The lesson Amy learns aren't as tight in this book as they are in some of the others in the series, but it still provided my five-year-old daughter and I a nice context to talk about working hard and what to do when your friends aren't treating you right.

it is a great book and also teaches you to never give up no matter what.

I like the fact that the characters are mixed race but it's not enough to overcome the stilted writing and heavy handed message. Characters aren't fleshed out and sound too adult.
