. Christopher is coming also to the opening. Harper’s father cannot believe that Harper’s art is a glorious as everyone has ever said. She is a young protege. Christopher can’t believe her art either, he knew she was good but really can’t believe the pieces she’s out together.
Tradgy strikes and now Christopher will be in Harper’s life for the next five years and possibly longer.
I've been waiting for Harper and Christopher's story from the moment they appeared on the page in The Pawn. Skye does not disappoint! This prologue/prequel is amazing! I'm talking attractio, chemistry, heat, emotion, and some serious twists!
I'm counting down the minutes until I have the rest of their story or at least the next part of it in my hands! No one does a prologues and prequels like Skye. I can't wait to read Survival of the Richest!
Only Skye Warren can capture me with a novella. Only her words can leave me so breathless with an exhilarating and visceral read. Trust Fund is the amazing prequel to Survival of the Richest with so much depth and emotion that absolutely leave me in stitches. A prequel to mesmerize you. A prequel to leave you craving. Trust Fund is a perfect start to a series that I am definitely going to love.
"Both Men and money have a way of disappearing when you need them most. It's something I learned early, but clearly I needed to learn it again."
Harper spends the summers aboard her father's yacht. Being the daughter of divorced parents, and who, by the way, dislike each other, she lives with her mother and takes the holidays to spend time with her father. Despite being the daughter of a wealthy man, Harper can not be considered privileged. Her father pays only for her education, her mother did not receive any money in the divorce, so Harper works to pay the bills and support her and her mother, who makes through various marriages her mission to continue leading the life of luxuries she is accustomed to. During the period when her mother is not in a relationship, their lives are difficult, but she does not ask her father for help because she is afraid that he will separate her from her mother. Harper is an heir with no money. In a summer, Harper knows his father's new wife, who also, by the way, marries as a change of clothes. Knowing that these women never last, she never bothered to meet or approach. But this time it will be different. Her new stepmother has a son, and however much she tries, it will be impossible to ignore Christopher. Time passes, the two become friends, communicate by letter, until at age eighteen, Harper takes a blow from fate that will bring about a drastic change in her life. With the death of her father and being his only heir, she will finally be able to give a decent life to her mother, but a condition of her father will destroy what she most cherishes, her friendship and feelings for Christopher. Her father will appoint him guardian of her inheritance, which she will only have access on the age of twenty-five. And so, Harper and Christopher will never understand each other again.
Trust Fund by Skye Warren When 15 year old Harper visits her Dad on his yacht, she is not surprised that he has remarried and she has a new stepbrother. She never bothers to get to know them, as she knows they will not be around for long. Yet her new Stepbrother, Christopher is different. When he saves her life, he also becomes the only person she really connects with. Christopher and Harper form a deep connection. Her Father seems to trust and admire Christopher as well. While her father is a billionaire and he pays for her schooling, there is not much else he gives her. Harper’s passion is painting and when she is asked to exhibit her work, she has no idea that it will be the night that will change all their lives. Once again SW has woven her web and I cannot wait to read Survival of the Richest. Reviewed for Hot books and Sassy Girls book blog
I’ll be honest and say I’m not the biggest fan of the short stories that work as extended prequels, and that’s exactly what Trust Fund offered. It’s the second time this has happened with a Skye Warren book, and, while I’m sure this works for many, it does not work for me.
Trust Fund is the prequel to Survival of the Richest, and it is another prequel that left me curious without ever pulling me completely into the world. There was a lot packed into this one, many details I am curious to see play out, yet it was just a snippet of what is to come. It was not enough for me and left me feeling like I was not given everything I could have been.
As I stated, however, I’m not the biggest fan of prequel shorts and that shows in the fact this was not enough for me.
“Both men and money have a way of disappearing when you need them most. It’s something I learned early, but clearly I needed to learn it again. Neither my stepbrother nor the inheritance were anything I could count on. Neither of them were anything I could trust.”
TRUST FUND is a brief, entertaining introduction to the story of Harper and Christopher. As always, Warren’s skills were on full display, resulting in characters who were intriguing and believable from page 1! Presumably this book is the foundation for what will happen in future installments and despite the fact that not a lot actually happens in this book, TRUST FUND is chock-full of fantastic character development, verisimilitude and subtext. In just a brief number of pages, I’m already invested in the lives of Christopher and Harper! Be aware, this truly is just a tease and ends with a major cliffhanger so you will want to start reading SURVIVAL OF OF THE RICHEST immediately after finishing – I am!!
***ARC gifted from Author in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! Holy crap... this prequel was good. So, so good! I can I just say that it makes me really freaking happy that I don’t have to wait absolutely anything to dive into Survival of the Richest because it’s already sitting pretty on my kindle. Perfect amount of information to suck you in and leave you craving more. Can we talk about that cliffhanger??? Whoooo.... deep breaths. Diving in to the next book right now!
Skye Warren fans have been patiently waiting for Christopher and Harper's story...well maybe not patiently...LOL But, it's finally here and it's just the beginning...it's true what they say about that fine line between love and hate.
Christopher is torn between protecting Harper and doing his duty, and Harper is torn too, but her struggle is less about duty and all about heart.
I'm all in, I can't wait to see if these two will finally get their HEA...I'm so thrilled to see how their story began.
For fans of the authors previous books this story has been greatly anticipated I know I've wanted Harper and Christopher's story. This is a an extended prologue that is the back story to what I just know is going to be a passionate story full of angst. Even though Harper is young when they meet you can feel the chemistry and connection between them.
The title wouldn’t have normally attracted me to this freebie but the author certainly did. It really hooked me in. Can’t wait to read the duet after this fascinating intro.
