You've gotta be kidding me

I keep on telling myself that I really shouldn't read Kobo freebies anymore no matter how bored and insomniac I get, since my experience with previous ones wasn't good -to put it lightly- (and yes I read multiple bc I can't seem to sleep lately, but I only submitted two on GR bc I didn't finish the others). But do I ever listen?
Noooooooooooooooooo

Enough about my weird habit of reading thing I know I'd hate, let's talk about the book shall we?

So basically this book is about this math nerd, Cara, who's dating Philip, the crown prince of a country I can't for the life of me remember its name and I'm not nearly desperate enough to look up.
It's all rainbows and unicorns in Cara's life, her soon-to-be-king boyfriend became her soon-to-be-king fiancé (yeah he proposed *acts shocked*). Then, she's at her bachelorette party with her friends in Venice, bc why not, you're gonna be queen one day so you might as well enjoy it. (No, I'm not jealous at all.) when DUN DUN DUUUUUUUN she finds out that her fiancé cheated on her. How? one may ask, why she saw it on TV of course.
Naturally she storms out of the restaurant and goes to the airport.

Meanwhile, the other prince (the second in line or whatever it's called) Eric, aka the manwhore of the royal family, is also in Venice because he's "in love" with Cara so he follows her everywhere. Normally it's called stalking and it's frowned upon but he's hot, rich and is a prince so it's okay.

Anywaaaays, Eric calls Cara, meets her at the airport and takes her to New Zealand. (PS: Eric can fly a jet like it's no one's business. Add that to the Why is Eric so important list will ya?)

Once in New Zealand one thing leads to the other and on the day she was supposed to get married she gets REAAAAAALLY depressed so Eric suggests they go get drunk (amazing idea Eric, because good things always happen when you get drunk).

Oh btw did I mention that Eric "loved" Cara for four fucking years (which is the length of her relationship with his bro) and it's not even a good story or sth. She spilled HOT soup on his lap. He saw her and was like "wow I'm in love".

Anyways. After getting drunk Eric and Cara *surprise surprise* sleep together.

They keep at it for like a whole week. Screw outdoors activities, just have sex all day long. That's really healthy.

Everything is great and all, then *drum roll* PHILIP SHOWS UP.
Gee dude it only took you like 3 quarters of the book to find your ex-fiancée and try to apologize and win her back, you're so fast.

Shit goes down between the brothers and Eric punches the living shit out of his brother. To my dismay, he doesn't break any of his ribs. of course paparazzi are there and BADABOOM it's a scandal.

Cara goes back to that country -whatever the heck it's called- with Philip so they can talk it out and what's the excuse he uses?
"I wanted to show the world that I was still in control, and I could still have everything I wanted" (those aren't the exact words but oh well)

I was like EXCUSE YOU?
You don't just CHEAT on your god damned fiancée literally a couple of weeks before you're supposed to get married just to prove you're "still in control". Screw you Philip.

Once in whatever-the-hell-that-country-is-called the queen is pissed at Cara (because yeah it was totally her fault that you son is a cheating piece of shit) and decides to deport her.
But before she leaves, Cara writes a note to Eric and asks Philip to give it to him. Bc apparently she's in love with him now. (take notes ladies, to find real love you just need to sleep with someone for a week in New Zealand)

Eric arrives one day later and reads the note. Naturally he defies his mother and goes to search for Cara.

Wanna guess what happens in the last chapter?
Yep, Eric finds Cara's address and they're reunited and planning their newest escape to Rio.

THE FUCKING END.

I don't even know how to feel about this book tbh. Like, it wasn't terrible plot-wise or whatever. I've read worse. But it wasn't my cup of tea. Not to mention the spelling mistakes, the typos and the grammar issues that could have been fixed with just another round of editing. But what do I know, I'm just someone who read this bc I was bored and insomniac.

I really think I can find better stuff on Wattpad.
In fact, I think I'll install the app again so I read stuff there when I'm bored and insomniac from now on.

Yikes sounded cute but the reviews I read didn't warn me... lots of explicit language and some sex. DNF Got to page 2. Amazon Freebie and the cover on Amazon is much more benign.

This story was very interesting, and also entertaining. Besides there being numerous editing issues, I still really liked it. I only wished there was more focus on Cara's journey of emotions towards falling for Eric. It would have added a bit more character depth to her, in my opinion.

The Royal Trade was a fun and short read. It is told from two point of views, that of Cara and Eric. Cara finds out her fiancé has been cheating on her, she isn't sure what to do, but she wants to get away from it all. And that's exactly what she gets. Eric has always been in love with Cara since he first met her, but she was his brother's fiancé. When he finds out his brother cheated on her, he ask Cara where she wants to go and that's how they end up in New Zealand.

Erin Hayes really knows how to write awesome short stories. No matter the length of her books it always feels like a complete story. And while that was the case here, I also wished it was a bit longer, so we would've had more chance to get to know the characters and see their romance grow a bit more slowly. Now we get some scenes that show their romance progressing, but also some time skips and I would've liked to see more scenes of them together. I was pleasantly surprised by how some things got resolved at the end. Things made sense and felt real and I liked how things were a bit more grey than black and white. It was a fun read and I enjoyed reading it.

I liked that the book was set in New Zealand, but at the same time it was hard not to compare it to the only other book I've read so far that was set there. And I did enjoy that one more than this book. I wanted to see more of New Zealand in this book and mostly visualized things based on the few things that got mentioned and my own image of the country, so not sure how correct that is.

We get to know a bit about both Cara and Eric, enough to get a feel for them, but I felt like they didn't get as fleshed out as I would've liked. They both have some quirks and personality traits we get to know, but I guess I just wanted a bit more. I didn't quite care for Eric at first, although it did became obvious his feelings for Cara were real and I liked how he wanted to make his own path and didn't always follow everyone's expectations. And I did like his gesture at the end. Their romance seems to happen quite quickly, although the in book time is longer, we just only get to see pieces of it. I did like these two together and I was happy with how everything got resolved at the end.

To summarize: this was a enjoyable short read. This author can write shorter length stories really well without them feeling rushed. Although I still would've liked if it was a bit longer so we would get to know the characters more and see more scenes of how their romance developed. I did like how both characters had some quirks and personality traits to give them some personality. Although I would've liked it if they were a bit more fleshed out. The romance seems to progress quite slowly as we only get to see some scenes of their time together, while in book time it takes longer. All in all a fun read if you're looking for a short romantic read.

I really liked the story. I guess I am out of the spell of not enjoying what I read. Yes, it's another one of those prince and commoner romance story. I kind of liked the characters. If not, I wouldn't have seen the end of this book. I wouldn't say that there's anything unique about the plotline or the story as a whole. But whatever be the reason, I was really into this book. There are many grammatical errors. Like they showed up too often. And being a grammar Nazi I was really irritated about those errors. I would recommend the author to get it edited or proofread once more.

So this was a very quick read for me. I would have loved a more depth in the characters, as well as more time of Cara getting to know Eric in the past or present. It all just seemed a little shallow for me.

I did enjoy the ending. I'm not sure I'd call it a Grand Gesture but I guess it was pretty good :)

I am a great fan of author Erin Hayes but most of her books I've read have involved the paranormal to one extent or another. Well, for most of us I guess Princes and billionaires are fairly paranormal to our lives (oh, wait, Your Majesty, I know you enjoy reading these, too) but the only magic involved in this tale is the HEA (Happily Ever After) and Ms. Hayes fast-paced, light and humorous writing style. No plot spoilers here but lots of drama and a bit of "steam."

A freebie with a brother switch-a-roo. I would've given it higher ratings if the author had come through on the sexual chemistry that was leaking off the pages of my kindle. But she pulled a clean book on me. CRY. Because, lemme tell you. Brother Charming was delicious. Off to book 2.

Cara thought she was living a fairy-tale life. Since she is engaged to the the man of her dreams who just happens to be the prince of an island nation in the Mediterranean. But when he publicly cheats on her, her life is turned upside down and she doesn’t want to come back to reality. A sweet & sexy spicy hot read perfect for cozening up next to the fireplace. I loved this novella & could not put in down. A highly entertaining written & developed novel with no plot holes. With compelling characters that are realistic with real emotions & flaws. I was hooked right from the start of the decadently delicious read that I highly recommend reading. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reading copy of this book.

What a book! I honestly could not stop reading this book, i was enthralled with it the whole time, literally from the first sentence to the last and i am now seriously craving for more of this author's work. This author is so talented and has a way to get you hooked straight away you fall into her world created by such a vivid imagination and you don't want to leave!

I loved this storyline...No matter how hurt you can be, your happily ever after is still possible! I loved the character development throughout this book, both of the characters change throughout the book and i really enjoyed having that unfold..

I loved Cara in this book! She has such an inner strength and this is very obvious throughout this book with what she has to deal with, she also has an inner fire that i loved, she is independent and stubborn. Throughout the book you see her again realise who she is deep inside and that invokes a confidence that suits her well. I kind of also loved Eric, he has a persona that he feels he has to portray coming from his family and how he grew up, it's like a mask he can't seem to take of but Cara peels this away and i loved seeing he he really is. He is kind and loving, he sees her as a person and not an object, he is protective and sees who he really is and what sort of man he wants to be.

Seriously run and get a copy of this book, you will be awestruck by this amazingly vivid and imaginative tale that will steal your heart!!!

I love Eric, I know he was a bit of a womaniser BUT how he has felt for Cara since they first met is sweet. I couldn't help but feel for Eric, for how he felt for Cara and watching her with his older brother. His heart must of broke everytime he was in a room with them. When he comes to help her and take her away from the scandal is cute. How he took care of her and was her shoulder to cry on, even when he just wanted to tell her how he felt. Letting her be herself and in control of her own life again instead of taking over was beautiful to watch. Herbert is like the best man servant ever, he looks out for Eric like a friend and tells him when he is being a idiot. He also takes a shine to Cara as she proves what a good and loving person she is.

Poor Cara, believing she has found her happily ever after and then it all crashes around her was heartbreaking. She is hurt, betrayed with Phillip but also confused about Eric. He whisks her away from all the hurt and scandal Phillip caused her. He helps her mend again, even when she has her breakdowns he is right by her side trying to help. She does get very confused with Eric as her feelings start changing towards him. She gets a kick out of Eric and Herbert relationship which brings a smile to her face alot.

This is a lovely read. Two people who have known each other for years, one who has been in love with them without the other knowing about it, the other realising her true feelings for both brothers. I enjoyed this book and loved, loved, loved the ending.

This is a book about Cara's happily ever after. She met her fiancee, Phillip, in college and fell in love. She believed she met her prince charming, which Philip is literally a prince in Dubreva and heir to the throne. He proposed to Cara in front of so many people in an event in his nation.

On she went to Venice with others for her bridal shower. And then her world came crashing down when he publicly cheats on her. Without thinking, she packed her bags and went to the airport. There she saw Eric, Phillip's brother, who offered her to go anywhere she wants to get away from everything. On they went to New Zealand.

This is a fast-paced story. One thing you're reading they are in Dubreva, a small island in the Mediterranean Sea, and next you'll be taken to Venice, and the next you know, they're in New Zealand!

Love, lust, friendship, oozing chemistry, intrigue, scandal - they are all in this wonderful story. Read on to find out if the wedding is still on or Cara have other plans.

I received an advance readers copy of this book from the author which I voluntarily reviewed.

Aggravation and Instalove

I really wanted to like this story. I tried to read it a while back. Got 33% DNFed. I found an audio book and read it.

Cara is not a heroine I can root for. I loved her STEM mindedness . Reminded me a bit of Danica McKellar. Sadly, she's just a plot device. A way for an HEA to happen. I like determined women. She's not that. And the Queen comes across as Queen Narissa in Enchanted. Possibly the stepmom in the original Cinderella fairy tale. The women are empty vessels.

And the princes. Lord. Eric and Phillip are clearly Harry and William on some level. At least the philandering Phillip moniker is accurate. Eric has loved Cara since she burned his thigh with soup in a restaurant. What? And Cara was clearly meant to be the Kate Middleton to Phillip's William.

The entire story has plotholes galore. The only redeeming feature was the amazing narrators who turned the flat, empty characters and lines into something more. I usually don't listen to audiobooks but it was the only way to finish the story. And I will listen to more of their narrations.

Solid 1 star for the story itself. 3.5 stars for narration.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book

Cara met Phillip at University and he's the man of her dreams. He is also the prince of an island nation in the Mediterranean. They are engaged and she is living a dream life until it all comes crashing down when he publicly cheats on her. She's distraught and has to run away when she is met at the airport by his brother Eric who offers her the chance to run away from it all to have time to think about everything.

Will they manage to stay hidden and can Eric win her because he saw her first and has loved her ever since then? Will Cara be able to love again and will she see Eric as the right brother for her?

This is a charming love story with lots of raw emotions and great descriptions of where they are and what they did to take their minds off of everything at their destination. The ending was very sweet and I definitely felt the emotion.

I downloaded the free sample off amazon and within a few minutes of reading decided to purchase the whole thing. It's a nice and easy read. The characters all have differing personalities (a common problem in this genre is that most characters sound or act alike) and they have likeable/dislikable features. No one is perfect.

I was expecting something else to happen about 3/4 into the story. Like Eric lying to Cara for his own gain/her finding out his lie or finding out the scandal in Paris was faked. Something along those lines. Though perhaps I just watch too many CW shows.

I'm curious about how things will work out for them and how Phillip will deal with the aftermath of a scandal bigger than Prince Charles's letters/phone calls to Camilla. I look forward to reading the next installment.

Your life seems to be a fairy tale, but thats shatterd in one minute.

That happened to Cara. Her life ended the minute Philipe had cheated on her. What you do in that situation: escape and hide anywhere you can! Than fate put his brothers in front of you and he takes you for a trip.
What will happen? You will Discover in book!

Cara is a women who knows her way, she has a habbit when shes worried, i really liked her as she was really a full women with good and bad sides of it.
Eric a second Prince, he tries to find his way to win Caras Heart, will he manage? He deals with his own demons and we can see it while reading his POVs ;)
Main characters well developed, background characters were a little less, but still not one dimensional!!

For romance lovers!

Cara's life is turned upside down when she finds out that her fiancé cheated on her. Oh, and he happens to be prince of Dubreva. Cara seeks an escape and comfort with his brother, Eric, as they hideaway in New Zealand.

Cara was a great protagonist. She was the voice of reason in this insane story of royalty and lavish. It was really fun to see her and Eric's relationship progress. And Herbert, Eric's sassy valet was definitely my favorite character in the book. He was hilarious and I loved his relationship with Eric.

I loved this book. It was fast-paced and well written with characters you root for during a crazy scandal. If you're looking for a quick and fun read with great characters, this is the book for you.

You know authors like this are the reasons I love to read. Only here can you find a really good read that just takes you away at the passion and interplay between two characters. After being publicly cheated on and ridiculed Eric takes Cara away with the plan to prove to her he is the prince for her. What follows is sweet and sensitive and funny. All a great move in Eric's favor right? Well maybe not. A quick fun read, with enjoyable characters which will have you swooning and seeking you fan from the passion between these two.

Another amazing story, by Erin Hayes, sprinkled with some laughter, some tears, and one big "you sorry bas**rd!" tossed in to rock the gilded boat of happiness.

This is one kickass story, with characters that definitely have real personalities. You need a scorecard to track who is serving--or servicing--which character. It's awesome!

This one is definitely a keeper that you won't want to miss!(I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and loved it!)

Such a great story. From the first page to the last I was hooked. I don't usually like these types of books as the guys can be pompous dbags - but Erin wrote this in a way that you feel for Cara and Eric.

Can Cara find love so soon after the public news of her cheating Ex? Can Eric lose his playboy ways?
