TO OUR READERS…
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for purchasing this book and reading it! We hope you, as the readers, enjoy this book as much as we enjoyed writing it. We want to make sure you know that we feel this is a serious story about changing a world. It’s romantic, dramatic, funny, and sometimes a heart wrenching read. It’s full of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. We didn’t add a trigger warning in the blurb on the paperback. We added it here. Be warned: this book contains reverse harem relationships, graphic sex scenes, rape, violence, and language.
My name is Miki Ward. I like to build people up, and so do my characters, even amid violence and bloodshed - don't worry its fiction. I'm the author of The Phantom Queen among other works. My books are reverse harem, myths, urban fantasy, and paranormal romance for readers who crave a few extra men in relationships, not just one poor pitiful partner. My stories include not just sexual tension but fire. Some are burn in your spirit hot, some are slow burn, and one I call sweet and clean. I co-write with my brother... yes, think about that, it's crazy! I also have written with KA Morse and have a WIP with her about a manic multi-personality demon infested wizard. I have another co-write with the hall of fame author Timothy Perico. That book is an epic civil war romance that will capture your heart. I'll be glad to answer your questions. Come visit me. You can find me on Facebook and my group is called Miki & Mine. I'd love to add you to my family but be warned it might get hot!
This book starts as a slow burn. You follow the story of Kendra, the MC. Kendra is thrust into events and a new reality that bring about so many different emotions. You feel like you can relate to how she feels and how she handles each obstacle she comes across. There's vivid details to scenarios she faces, but it's not overwhelmingly vivid giving you the chance to play it out on your head in your way. The men she meets each have their own characteristics and flaws that compliment her own fairly well. The authors have figured out a perfect balance between details, scenarios and using your imagination to see it play out. Well written and at a slower pace than most stories now, so you really get to submerge yourself into Kendra's life and story. Waiting for book two!
I would categorize this as a medium-burn romance. It starts off fairly slow, but it heats up in reasonably quickly.
The concept of the story is very unique and interesting.
Gargoyles are not something that I've seen too much of, but seems like they are making their appearance recently. Especially in the reverse harem genre.
I'm not exactly sure how to describe this book. While it is interesting, it is sort of hard to get invested in it. I felt like it was a lot of listing off what was happening. "He did this, I did that, Together we did this..." type of thing.
Some of the scenes didn't seem to fully come to frutation and I was left hanging, trying to figure out if it was something to be discussed later. Or it was just left open ended.
You're given a lot of detail in this book. About the background. About what's currently happening. And what it means for their futures. But you are still given a lot of action as well.
The characters are all very different and unique in their own way. But at times I felt like the chemistry was forced between some of them, but with others it was natural.
Overall, I think it is a good book. I think if you can power through it, you will enjoy it. And hopefully the second book will give us more. I would probably recommend this book if someone was looking for a gargoyle book in particular. Since I don't have many in my reading list, I would suggest this one.
I've never read a gargoyle story so when this popped up I thought it would have been a good change. Wel I'm sorry I really didn't like how it was written and found myself getting really bored with it
No spoilers of any kind because I’m not the kind of person that does that. So all I’ll say is this is a really awesome book, I was hooked before I even finished the first chapter and I stayed hooked until the very end of the book. Miki and Garrett V Ward most definitely know how to weave a amazing story together. I look forward to reading more of their work in the future. So yes I most definitely recommend this book because I think it’s an absolutely fantastic! And I really enjoyed crawling into it and getting totally lost within its pages.
For a new author, this book is amazing. I love gargoyles and the history and backgrounds they put into, made it even better. I need the next book! Fabulous job.
This is a great book. I'll admit I had a hard time getting into it at first, the wording threw me off a little bit. The more I read the book the more I was sucked into the story line. I just had to know what was going to happen next. Now I'm highly anticipating the next book.
I would highly recommend reading this amazing book..Character development, storyline everything about Carved made it a read that draws in the reader and doesn't let go until the book is finished. Real, emotional, edge of your seat greatness. Read it! You won't be disappointed!
Kendra is a kick booty chick who doesn’t judge and who doesn’t hold back!! I have so many spoilers I would love to say but just can’t so excuse me while I go running away!!
I really enjoyed this book. It was something different. I thought the story line was easy to follow and it kept you interested. The character descriptions were thought out and easy to picture. It was a little slow in the beginning but it developed into something great. I'm excited to see how the next book in the series is. Definitely worth the time to read. I really liked it!
The book as everything that you need in a book. Sexy gargoyle, amazing heroine and their bond that they form and strengthen through our the book. On true love never dies. Simply amazing. Can't wait for more.
I feel like there was so much detail to this story, but not enough background. The details didn’t draw me in in and make me feel like I could envision it. It was just ‘there’. this could have been an amazing book! I will be reading the second. But it took me 4 days to try and finish. The way the conversations went was hard for me. We’re in modern times, but everything is still very “archaic”. When certain things happened, there wasn’t a scene that was put together. It was “he did this, and then I did that, and he put his hand there and I kissed him” I’m giving it 3 stars because of that and the grammatical errors. It’s super slow in the beginning, but gets better around the 30% mark.
What a great start to a new paranormal RH series. I enjoyed this tale of gargoyles, which was very well written. The writing style was so vivid and engaging. The start was a little slow but hang in there because it is well worth it. You have everything from action, heartbreaking moments, throw in alittle romance, a female lead who is strong and fierce and her guys who love her. Give Carved a chance, you will become just as engaged and needing book two just as much as i did.
Carved was definitely a different book but that is what makes it special there are alot of events that happen I love how the MC is strong and when needed she leans are the ones shes grew to love im ready to read the next book to see what happens next.
The story begins with a funeral of a highly skilled forest ranger. We meet his unconsolable wife and her family. But the story soon drifts into fantasy, as unbenknown to the present generation, the wife's family is protected by the Ceorfan, a group of supernatural beings of all kinds - and they resurrect David, her dead husband, as one of their own. About the same time an old enemy who wants to enslave all and rule the world returns and Kendra and her brothers, like their ancestors, are asked to fight against evil. A great start of an epic story, weaving modern times together with fantasy, which makes you more involved in the story as you are familiar with some of the settings and all of the moral values Ceorfan and humans share. First let me say that I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book, but it in no way influenced my feedback. I always leave an honest review. Also This author is new to me, but won't me for long.
Wow!!! When I first started reading this story, I cried my eyes out. It actually hurt. We meet Kendra, a tough as nails woman, dealing with death of a loved one. It felt like I was there with her. This story was so phenomenal that I had a hard time putting it down. There is so much detail about the Cerofan, gargoyles, but it's not boring or redundant. We learn about family and their strengths. So much is going on with cartels, war with an evil mage, traitors, gargoyles & dragons, and love. Because Kendra does find love in many different ways. Oh I can't wait to read the next story in this series. I recommend this read 5 Thumbs up
This RH story is a slow burn. It starts of slow as we learn all about gargoyles and their history. Also about how Kendra and her two brothers fit into. None of the three are gargoyles but are they human like they’ve always believed? From the start we know the gargoyles have protected their family. Kendra’s Love has died protecting our country but that is only the start of his story. The book gets very in-depth. There is plenty of bad guys and those she trusts may not be what she thinks. The relationship part is slow in building in this book but I expect book two will open up quite a bit.
First I want to acknowledge how amazingly beautiful the cover art is, oh man it's pretty! Ok now that I've done that, haha, this was a great story. I was completely engrossed in it from the very beginning, the story line was epic! I enjoyed the characters very much and this take on gargoyles was new and inventive. If you like the paranormal and a kick butt female lead, you should definitely give this a read!
To be honest I did have a bit of a hard time getting into the book but the more I read the harder it was to put the book down. There’s several characters that I love and at times the book was really funny! I’m definitely going to read the next book to find out what’s in store for Kendra and the rest of the characters.
DNF maybe I’ll come back to it. My main problem was the speech. Very stilted which is fine for gargoyles but not the MC. Her knowledge of things is strange too. It seems to be wedged in between the main action. Someone is shooting -oh. BTW we are all aware we have powers in the family. Stilted is the best way to describe the book.
Carved by Miki Ward is an awesome book, it is book one in a new series I just started reading. I never read anything from this author before this story and and I am glad I read this story. It is action packed and very full of magic. Miki Ward is slowly becoming one of my favorite authors now.

The world-building is good; definitely interesting. Despite the numerous adventures, the narrative did not incite compulsion to keep reading to see what happens. The story needs more dialogue between the characters. I do find the imagination of the authors fascinating. I just wish that the writing is more captivating.
She needs help to protect her brothers and she hopes they will help. They are gargoyles and they will be destroyed if they are revealed. Can they help each other? Will they keep each other safe? How will they get on? Follow their adventures and see

This book kept me entertained for hours. Kendra experiences a whirlwind of activity, she goes from zero to hero, she thought they were just cute stone carvings and well she was right sort of... until night then well they became more and then she became more. Hunky men that are hard as rock.

I love this book. A wonderful positive, slow burn reverse harem. Strong female character, and hot sexy Gargoyles that love her desperately. This Author is one you should keep your eyes on. I highly recommend this book. And watch out for the next one.
Book one of The Ceorfan Gargoyles series leaves you with questions to be answered in the next book, which I want to read. A well-written book that kept my interest until the end. Who is the surgeon? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this book so much. At first I was like I'm so not going to get into this book. The more that I started to read the more I loved this book. I so cannot wait too read more of it. The authors did a wonderful job on this book. Thank you so much for letting me read your wonderful book.
So, I really did like this book. It was engaging, and it had a unique and fun concept. The plot was interesting, and the characters seemed like beings I would want to get to know. I hope in the future to see more of her relationships with the other gargoyles, not just Spar. The reason I could not give this book five stars was because of all the grammar issues and typos. They were to a distracting level. And it's a shame, because this book really does have so much going for it.
