Goddamn it. I should hate this series so much but yet....it's actually a fascinating look at writing and creativity.

The second book of the eromanga sensei series continues on the adventures of Light novel author Izumi Masamune and illustrator and shut-in Izumi Sagiri, as well as continuing to include both romantic and humorous elements in the story.
After defeating Yamada Elf in the one-on-one novel duel for eromanga sensei, Masamune is determined to publish the same work, which turns out to be not a romantic comedy, but a heartfelt love letter? Meanwhile, Elf befriends Masamune and Sagiri/Eromanga sensei, which ends up giving Eromanga sensei an artist's block.
After that problem is solved, Masamune submits the manuscript for his new novel, only for it to have the publishing date set as late as next year, due to the best author in the publishing company, Senju Muramasa, taking up the publishing slots.
Masamune goes to the publishing company to discuss with his editor about the issue along with Elf, and they meet a strange Girl in a kimono, who just so happens to be Senju Muramasa herself, who challenges Masamune in a novel competition held by the company in order to completely crush his dreams- but why does she want to do so?
Book 2 continues on the plot of book 1 and is just as, if not more interesting than book 1. The comedy and the interactions between the characters are both amplified and made very interesting, although like most series, knowledge of book 1 will be needed in order to understand the events of this book.

I love Fushimi-san and would have gratefully read and enjoyed his manga even if it wasn't what I do for a living. Volume 2 expands on the light-hearted insanity of this story and incorporates even more of the tornado of attitude that is Elf Yamada, the nemesis/best frenemy of the Eromanga Sensei herself... anyway, I can't explain it, you just have to read it. It's goofy, delightful, and amazingly poignant, and I hope we continue this series in English because I desperately want to read it all!

Volume 2 is still working with the same five characters; that's unusual for a manga. And, I'm still enjoying it. One volume to go.
