Martin Eichendorf has been imprisoned in the supermax Werra I for over 2 years. The young journalist is the victim of a conspiracy: As he has been knowing too much, he got locked up for lifetime - but then he accomplishes an escape! He is full of joy, but not for very long: Right after his flight, he realises that he has been on a small island in the middle of the sea all the time.
He manages to outwit the authorities: While they expect that Eichendorf drowned in the sea during his escape, he keeps hiding on the island actually. Soon, however, he feels similarly imprisoned in secrecy than he did back in the prison cell.
