After her efforts to track down her missing mother nearly get her killed, Julie Sampson ends up on the run, hiding out in a cabin in the protective custody of a police officer. Though his insistence that she follow his rules irritates her, Julie cannot help being drawn to the gruff, handsome cop.
While this is the fourth book in the Owned and Protected series, it can easily be read as a stand alone novel. Although, some of the former couples are mentioned in passing they really don't play that much of a role in the overall plot. This book pulled me in almost from the first page and never let go, making me wish I could simply read it in one sitting. Nice mix of romantic heat, suspense and a bit of kink you've come to expect from this series, made this another great read by Measha Stone.
Re-Read: 9/7/22 4.2 stars. I liked this reread better than I did the first time around. I think that was mostly because I was in the right mood for this specific type of romance, more than anything else.
The dynamic is hot and fiery. The healing and helping was so sweet and satisfying. The aftercare in certain parts could’ve used some work in my opinion, but after thinking about it a little I think that was because of a lack of communication on both of their parts.
I really liked the kink and the play and how John helped Julie let go finally.
I’m glad I reread this book, it’s a whole different experience when you’re in the right mindset.
Wowsers, I've always been a bit your-kink-isn't-my-kink-but-that's-ok about pet play, but Measha Stone certainly makes it sound hot!
Despite what I'm sure some readers will think, this is a FULLY consensual BDSM romantic suspense. I've read all three previous books in the series so didn't even need to read the blurb, I just one-clicked on this. Whilst it very briefly mentions characters from previous books this can definitely be read as a stand alone, as can the other books in the series.
I know these books will contain humiliation play and push my boundaries a little, but the heroine ALWAYS has a safe word. In fact there are several scenes where the hero even points out that Julie could have walked away at any point. For me this makes the difference between a book that feels almost abusive and one that I can enjoy.
Julie is searching for her Mother, but this puts her in danger and being hunted down by some very bad men. John is the policeman who comes to her rescue and helps keep her from danger. However Julie often acts without thinking, putting herself at risk, so John uses their shared need for BDSM to calm Julie down and help her behave more rationally.
John is all hot alpha male with a really tough, dominant streak. He is not one to back down but all his discipline comes from a good and caring place. Whilst some might see her actions as foolish, I 'got' Julie's choices and decisions. She is a really strong character and I, for one, really liked her. She is a survivor but has never lost her hope and kindness.
The plot had good pace and a perfect balance of plot to kinky scenes. I loved how we saw their connection grow both through their 'play' and their regular interactions. You really got a feel of how genuinely John cared about Julie's mental well-being, as well as her physical safety. The story has some really good plot twists at the end, and a very unexpected saviour!
I bought and devoured this book in one day. I loved every single word of it from start to finish, so much so that I now want to re-read the entire series! It isn't a story that will be for everyone, it contains humiliation play, pet play and sado-masochistic punishment scenes. It's very steamy and both NSFW and very 18+. If you love kinky reads that push your boundaries then you'll enjoy this.
His Captive Kitten by Measha Stone is book 4 in the Owned and Protected series. This is the story of Julie and John. I have read the previous books but I do think you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. John is a police officer who cabin Julie ends up being in when things go terrible wrong when she went looking for her Mom. John is know going to take Julie in to be his Pet since she was to hardheaded to listen to his warnings of the danger she was getting into. Enjoyed this hot read.
This story was awesome! Measha writes beautiful complicated stories with dominant men and women who are not afraid to soar. There was so much emotion and drama and extremely hot scenes!
The latest story in the Owned and Protected Book did not disappoint. I really like the way the relationship between Julie and John developed. The beginning as basically anonymous play partners set the beginning boundaries of the relationship. He knows what turns her on and he finds her very appealing. Then when they meet again and he becomes involved in her search for her mother and protecting her from thugs that seem to be pursuing her for reasons neither understand, we see a relationship bloom in the context of owner and kitten. This is a more intense relationship than in the previous books, but just as believable. Julie is looking for someone to trust and as much as she doesn't want to, at times, submission to John is exactly what she needs.
Not that many authors manage to include so much BDSM in a story that has so much danger, and the wild ride that combines the two is absolutely wonderful. I devoured the book in two sittings (it would have been one, but it was getting late last night), frequently on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes both BDSM and suspense.
I read this in one sitting and then started it again. The plot is wonderfully tense and suspenseful, with action scenes interwoven by intense punishment and play. The heroine is absolutely wonderful and my heart broke for her. She so deserved her HEA. John is perfect for her and I was delighted that he never abused her trust or broke from his role as her alpha - the last couple of series I've read have been really disappointing in that regard but this book didn't let me down for a second. It was also really fun to see the characters from the previous books in the series again, which reminds me to go re-read them! Really enjoying this series and looking forward to more.
I stopped reading at 54% so I am not rating this book. It was okay, but as the famous break-up line proclaims, “it’s not you, it’s me.” Meaning... the book was decent, but it wasn’t as good as I had hoped. I love books with dom/sub themes and pet-play is a kink I enjoy reading about, but I did not find this book all that erotic. The characters seemed flat to me and I wasn’t pulled into the story. All this adds up to DNF.
Julie is in hiding after she gets in trouble while looking for her missing mother. She is hiding in a cabin with John, a police officer and he plans to make her his pet. Soon sparks are flying between them and she falls for his dominance. Will she trust him? Fast-paced read with intense chemistry. Plenty of twists and turns and lots of steam. I really liked it.
Intense - Captivating This is an engaging and suspenseful romance with all kinds of "OMG" "NO Way" and "He!! No, you didn't" moments sprinkled with plot twists you never see coming. The characters are easy to connect with and the story flows smoothly The chemistry between John and Julie is off the charts - there are times I am not sure if they are going to shred each other or love each other - seriously though kitten has some claws! Julie is such a strong and quick-witted heroine - I enjoyed her quirks and her passion - she knows when to fight and when to submit - and she isn't whiny about the hand she was dealt either! John - How do you describe him - there were times I wanted to smack him upside the head (seriously) I got why he did what he did but it does not mean that I agreed with all his choices This was my first book in this series - it can be read as a standalone - just be prepared to want more with regards to supporting characters
When Police Officer John is sent to check on a friend of a friend he’s surprised to find the mysterious woman from the BDSM club he’d encounter a few nights earlier. He’s soon drawn in by Julie’s desperate mission to find her missing mother.
Julie is fiercely independent and impulsive. When she follows a lead to an apartment linked to her mother she ends up hurt when a meth lab blows up. John is called to the hospital and she must learn to rely on him while running from the men who are after her.
Her messed up child hood has her craving an escape and John’s neat and orderly world is rocked by her combative nature. Julie isn’t an ordinary submissive, she fights the help offered at every turn and challenges John constantly.
I liked the story line in this as well as the smoking hot scenes. Once again pet-play is heavily featured but John and Julie are definitely equal partners in the relationship.
Another awesome story written by Measha Stone that just sucks you in. You can feel all the emotions from John and Julie as they try to figure out why and who is after Julie. In the meantime, John ties to keep her mind busy by playing with her. THey met in a BDSM club after all. As things get dangerous and Julie gets more impulsive in her actions, it's going to take John to rein her in and keep things under control while he tries to figure out what is going on. There's danger, mystery and heartbreak as the story develops. Wonderful story and I would LOVE to see some of the other characters get stories of their own!
John met her at the club and played a scene with her but that was only the beginning. His Kitten was trouble and attracted more trouble but he wanted to protect her and help her with her kinky needs.
Loved, loved, loved this book! The 4th in the series, though each can be read as a stand-alone, this is my favorite so far. I loved the relationship between John and Julie; they really seemed to be equals in the relationship. At every turn, Julie could have walked away from any punishments John gave her, but she didn't and I liked that. Looking forward to the next book (I hope there is one!)
I love Measha Stone's books. I have read all the books in this series, and I love them more and more with each reread and each new book. I just can't get enough of the series or her writing.
Julie's mom disappeared 6 months ago and now she's doing everything she can to find her. One night, she's at a BDSM club to get what she needed and she played with a new Dom. The next day, the same man showed up at her house to check on her, not knowing that Kitten and Julie were the same person. That's when he figures out that she's hiding something.
John is a cop who had a friend of a friend ask him to check on Julie. When he meets her, he realizes that he got to know her elsewhere. When she's nearly blown up at a meth house, he realizes that she's in real danger and he just can't have that.
The petplay is awesome, and so are all the sex scenes. Measha really writes in a way to draw us into the scene and get us to feel what's going on. I mostly liked Julie, but sometimes she was a little too quick to rush in. She did bring some of her problems on herself. However, I do admire her loyalty and honor and sense of duty. She feels responsible for her mother, so she's going to do what she can to make sure her mom's safe. As for John, I went back and forth on liking him. I think that sometimes he went a little further than I would've liked and I thought that he should've maybe listened a little bit more to what Julie was saying, but that's just me. Overall, I liked him more than I disliked him, so there's that. I really enjoyed the book and can't wait to see what happens next.
This was way more intense than I initially thought it was going to be. After the stress she'd been through, Julie was supposed to meet Jimmy at the club except once she arrived, she received a text from him saying something came up and he wouldn't be able to make it. There was no relationship there, just play partners, but she was hoping for some relief. So, instead of playing, she thought she would watch for a while but the couple performing seemed to be reciting a script. In discus and disappointment, she started to leave when a gentleman started a conversation and eventually asked her if she would like to play for the evening. Afterward, John was wanted her phone number to check on her the next day or even to grab a coffee but Julie, who normally kept to herself, declined. Two days later he shows up at her apartment asking her if her name is Julie, he'd known her as 'kitten', and when she acknowledged the name, he told her that her friend Kara had asked his friend Blake to come by and check on her since she hadn't been answering. The coincidences just keep coming. The mystery that runs through this storyline kept me on my toes and then there is the fact, they weren't sure who to trust and not trust with trying to find out the information they were seeking. The push and pull, the D/s relationship, the scenes, the piecing together the puzzle they were trying to solve all kept me tied to this book to its conclusion. This was a terrific read.

I received an Advance Reader Copy for HIS CAPTIVE KITTEN (Owned and Protected, Book #4) written by Measha Stone and voluntarily reviewed this book. Julie’s mother has been missing for the last six months, and what little Julie has been able to find did not add up nor has her mother been acting as expected. On the night she really needed a Dom, Julie’s regular play partner was a no-show. Instead, she draws the eye of John, who was not even there to play that night, but there was just something intriguing about her. An intense session between them ends abruptly and Julie leaves the club, only to have John show up at her door unexpectedly the next day. John soon finds himself protecting her and aiding Julie in her search, especially when it becomes clear that her life may be in imminent danger. Of course, he wants to help and do it all his way…the only way he knows how.
Intense pet play and punishment is meted out to Julia, who was impulsive and complicated situations where patience would have been more appreciated. But then again, she was used to taking care of herself, so relying on someone else and depending on them to help or to control actions was not easy for her. This was a fabulous read, with hot & steamy BDSM elements, and interesting twists developing which keep the reader guessing.
Another wonderful story in the Owned and Protected series. This is Book 4 and can be read as a stand alone but I believe it is enjoyable to read all of them. Measha Stone intertwines the characters from earlier books and they are an integral part of the various stories and one feels comfy and cozy. Each book tells its own story, no repetition, no reiteration. In this story we meet another Sexy, Alpha, Dominant male, John and an independent, strong woman, Julie. The chemistry between them is amazing and allows them to begin to trust one another, admire each other, and overcome many adversities. Julie is determined, used to making her own decisions but this time she is in danger and needs protection. John is strict, knows what she needs and has no problem giving her lessons in obedience. At first, Julie isn’t always grateful to John but she finds that she likes when he takes control and LOVES to feel his Dominance! The pet play is awesome, the sex scenes are HOT and steamy. The story is fast paced with BDSM elements, filled with romance, caring, love and well written. We realize hope can be achieved. Another book that is a page turner from page one! And wonderful reading pleasure from Measha Stone!! Thank you!!
I am voluntarily leaving a review for a copy of this ARC. Once again the inimitable Measha Stone does not disappoint with her gripping BDSM suspense read that I can highly recommend as a book you will not be able to put down without reading in one sitting! Julie does not have a filter and says it has it is, she is impulsive, and headstrong. Her mission in life is to protect and look after her drug addicted mom. Her mom has been missing for 6 months and all that is on Julie’s mind is how to find her! Julie also has a casual playmate Jimmy at a BDSM club. On the night Jimmy does not turn up for their usual play John a Dom and also a cop sees her and they play! Can John keep her safe from the bent cop, and whoever is trying to find her? Who is the bent inside cop? Can John help her find her mom? Julie holds a dark secret deep inside her will John be able to extract it? His beautiful kitten is really getting to him! Why can’t Julie hate him? Lots of unanswered questions for you to think about. All you need to do to find out is read this superb book, one-click it today.
After a chance encounter at their BDSM club, John and Julie find their lives entwined. Julie is searching for her mother who has been missing for 6 months. In her search, Julie is close to tracking her mom when the apartment she was about to check blows up, harming Julie. John is a cop and after being asked to check on Julie by a mutual friend of theirs, John finds Julie hurt from the explosion and realizes she is in deeper trouble than she knew. John is the dom and Julie the submissive in this partnership. They end up in a secluded cabin to hide out while John shows Julie how to submit to him as he tries to keep Julie safe. There are twists and turns, danger and sexy lessons to learn as John and Julie learn to work together to get what each needs from the other. John has a devious mind and knows how to get Julie to follow rules and enjoy what she desires from her submission. I enjoyed this story of push and pull, suspense and danger, along with the couple involved in their sadist/masochist relationship. The completely unexpected twist in the plot was a surprising turn of events.
Julie is searching for her mother, who is missing for half a year now. To blow of some steam she is going to a club, but her normal buddy there doesn’t show up and she is doing a scene with John. After it she goes home without giving him information about herself. But through a friend of a friend John shows unexpected (from both sides) up at her place. Still Julie doesn’t want to involve him with her, since she is used to solving things herself.
That changes when in the search of her mother she shows up at the wrong place at the wrong time and is hurt by an explosion. John helps her and keeps her safe in a very special en hot way. He makes her his kitten and learns her how to behave. That isn’t easy for Julie, the behaving as a kitten is, but in between she makes split second decisions even if John has warned her not to do that.
What follows is a lot of action in and outside the bedroom. With some twists at the end when Julie gets closer to her mother.
Great read if you are into owned and protected stories.
Book 4 in the Owned and Protected series, but it can be read as a stand alone. It features John and Julie. Both characters made a short appearance in one of the previous books..
What I love about Measha Stone’s writing is that her characters are so complex and developed. She puts in a lot of detail and thought into the motives of the characters and their relationship.
Julie was a character who i wanted to hug and smack on the head at the same time. Something John wants to do also. She is strong and used to take care of herself and everyone else. She kicks a**, but she is also very vulnerable once you get to know her.
John was very strict and determined, but also knows so well what Julie needs. These two characters battle who is the strongest. There is a lot of action and I am surprised my ereader didn’t melt. This books also has some pet play scenes which I am a fan off. It is not heavy stuff though.
I enjoyed this fourth book in the series. This one focuses on Julie and John. A desperate search for her mother leaves Julie in more trouble than she is prepared to handle. A friend of a friend, John, steps in to protect her. Just like the other books in the series, danger sends these two on the run.
Julie and John were both likeable characters. Julie, at times, seemed to lack any sense of self preservation. It was nice to see her mature as the story went on, and really once her mom came on the scene the quirks in her personality became much more understandable. John had the stern, alpha Dom thing down. At times he seemed a bit overly aggressive, but all in all he was a likeable character. The clashing of the two dominant personalities was probably my favorite aspect of the book. The two just worked really well together. This has definitely been and enjoyable series, I hope to read more from it in the future.
BDSM romance √ Spankin √ Kitten and her master √ Light suspence √
My first read from thus author and I enjoy it. It's been long time I read BDSM romance. For some scene got me cringed cause hard n rough steamy scene on wood bark? That's gotta be seriously hurt like hell n not a turn on for me. While some of the other scene are quite a turn on for me like when John get all dominant, protective and possesive. And I like Julie feistiness. Force to be the grown up with an addicted mother, Julie have to be the one who take care of her. Including when she gone missing all of the sudden. One thing lead to another, Julie found her self witnessing a cookout house got blown up, chase by the tugs, wanted by the police and on the run with one hot domineering cop who love to see her crawl and meow with a tail plug in her behind. Yummm lol

Our heroine gets in over her head and our hero wants to save her by any means necessary. But she keeps doing the wrong things in an attempt to find her missing mother.
This is book four of the series, but it is written as a standalone. No prior reading is required.
You know how some books build, slowly drawing you into the story and the action, while other grab hold of you from the first sentence and won't let go? Well, this is one of latter. From the very first chapter, I was drawn into the the story. The scenes and characters are well crafted and come alive, seeming to leap right off the page. The result is an incredibly intense romance, with punishments, D/S, BDSM and a bit of pet play. There is also plenty of steam with a nice HEA to round it all off. Overall, a wonderful story and I look forward to more from this author.
Highly recommended

Julie and John meet at a BDSM club after Julie’s partner reneges. John sees her watching the play and moves to meet her. They agree to one play session and then Julie leaves. Through a weird set of “favors,” involving mothers and hoodlums, John ends up at Julie’s apartment. From there, their interaction gets more dangerous and involved. Both John and Julie are extremely independent people. John is an exceedingly stern Dom: and Julie pushes his limits. I really enjoyed the whole premise of this story and how the simple turned into a way more complicated adventure. Will John be able to keep her safe? Will Julie cooperate with John’s orders? Will Julie learn to be a much more obedient kitten? This is an excellent, well-written story that kept my interest from page one and never let me go.
Although this book is part of a series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. Julie, the heroine, was a character who I could empathize with, sympathize with, and yet still want to shake really hard. She is strong, impulsive and obstinate, always trying to control her own vulnerability. John, the hero, is clearly conflicted about her. He is determined and caring, and understands what Julie needs is to give up control, so that she can gain control over the chaos in her life.
There is a lot of suspense and action in this story, including some plot twists that I was not expecting at all. If you read other books in the series, or even just the blurb, you know this is going to be a very kinky couple. But there’s a lot of emotion packed into this story, and I really liked their HEA.

I kept waiting for this book to become more exciting but it just never did. I want to like this author, I really do. Unfortunately this is the third book I've tried in the third book that has left me unimpressed. The author is a good writer however I just could not get into the characters or the stories. For whatever reason it just didn't draw me in didn't hold my interest I found myself skimming jumping past the sex scenes which are usually my favorite part, because I felt they lacked authenticity.
It kind of felt like the author has never actually experienced a dominant submissive relationship. Kind of like the author was just going off of what they thought those relationships might be like. All in all not a bad option if you can't find anything else
