After a lifetime of heartache, Adam Hamilton knows bad luck follows him like a stray dog. He doesn’t dare get too close to anyone for fear something terrible will happen to them – like what happened when his wife and son died. After five years of drifting, Adam returns home to Savannah, Georgia, and learns his brother has been murdered. Determined to find answers, Adam decides to stay, but in his quest for truth, he’ll have to fight the ghosts of the past.
Emily Black races to Savannah after the sudden death of her sister’s husband. There Emily meets the cold-hearted Adam Hamilton, and the man quickly proves to be an utter pain in her backside. However, as she gets to know him, she realizes the broken man is hiding beneath an aloof façade. Slowly, Emily softens toward him, determined to show him that good still exists in his life, and hoping he’ll include her in it.
Adam comes to Savannah to find answers to his brother’s death and possibly his wife and child’s years earlier. Emily comes to comfort her sister, Hannah, whose husband has been killed in an accident. To say sparks fly when the two meet would be an understatement. The question is are the sparks attraction or revulsion? Only time will tell. This is a quick read that has interesting characters and story line. I always enjoy Marie Higgins books and I look forward to more in this series.
A very well written book by Marie Higgins and I enjoyed reading this book. Two unexpected deaths, a young woman, a young and angry man, a priest, a young widow, two little kids, a war in Ireland and two people looking for answers. All this and so much more. If all this interests you, buy the book and enjoy.
Another good story by Ms. Higgins. A little slow at the beginning but I soon got caught up to what was going on. It is clean, has many lessons to learn like not being the avenger but following the law to get the bad guys, romance, & an HEA. I enjoyed it very much.
Emily travels to Savannah when her sister's husband passes away. Her cousin and Hannah's brother in law escort her there. Lots of adventures and romance. - Babs
