Getting away with murder...Newly sober Frank Harper is solving cold cases left and right, finally impressing his boss. But Frank's unhappy--he misses the excitement of active police work. Meanwhile, in Cooper's Mill, the sleepy Ohio town where Frank's daughter and grandson live, things are heating up. Local man Joe Hathaway is about to stand trial for three counts of attempted murder, and Frank's been called in to testify. Joe's confident he'll win. But, just in case, he's got a plan--one that will finally bring Frank Harper to his knees.

I have read other frank Harper novels and have to say I don't like it that the bad guy keeps getting away. Especially this one who can do no wrong. These novels are fun to read and the dialogue and characters are well done. I think frank needs a new nemesis.
There are multiple references to events that happened in an earlier part of the series. A little confusing at times, especially when the grand finale of this story is set in a previously used location that I suspect was critical to the outcome (of the previous story). In spite of that, I enjoyed this one and it mostly stands on its own. Good character development, detailed descriptions without becoming tedious. If you don't know what a yellow jacket is, the title is perhaps confusing. Also, the bee keeper and his son were not important enough to the story to justify the chapters devoted to them. Intriguing enough to leave me wondering what the bad guy will do next. The series will live on.

This was an excellent read. I was very glad to see the primary character in these books starting to get his life back together again. For me that was a huge plus. Again lots of action to keep me engrossed. Also a very good plot and a combo of good things happening as well as bad things. I believe that's called life. Well done to author Greg Enslen.
I loved the prior 3 books of the series, but, I felt this one fell short. I wanted more action throughout the book, instead it was pretty monotonous and repetitive until the last 20%. I LOVE Greg Enslen's writing style and will read more of his books but this one was not what I was hoping for to end a series. All in all, I would recommend the Frank Harper series as the story and the characters are wonderful.
Frank Harper adventures got better and better. The thrill and danger of his activities kept me glued to the book right to the end. So sad to see the outcome for some of the characters. I hope Frank Harper will come back in another book one day. I truly enjoyed every book.
Have really enjoyed all 4 of these books, great stories, very believable characters, I live about 25 miles east of Cooper's Mill,(Tipp City, Ohio) I really like knowing the area so well, it's like I am in the area while I am reading the book, hoping for # 5 soon.
An easy to read thriller. The more you read, the more thrilling and mysterious it became. Excellent character development and a story that flowed smoothly. I will definitely read more by this author.
Believable characters with providing reader with interest in the next turn of events. Fast paced, easy reading and enjoyable. Looking forward to the next book and events for Frank and his life as a PI in Ohio.
Good police story. Kept you engaged until the end. Can't believe that the killer ended up getting away at the end. Can't wait to r if the author picks up in the next book.
This one kept me up a bit to finish it. Mr Enslen is terrific at suspense and keeping the reader wondering what will happen. Then some of the things that happen are downright a HUGE BUMMER. I don't want to spoil the story, but things happen that certainly CAN happen and show that being a law enforcement officer has its risks and some risks are permanent. Also, the finale is still undecided...guess we have to look for the next book. Hopefully the good guys won't underestimate the bad guys so poorly next time.
This story is about a small town and Frank Harper. Frank used to be a police officer in the big city, but things happened and drinking took that away. Now he works on the Cold Cases. He is really good at it too! He and his partner have closed many of the cases, but he misses the big city police work. In a small town called Cooper's Mill, Joe Hathaway is about to stand trail for three attempted murders. This is also the town where Frank's daughter and grandson live. Frank is a witness in this case. Joe thinks he has a fool proof plan to make sure he 'gets off' of the charges. But there are some things you can't plan for! I loved this story!!! The characters are wonderful and very believeable. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book. This is my opinion of it.....and more Frank Harper Mysteries please!!!
I was given this book Yellow Jacket , a Frank Harper Mystery , written by Greg Enslen. I was surprisingly hooked on this one! Didn't want to put it down. Frank is now sober and working in Alabama to close cold cases. Frank and his partner are able to close many of the cold cases. And now he is ready to retire or semi retire . There is one case he is a witness to in Coopers Mill where Hathaway has murdered seveal people. This is an evil man with the gift of persuasion. Coopers Mill is also where Frank is going to move after retirement and be close to his daughter and grandson. As the story moves along so do the surprising twist and turns that evolve throughout the book. This was an enjoyable read that was easy to follow even though I had not read the previous books in the series. It makes you feel like you know the characters. Highly reccommend!
Okay, straight up I'm gonna give this book five stars just because I wrote it and I'm proud of it. It's the fourth book in the Frank Harper Mysteries series and ties nicely (I think) into the previous three books, especially "Black Ice." It's really a continuation of that story and Joe Hathaway, the killer in that book. I hope everyone likes it!! Plus I want to count it towards my "Read in 2018" list--I really did read it several times this year, and I think that should count, right?
Frank was a cop in the city and it took a toll on him, to start the drinking. Now working on cold cases, and visits with his daughter and grandchild in a small town. Frank will be a witness, to a murder case, in which the guy feel he has a good alibi and will get off, Seems like Frank is getting back to life again. The plot has twists, and an unusual ending. Good series
