Colt Ryder #8

The Thousand Dollar Chase

Rate this book
Colt Ryder and his loyal canine friend Kane are back in action once again – only this time, they are taking on a group of extremists who claim to have God Himself on their side . . .

The Allen family have it made, living the good life in a small town in Tennessee. But when they start to have doubts about their faith, that good life comes to a crashing end – because they are members of the Congregation of Christ in America, a fundamentalist group whose leader takes their doubts to be a betrayal. And Pastor Bobby Darwin is not a man to take betrayal lying down.

Declaring the family to be apostates and blasphemers, he sentences them to death; and whereas Sam Allen is captured by the group and ritually killed, his wife and daughter manage to escape.

But with CCA churches throughout the state called on to help find them, a team of professional bounty hunters brought in, and with certain members of the police firmly in Darwin’s corner, Lorna Allen and her daughter Leah simply don’t have a chance.

Unless the Thousand Dollar Man hears their call . . .

It's ok, but a tad predictable

The problem with solo adventurer books and with so many more books in the series, is that you know they are going to survive. The only real way to build suspense and uncertainty is to make those around them expendable and unfortunately this just does not happen in this series, at least not yet
This time round it's a Church going after one of their congregation and Colt stepping in to protect them. He goes easy on them to begin with and that costs him in the long run
Overall ok, worth reading, but needs some more.umph to make the better than they are

Disappointing Prejudice!

Have loved the Colt Ryder series up until this installment. The authors description of all Christians as violent religious fanatics does a great disservice to the millions of everyday ordinary good devout Christians than beat no resemblance to nuts he paints Christians to be. There has been some violent religious cults in the past but they have been shunned by mainstream Christian denominations. Sorry mate, you can keep your atheism to yourself.

The Thousand Dollar Chase as usual fantastic!

COLT IS QUITE THE HERO as the thousand dollar man. I'm sure if he'd be real, he'd be very busy in real life. I loved the story. Couldn't put it down. J.T. Bannan is a great writer and I'm anxsious for more.
All his book are great.

Hero with a twist

I love this series and always happy when a new one comes out. Who doesn't like a book with a hero fighting for the one's the system let down, and not only him but his amazing dog. Not only does he help people he actually he makes sure the problem is solved.

Fast paced action

The Thousand Dollar man crashes into this book moving from one harrowing situation to another. Finding himself defending a mother and her daughter he faces a foe with vast resources that almost catch him in the end. Great book.

juvenile, anti-Christian plot

Another, tiresome, story of a murderous, megalomaniac, Christian pastor. Let’s review: how many such pastors have ever existed in history? Zero.

Muslims, on the other hand…
