Enslaved as a child, her DNA altered until she was barely half human, Jeannie Sorenson still managed to engineer her escape back to the ship that brought her to that deadly planet. Could the humans accept her now that she was half alien? Could she learn to interact with them and still retain her freedom? And why the hell did they keep asking her for answers when they didn’t want to hear them?
Ordinary people are capable of remarkable feats given the right set of circumstances and these days, maybe more than ever, we all need more everyday heros.
The stories I love best are ones in which I could see at least a part of myself and that is actually the starting point of many of my stories. I am an observer. I love to people watch! I can’t help but notice what makes an ordinary person stand out to me and I can’t resist building stories around those unique character sketches.
The stories I least like are ones where the “hero” remains tormented and without resolution even at the end of a book. If I wanted reality, I’d have watched TV. Good fiction should entertain, and have a momentum of its own that carries rather than drags the reader along. My stories are intended to transport the reader away from the stresses of their day-to-day lives, and to sweep them up into a different world where people much like themselves overcome challenges and have remarkable adventures.
My goal is to write stories that inspire people to be their own everyday hero; to imagine new possibilities for themselves and perhaps change the course of their own story. I invite you to join me on the adventure.
I've been on a lesfic scifi kick lately and after reading a little bit of the first chapter I thought I would enjoy this book. That was an understatement. I absolutely adored the main character in this book and the very sweet love story that evolved. The combination of toughness and innocence was so endearing, she was an irresistible main character to root for. The story was creative, heartwarming and fast-paced. I highly recommend this book.
This was a fun and quick read over all. While this book might not be a fantastical space opera, it’s still a good book to pick up for some quick sci-fi fun.
I've enjoyed reading books with strong female main characters since I was a teenager reading about Ayla in Earth's Children series. SUVI held my attention and I was up all night reading, something I haven't done in a few years. This was well written and I didn't find any mixed up sentences or misspelled words. I really hope this is the first of a long series. I'm actually excited to find out what happens next.
This was a very good story. A possibility if what we may find in our explorations of the worlds around us brought on by the actions in our world today. SUVI is a wonderful read with vivid characters that draw you into their stories. Looking forward to the next chapter!
The writing is stilted and after awhile it gets a bit annoying. I would like a description of the characters too especially suvi. Other than that it was a quick read with an interesting story.
