It is time for Clayton Trent, Earl of Bentley, to take a bride. He knows exactly what he needs and the type of lady who should become his Countess. His life is orderly, scandal free and exactly the way it should be until Miss Eleanor Westin careens into him, upsetting the perfect balance of his world. She is everything his father said he should not marry. Yet, he cannot put her from his mind, not even when a decade old scandal threatens the very foundation of his family.

Miss Eleanor Westin has spent her life in the country on the brink of poverty and raising her siblings after the death of her parents until her grandfather finally decides to do his duty and brings her to London. Eleanor simply wants to find a gentleman who is willing to take on her family in the bargain. Love is not even a consideration if she can land security. Unfortunately, the only gentleman who has made any offer is Lord Bentley, and he will never do. If only he would stay out of her dreams so she could forget him and his intoxicating kisses.

Amazon Details: (Copy/pasted from Amazon) A Misguide Lord (Tenacious Trents Series #2) (Tenacous Trents) Kindle Edition
by Jane Charles (Author)

Typos anyone?

The error in the title (Misguide) and 'Tenacous' should have warned me. This book was in desperate need of basic proof-reading.

It took time for his young hear to heal, scars now calloused over it for protection was Clay able to accept and believe everything his father had warned of when choosing a wife. a mate.

Ella as an idea that times are difficult but not the truth of the matter.

"Think about the passion we've barely scraped the surface of."

My step-fathered owed him a thousand pounds...

Clayton was a thoroughly unlikable man and his treatment of Ella was appalling. As for what happened after it was just too much.

1 star. I did not like it.

Repeated Errors Prevent Book From Shining

The story was a tally quite good, although the young woman having sex before marriage could well have waited until after the wedding. My biggest issue was with spelling and words used incorrectly. A comma used here and there would have made reading so much easier. Words such as "too" and "to" are not interchangeable, but appear so here. Full words were left out, "he's " became "she's ," commas became a thing of the past, and these errors, that so EASILY could have been corrected by a proof-reader were left in to baffle the reader of the book.
Am I a "stick in the mud?" Absolutely not. Do I enjoy good literature? You know it. This story was, overall, quite good. Why the publisher would not supply a proofer is beyond me. Please consider correcting this before others read it. Your author deserves this as well.

Poor proofreading took away from the story

I am nonplussed about writing a review. First, the story was well thought out, characters well done, and I liked the H/h a lot. BUT, did no one proof read this book? The typos never end. Possibly every page has them. Way more than I could ignore. Regardless, I enjoyed the book. I hope Ms Charles finds a much better editor for her next books.

This is a very good Romance

This was a very good romance. The story was entertaining. I loved the heroine who was smart and loving. Once the hero got over himself , he grew away from a gruesome past, and became a true savior of the "Damsel in Distress'"
I couldn't give it a 5 star 🌟 review. There were too many grammar mistakes plus typos. People don't set, they sat. Also, in too many places the he and she were switched and misplaced. I am like the younger sister in that I get totally absorbed in the story, and when I have to mentally go back and re-read the paragraph over again to fix the right gender in my mind, It breaks the story line like an unexpected speed bump in a residential street. To the author I ask you to proof read your manuscript before you publish, please!
I would recommend this book to a mature audience, because it has mature sex scenes. I also recommend this book because it is imaginative.

Good story

Somewhat less than brilliant writing.

There IS a difference between compliment and complement.
Sentences changing tense in the middle, punctuation faux pas, and more misused words made it a difficult read at best.

The premise of the story was good, it was just not well-written.
Sorry. 😕

This is a good story with good characters. There are a number of grammatical errors that I had to correct in my mind as I read. Eleanor is responsible for her half siblings, three brothers and a sister. Her grandfather, titled and rich, wants to marry her off before she reaches her majority. He refuses to help her with her siblings since they are not his blood kin. Clayton Bentley,Lord Stanhope, meets Elenor at a ball and is drawn to her. He considers her frivolous. When he learns of her siblings, he mistakes the youngest for her own child. He offers for her as his mistress. She refuses. However, they are caught in the garden. Eleanor accepts money from him so he can avoid marrying her. He is as judgmental as his father was. When they do get together, he is angry because she is a virgin. She only does this because she needs money to save her home. There is more adventure for Eleanor when her grandfather awards her in marriage to a man she barely knows. Thinking her grandfather will take good care of her siblings, she agrees. Then she discovers the truth and tries to escape. Can Clayton realize his love for her and rescue her in time? Will they be able to start over with their love?

A Misguided Lord is an awesome historical romance by Jane Charles. Ms. Charles has provided readers with a well-written book furnished with an outstanding cast of characters. Eleanor was summoned to London by her grandfather to find a husband. She knows she needs a husband to help her take care of her brothers and sister, but she doesn't really want one. Clayton has decided it's time to take a wife. While he picks others as women he should court, he keeps being drawn to Eleanor. Their story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. I enjoyed this book from cover to cover and look forward to reading more from Jane Charles in the future. A Misguided Lord is book 2 of the Tenacious Trents Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

This is an entertaining, good read. Clay and Eleanor are interesting, complex, wounded, intriguing, relatable, entertaining characters. I enjoyed them as individuals and a couple. Their romance with all its twists and turns is entertaining to read. I loved the caretaking moments and when we get to see that lighter side to Clay. The family aspects of the story are entertaining and bring out the best in the main characters. The secondary characters added to the fabric of the story and my enjoyment. I love that we got to see so much of the couple from the first book in the series. I wish we had gotten to see Eleanor’s grandfather squashed like a bug …. The story is easy to read and get into. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the brother’s love stories and find out which ladies bring them to their knees.

WHAT YOU PRE-JUDGE FOR THE TRUTH IS OFTEN WRONG!

A Misguided Lord (Tenacious Trends Series #2)..by Jane Charles is given 4 STARS for a lovely tale of Lady Eleanor and Lord Clayton, an Earl who because of how they were each brought up and their suspicions brought on by others or circumstances they attempted to look past each other but at the same time their bodies and own passions would let them down. I really enjoyed this book and the part I disliked was the part where all Eleanor seemed to dance were feisty dances and I don't remember a waltz. Finally, a good friendship between Acker and both our Ella & Clay is one of my favorite parts.

This book had multiple errors in spelling and grammar. If an author cannot write in grammatically correct English, then at least they could employ a good editor.
The story itself is tedious, and the constant misunderstandings between the lovers are totally unbelievable. The erotic interludes are even more unlikely given the era in which the story is set, and the behaviour expected of young ladies at that time. The fact that a young lady of the upper classes would live and travel unchaperoned would in itself have been considered unthinkable. The characters are all two-dimensional caricatures without exception. Poor plot, even worse execution.
I suggest the author undertakes some serious research to give her next book some degree of credability.

Historical English romance with a boring titled fellow falls for a poor oldest sister who wants to bring her enormous family with her when she marries.
Lord Clayton Trent, Earl of Bentley is our reluctant groom who is in London to find his bride and it ends up being Miss Eleanor Westin.
I had a hard time liking these characters, but I think I just needed a break from historical fiction and it had nothing to do with this author's book. It is well written and a quick read, but I couldn't get into it.

A great story and enjoyable characters but please, please, please can someone edit the kindle version for errors. When paying for a book on my kindle I do not expect to have to edit in my head on every page! It may have been less aggravating had the book been available on kindle unlimited but I doubt it. However, as I enjoyed the story I will try others by this author and will hope she has a better proofreader/editor in future!

Many misunderstandings to the altar

Eleanor is a kind hearted person with a lot of responsibilities. Care of several siblings and a run down home! Clayton was raised by a cold hearted father who only saw black and white never gray! Their kisses ignite sparks but they are not even sure they like each other! Eleanor retreats to the country and a chance encounter ensures sparks still fly! A tumultuous road to their HEA but get there they do!

A Misguided Lord (Tenacious Trents Series)

I was very entertained by this romance. I liked the romance of Clay and Elle. I liked all the characters
( with the exception of Grandfather and the Creepy Lord) The eroticism was great. The editing left a lot to be desired, and the grammar was clunky. I still would read other books in this series.

This is a good story, but the proof-reading was horrible making it difficult to read. Every other page had a major error from wrong words to the Lord has the heroine's surname instead of his own. If you have to figure out who or what is being discussed, the reading is exhausting. This was one of those.

So, so not good... From the arsehole of a "hero" to the woman with no self esteem, and especially the lack of spelling and editing, I'm angry I lost my evening to this mess.

Edited to add that as I went through my notes, over a dozen editing goofs had been fixed. Way to substitute bad reviews for an editor. 🙄

An Unpredictablel Romance

This book's plot has so many twists and turns that while we know (being firmly in the romance genre) the couple will end up happily married, it is impossible to predict what will happen from scene to scene. A real page-turner, although neither gothic, suspense nor horror. Well done.

This was a fun adventure. Clay was raised in a way that shaped his thinking into what he knew deep down he could be like. Enter Eleanor and her siblings and grandfather. Her grandfather is the sort no one wants. He is against everything about her siblings N the life she leads with them. Add some drama and subduction and you have a hit.

Well done!

Story was excellent. Each mini story brought the final book together very well. Characters all believable and the historical info, mills, bad aristocrats etc, all add to the richness of the whole. A few editorial mistakes. Proofreading needs to be better. All in all, an excellent read and I would recommend it to others...

I enjoyed the storyline and would have rated it higher but the mistakes in this book were glaring. Even the title was misspelled. So many sentences just didn’t make sense. This book needed editing desperately.

Lovely

I really enjoyed Eleanor and Clayton's story. There were a few errors in the book, but nothing that could not be overlooked. I would love to read the rest of the series. Maybe they will one day be on KU or discount price.

A light hearted romance

While this is a romance the author also explores how the parent child relationship colours what or how the child may view others when the child grows up. The heroine awakes a new understanding and the hero is soothed and loved

Very Good!

My first book by this author and I quite enjoyed this book. Although I'm not into a book that ends with a cliffhanger ,this is
just enough of a cliff hanger to see what's next in the sequel...

Decent until it went stupid

The unnecessary plot twist came out of no where, and was a complete departure in character. Not caring isn't the same as deliberately wishing harm, and why the introduction into society if that was the plan all along. It made no freaking sense.

Clayton jumps to too many conclusions...

As the facts are doled out, we learn about Ella and Clay. But they are so stubborn and prideful it takes nearly the whole book to get all their secrets. Ignore the typos this is a really good read.

.

The story line and flow is great. This book does need to be checked and corrected for misspelled words, delete or add to some sentence . Also, some sentence don't make sense. Clean the book up for a 5 rating.
