Josiah Coates is an engineer living and working in Miami. He has spent his career working as an engineer for major international shipping companies in New York City, Bristol UK, Washington DC, Boston and Miami. He still works full time as an engineer, and is currently writing several math textbooks and technical books to add his experiences to the public domain.

Mr. Coates was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, and studied at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. He also has a masters from Stevens Institute of Technology and an MBA from Duke University. He lives in Miami with his wife and two sons.
