CAN'T TOUCH THIS!!! Hey guys, check this out. This is one sweet, heartwarming, forbidden, adrenaline inducing, pulse racing, smooth flowing read that will capture your attention from the first page. One that has an all comsuming need for one another between the two main characters. An instant attraction has sparks flying that soon turns into a soul deep connection in this page turning tale that will leave you reeling. The characters and scenes were so realistic with such graphic detailed descriptions that you feel a part of the storyline instead of reading it. Such a wonderful feeling as I followed the couple breathlessly. It was mesmerizing to witness as their bond grew stronger and their personalities came alive before my eyes. You could all most feel their souls flow between them with an undeniable chemistry that burns as bright as the sun. Twists and turns abound with a nerve racking rollercoaster ride as they go through substantial roadblocks that they had to face together. With lies, petty jealousy and major problems they have to figure out fast. Mia did an excellent job bringing this read together brilliantly. Fantasy job Mia and thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.
Bryn is a rising star on the basketball court and he literally runs into Rebekah, the new cheerleader, and their is instant attraction between them. Of course, his coach tells him that he must keep away from all the cheerleaders or else be benched. This is the latest story my Mia Ford, who is a top USA best selling author. This one was set in Detroit but they talked of Hawaii being out of the country?? I know I'm a Brit but even I know that isn't right. There really needed to be better proof reading before this went to print as there were a significant number of grammatical errors too. I didn't get a real feel for Bryn as I thought he would be much more of an alpha male but this didn't come across at all to me. Don't get me wrong- this is an enjoyable short read and I normally love Mia's stories but this one was just not one of her best stories. The interaction and passion between Bryn and Rebekah was good with a considerable amount of too-ing and fro-ing whether they would get together or not. There is also a secret that could make major changes for them both. But will Bryn stay or leave to promote his career and leave her? I received a reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here.
This is a story about Rebekah a new cheerleader and Bryn a fairly new basketball player for the Pistons. Bryan and his team are in the running for the finals and he has had a hard time becoming friendly with his teammates off the court. Rebekah is new and finds that Tia is a mean leader of this squad and eventually finds friends on the team. One day both Bryan and Rebekah literally walk into on another and find themselves attracted to each other and he takes her some place where they can explore each other. This is the first time in Bryan’s career that he allowed a distraction to interfere in his game. The coach is not happy and warns him to get it together. Bryan was confused thinking he could be with Rebekah and still play basketball and once Rebekah became a distraction he starting pulling away from her. Rebekah was hurt and confused and when things looked bleak she had an unexpected surprise and things got even more difficult. Will Bryn be able to take the advice his dad offers and find all kinds of happiness? Can Bryan find a way to have it all? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I was so hopeful, as I love a sports romance book, but this one lacked maturity. Bryn, the basketball hero waffled so much between breaking out and being his own person and wimping back into obscurity while his teammates enjoyed the game and their private lives. I was rooting for him to learn how to balance his love of the game and the dedication it requires, and his need for friends and finding love. Enter Rebekah, the newest cheerleader for the team who literally runs into Bryn and they have immediate chemistry. A few stolen looks and they are off to a closet for their first equal encounter together. Add an understanding dad and a domineering coach to the mix, stir together and add more waffling and you have a so-so love story. I had a hard time reading my way through to the end. Hardly my Mia Ford favorite, but I’ve read a lot worse from other authors. Hoping Mia gets back on track with 5 another five star romance.
Rebekah met Bryn when she started being a cheerleader for his team. The attraction between them was instantaneous however neither knew that it was forbidden. When Bryn's coach started noticing him having issues playing and being distracted he confronted him and told him to fix it so he could continue to play. Rebekah was hurt by Bryn when she saw him pulling away. Bryn wants to make it to the major leagues but thinks he can't if he is involved with someone. It takes missing Rebekah for him to arrange to meet her but he wasn't counting on her having some shocking news of her own. Will Rebekah's news be the end for them? Can Bryn see that he can have it all?
This was a great story once I started I didn't want to stop. The chemistry between Bryn and Rebekah is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this to any book lover.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. I enjoyed it so much I bought my own copy.
Did you ever read a book where you were excited at the start and ended up picking the book apart. That was my experience with this book. The H was such a wuss. He’s supposed to be a starting player on an NBA team and he’s the star. Can you inject him with a little alpha male testosterone. All of his interaction with his coach were so off. It would be the opposite in real life where the coach would be on the receiving end of most of the lectures. The h was stronger in character going after what she wanted.
I liked the concept of the story. Wasn’t too overly fond of the story once started. I don’t usually get distracted by spelling/grammar errors but wow.
And finally, if the story was based in Detroit, then why the heck did the author refer to Hawaii as being “another country”. Hawaii is a State. You don’t have to break out a passport there!
I really liked the idea behind this latest book from Mia Ford. Bryn is an NBA basketball player and he keeps all distractions from his life so he can focus, including women. Rebekah is the newest cheerleader and she is just trying to find her place on the team. When these two litterally run into each other, sparks immediately fly. This story is mostly will they or won't they be together while Bryn struggles to keep his focus on his team but still find a way to have a social life. The only reason for 4 stars instead of five is because at times it felt a bit juvenile. Overall a great book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Hero, Bryn = 5/5 Heroine, Rebekah = 5/5 Chemistry, = 5/5 Sex, = 5/5 Plot = 4/5 Mystery = 1/5 Action = 1/5 Darkness = 1/5 Humor = 1/5 POV = Dual Would I recommend this book = yes Would I re-read this book = yes Would I read future books by this author = yes
Masterfully written, smooth-reading, compelling and SOOOOOOooooo romantic! She’s done it again! I am not sure how she does it, but Author Mia Ford is a master at making this reader care about each of the characters she writes about in her compelling novels. Sports romances are probably my least favorite sort of romance, but even the athlete lead in “PLAYING FOR KEEPS” had redeeming qualities that had nothing to do with his sport and everything with who he was as a man. In short, “PLAYING FOR KEEPS” is an amazing must-read, whether you are catching some me-time, or sitting out in the sun, TAKE THE TIME TO READ “PLAYING FOR KEEPS”! I was given an ARC copy to prepare this honest, voluntary review and must give it a five-star MUST READ, highly recommended for any romance reader! Happy pages! 😉
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this boo we meet Bryn Whitting and Rebekah Swartz. Rebekah has just become the newest cheerleader on the Pistons basketball team. However one meeting with Bryn has her wondering if she parties with the girls will she get to spend more time with him. Bryn is more of a laid back kind of guy and isn't really into the party scene but there is something about Rebekah that has him wanting to know more. Can these two really find a HEA and having it all or will outside forces make sure that will never happen?
This is an amazing book. It has it's ups and downs that I really want to tell you about. I however don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Bryn Whitting an up and coming NBA basketball player. His main focus was the game and his career. Right now his main focus was on the playoffs for his team and nothing would distract him from accomplishing the end goal of the champions. Rebekah was a young inspired woman wanting to be a cheerleader for major league basketball team. A spot on the cheerleading team for the Pistons opened up and Rebekah wanted that spot. Bryn and Rebekah see each other from afar one day at training and so begins the strange romance between the two. Rule in major league no fraternization with the cheerleaders. So begins the secret between Bryn and Rebekah. Mia Ford once again has written a wonderful love story for anyone to curl up in the bed to read. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC book for my honest review.
Bryn is a very focused NBA player and he is thrown for a loop when Rebekah shows up as a new cheerleader for the team. He never pays attention to women, but this one makes him lose his mind and almost his place on the team. There is instant lust and they act upon it in an elevator that leads to a room and then to all kinds of fallout.
I liked the story. I thought it was sweet and sexy. I can't believe for the life of me why two young people today would go at it more than once without using protection. Sheesh people, how can you forget a thing like that more than once?
Otherwise it was a good sports story as well as a Love story.
A story about getting your priorities straight. Bryn has to chose between the woman he loves and has got pregnant or his basketball. Can Bryn have both his basketball career and a relationship with Rebekah and their child? A romance with lots of chemistry and passion between the main characters. They are well described and develops well through the story. A sweet and steamy novel with lots in it. I like it is written in dual POV, which gives the reader both the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. That makes the story even more emotional and captivating. It is engaging and recommendable.
What another amazing book. This was definitely a romantic comedy/serious story of how people find themselves in situations that can't be helped or avoided. But no matter how people see what they did, it shows us that you can never judge a book by its cover. Rebekah and Bryn are so much in love that you absolutely in love with them. It's so worth the read...wonderful and brilliant. It gets 5 stars from me. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy.
Rebekah is a cheerleader. Bryn is a player on the Pistons NBA team. Bryn meets Rebekah when she's a new member of the squad. Sparks fly. A night of passion happens and then Bryn finds out he did a no no. Cheerleaders are off limits. What Will happen when their relationship is exposed? Will Bryn choose love of a woman over the love if the game? Will they get a HEA?

What a great forbidden sports romance. Bryn is a basketball player and Rebekah is a new cheerleader for his team. This makes her off limits, players are not allowed to date. When Rebekah becomes pregnant will Bryn be their for her? This was a sweet, heartwarming romance with undeniable chemistry, lies, jealously, twists and turns. I voluntarily received an advanced arc copy for an honest review.
A steamy and intense sports romance. Bryn and Rebekah's story is full of drama. Their chemistry is very steamy and the attraction they feel will make them break the rules. Then a unexpected surprise could be the beginning or the end of them. An enjoyable read. I'm posting a completely honest review.
I was privileged to receive this book as an advanced copy & am choosing to review it voluntarily and this is my honest review.. Mia Ford brings together one basketball player and one cheerleader. A very well written story that has you hooked from page one until the end. Honestly, I can’t think of a thing I didn’t like about this book.
A well written sports romance with a great storyline. This is about an NBA player and a cheerleader, a forbidden romance and an unexpected surprise. Bryn and Rebekah are wonderful together and their story kept me turning the pages. This does have an HEA ending. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Rebekah and Bryn bump into each other when Rebekah starts a new job and sparks immediately erupt. Bryn can't afford to be distracted and tries to resist but can he? Things soon get complicated for them both but will they sort it out together or will it tear them apart? The characters are well developed and their families are great. Loved the plot and will definately be rereading.
Playing For Keeps is a good, fun, entertaining read. I enjoyed Rebekah and Bryn's story. They were told it was forbidden to see each other but they couldn't keep their hands off each other. This is a sexy read and I look forward to reading more books by this author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
The story is sweet, but the poor editing and even grammar, at times, detracts from the book. Electronic editing is not sufficient. Their needs to be human eyes that will pick up things that do not show up electronically.
I have noticed similar patterns in other books by Ms. Ford.
Playing For Keeps is a great read. sweet, captivating, exciting and touching story.love it! well written, exciting characters with great chemistry. Great sport romance book by Ms.Ford, well done! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book!!! thanks!
This is a wonderful sports romance, even if you don't know anything about basketball it's still entertaining. Well-written forbidden romance and a baby in the mix, wonderful likable characters. It's a standalone story with a HEA. No cliffhangers..
An amazing book. Extremely entertaining, captivating and interestingly sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong characters. I want to read more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Mia has written another great book. I loved this one a lot. Especially since its a sports romance. Bryn and Rebekah were a great couple and I adored them together. The writing was great. This is a new favorite of Mia's for me. Amazing book.
