Pastor Tim Riordan has a way of translating complex biblical verses into life lessons people, wherever they are in their faith journey, can easily understand, retain, and cultivate. I love how he’s woven captivating, down-to-earth personal stories throughout the book, creating a connection between he and the reader. Those are the best books! Wisdom Speaks: Life Lessons from Proverbs has truly helped me learn more and grow in my own walk with God, and I highly recommend it to anyone desiring the same.

In its simplest, secular, layperson form a proverb is merely a popular naïve and tangible saying which is often and sometimes even repeated ad nauseam. A proverb expresses a reality which is based on sound judgment or a happening in life itself. They are quite often metaphorical much like the parables of our Lord which are used to illustrate a specific ethical viewpoint of a religious principle. And those which happen to describe a Lord’s golden basic rule of behavior which we know as a being a maxim.

What the author of “Wisdom Speaks: Life Lessons from Proverbs” has done in his book, is to have categorized the various topics in our daily Christian lives according to the needs we have: personal and family related, and our relationships of all around us. The author, Tim Riordan, accomplishes this by giving his readers introspective questions for them to ponder over as they live their daily lives with the decisions they need to make in them.

When we talk about wisdom and what Mr. Riordan seems to want to do for us, I believe the answer can be found in:

Proverbs 15:33 [KJV] = “The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility.”

And when and if we follow what’s stated in Proverbs I feel when we arrive at a point in our relationship to the Lord that we can recognize who he is. The best citation for this, I believe, can be found in:

Ezekiel 24:24 [KJV]
“Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.”

For wanting to transform our lives through a better understanding of PROVERBS, I happy to give Mr. Riordan, the 5 STARS, he’s getting from this Christian book reviewer.
