Shrug

Could have just told Damon's origin story. I didn't need a recap from his pov and it was just me. I'm ready for the good stuff. Definitely a filler book.

This was not a bad book. It is written in Damon’s POV.
We find out who Damon was and who Camilla was to him. I was afraid that she was going to be his long lost love and that is why he avoided red-heads, but that is not it.

This goes back to before and after with Damon.

I liked the back story of Damon but it felt weirdly out of place in the book sequencing seeing as we get hints about Beckham & her having a past but nothing with Damon. Also, his POV from current times didn’t add anything to the story.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Book three in the Fated Wings series though as a novella it may be more like 2.5 though that does not make it any less awesome. This book provides us deeper insight into Damon himself as we get glimpses of both the past that shaped who is is and his side of things as Ava came into their lives. I have to say it make of few more things make sense when put into perspective and I highly enjoyed the insight into the character as whole. If you enjoy this series then you really should pick up this one as well. I give it 4/5 stars.

I know this whole book was to explain Damon's tortured soul, but it fell a little flat for !e. Tbh, I was a little bored and skimmed parts of it. This series keeps disappointing, so I am done.

Eh🤷‍♀️it was alright. It was cool to see Damon’s backstory, but I don’t think it was needed. I don’t feel like it added anything to the overall story.

The Fallen One by C.R. Jane is a short but clarifying addition to the series, offering background rather than forward momentum. This novella focuses on Damon’s past, specifically the unresolved guilt surrounding Camilla, a name briefly referenced in the first book and then left unexplored. Here, readers finally learn who she is and why her memory continues to weigh so heavily on him.

Rather than pushing the overarching plot ahead, this instalment fills in emotional and narrative gaps. It explains key events that shaped Damon before the main story began, giving his actions and mindset in the earlier books more context. For readers who enjoy understanding a character’s motivations and history, this added insight is valuable, even if the story itself remains contained in the past.

The novella also revisits Damon’s early relationship with Eva, retelling their initial connection from his perspective. While these moments don’t introduce new developments, they offer a slightly different lens on interactions readers have already seen, helping to round out Damon as a character and reinforce the foundations of their relationship.

That said, The Fallen One does feel more like supplementary material than a standalone story. It doesn’t progress the timeline or introduce new conflicts, and at times it reads like information that could have been woven into the earlier books. However, there is something to be said for having these details gathered in one place. By separating this backstory into its own novella, the main series remains more streamlined, avoiding disruptions to pacing and momentum.

Overall, this is a solid companion piece rather than a must-read continuation. Readers invested in Damon and curious about his past will likely appreciate the clarity it provides, while those looking for plot advancement may find it less essential. As a contextual addition to the series, it does its job well, even if it doesn’t aim to do much more than that.

A book all about Damon! A book about the broody fallen angel who we met in book one 'First Impressions'. This novella switches back and forth between past and present and we learn so much about why Damon is the way he is. Why did this angel fall? What exactly was he responsible for as an angel.. We get it all in this book. I'm usually not a fan of reading novellas but the way C.R Jane writes her characters makes you, as a reader, crave to get every last drop of information you can on the characters. This novella was no different then her other books, it was fabulously written and I couldn't put it down. It was a decent length and typical for a novella. Being able to get inside Damon's head and see his thoughts and emotions brings a whole new perspective to some scenes we have already read in the 2 novels already out.
This book was such a tease to the 3rd book in the series! Thank you C.R. Jane for the opportunity to read this book!

This was a great novella in the Fated Wings Series. I loved how C.R. Janes gave us some of Damon Pierce’s backstory along with his perspective of certain scenes in book 1 & 2. ** If you haven’t read the first 2 books, I highly recommend reading those before starting this novella. **

The character development for Damon throughout the book is amazing, I loved seeing the depth and how far he has come and what led him to become a fallen angel. It had love and betrayal and was like a mini-emotional rollercoaster (some of it was a little predictable – but that didn’t make it any less remarkable). & on another note, no major grammatical or spelling errors stood out to me while reading.

This was a very short read, but very worth it! I can’t wait to read Mason & Bickham’s novellas as well as the next book in the series!

Full Disclosure: I did receive this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

CR really knows how to pull my heart strings! I love that she wrote a POV for Damon that includes both the past that lead to his fall (pre Eva) and his time with her over the previous two books. We get to see just exactly who he is and what circumstances have lead him to be the angel he is with Eva.

Reading this was an emotional and inspiring experience. Damon is so much more than the disillusioned, famous football star we have come to love. As a reader, you are taken along his story to feel his pain, love, sadness, and hope. The writing is so amazing I felt it all. We also get a glimpse of just what Eva means to him, and what she represents. Not to mention just a little hint of what is to come in the next book!

Dissepointed

Sorry to say this but i was extremely dissapointed with this book...Does not take long to read as short to say the least...The storyline was really poor...The last book better but still short in length ...When i read the first offering in this series i was exited to read the next installment but since then the excitement has died down and after this poor effort i am dubious about the next one being any better...Bring the 4th book back to the excellence of the first please...and also give us a longer read please...after waiting for my preordered book to arrive i want to get my teeth in to it and spend a few hours enjoying your much awaited efforts...Please gifted author...still ooking forward to your next book with a hopeful smile.x

So I was disappointed at first that this book was not a continuation of the last one (I simply downloaded it and started reading before I realized it was a novella) that being said. It was a good addition to the story. I like that you got to see a glimpse into Damon’s past and at the darkness that is always present with him. I love that C.R. Jane gave us this insight of Damon as it helps understand where he is coming from. I wish Camilla hadn’t been caught in the crossfire of a world that was not her own – it made the betrayal so much worse for Damon.
I wasn’t a huge fan of some of the flashback because it was like I was reading the same scenes from the other books even though they were from Damon’s POV. I did however love the last one that was not mentioned in the first two books.

Inside the mind of a fallen angel

It’s so refreshing to have a novella that concentrates on the other characters, they all have a story to tell. Sometimes it’s not necessary to the main story, and other times it’s a much needed understanding, but it’s not required in the main novel.
This is one of them!
I love love all the characters but we really needed to understand Damon’s psyche, I’m looking forward to a spin off from Beckham and mason as I’m sure they will enrich Eva’s story

I felt like at the end of the previous book I was so thrown by the cliff hanger and then I'm just thrown into Damon's story. Now don't get me wrong, I love Damon. He is swoony, dark, and mysterious. I'd love to learn more about him. But maybe not in this context. I just felt like I was having whiplash and just kinda wanted the book to be over. The scenes with Eva were adorbs but I honestly didn't care for the flashback scenes with his backstabbing friend or the homely girl he had a weird relationship with. If anything it made me kind of like him less.

This was completely unnecessary. I skimmed all of this in about an hour and it was still a waste of a perfectly good hour. We didn't need the story retold from his POV because it was obvious what he was thinking when it happened. If this was meant to endear us to him by sharing his past, it backfired massively, as it just further proved that he's selfish, arrogant, and terrible.

Also, this author desperately needs a vocab lesson. It's not gratefulness, it's gratitude. It's not uncomfortableness, it's discomfort.

Waste of Time

This book was unnecessary

Started off as a really cute series. But as the series progressed, it got boring to annoying. Not only is the series incomplete (I’ve even asked the author if it was in the near future and got no response) but it goes in circles. It seems pointless to write a 8 series when more than half seemed to be literally the same stuff being written.
I practically just skimmed the rest after book 3 just so I wasn’t wasting time
Each book ending ends up with more questions than answers. I’m so confused

Events are out of order.

I really wanted to give this book five stars because I absolutely love this series but the after events are out of order. How is she falling asleep watching movies and in his bed and then a chapter or two over she is alone with him. Also this is from another characters POV but besides the insight into his past nothing else popped out at me. It was the exact same as a previous with nothing that I didn't already know.

Loved it!

Reading this has given me so much more insight on Damon, what he was like before Eva came into the picture. Seeing his attitude towards everything before Eva was an eye opener to how much he's changed. Learning his past was amazing, although very sad. As if I didn't love him enough, this book cements it just from his character development alone.

It was a great read and I'm very much looking forward to reading more from C.R. Jane!

Awesome story

I wasn’t sure I was gonna like this story because I was unsure on how the author would take it. I’m usually not into a guys point of view, but this story changed my mind and was very good. It was well written and kept an even timeline of past and present while explaining his motivation and why he is who he is and how he got here. I can’t wait for more books like this from the author and hope she gets all the guys in the story!

Want to know about Damon?
Then this is the book for you!

Damon is beautiful, arrogant, and cynical.
A football star.
And a fallen angel.

In this story, we get an in-depth look into why Damon is the way he is.
What he has had to overcome and come out the victor.
You get to see his struggles, his emotions, and his determination.

He has always been a favorite, and this story just made me fall in love with him more.

Highly recommend it.

I like Damon

Okay, so I like this series, although for some reason I dislike the flashbacks. Just get to the actual current story already please. This felt more like a “filler” novel or a “teaser” rather than a part of the actual series. Don’t misunderstand me, I actually enjoy these books, but I’m waiting for the epic love, I’m totally okay with the love triangle, and I’m waiting for the heroine to become a badass.

Nice little tid bits

This novila was full of fun little tid bits from Damon's point of view as well as his back story. I enjoyed reading it even though I was wanting to skip through to find out what is going on with our girl! I swear I never get this tempted to skip through books unless I'm reading one of C.R. Jane's books. She is so talented at creating a desire to know the whole story RIGHT NOW!!!

Challenging read, but worth it

This book took me a while to get through, because I struggled at first to understand what was happening. Once I figured out what was going on, I was enthralled, but it was about halfway through before I felt comfortable reading. Excellently written, with the thought process in mind, but I might have come to the reveal sooner, rather than later. Otherwise, amazing, and a key to this series!

It's a novella and considering we don't get much from the previous books about this character's story and history, I wanted to tick this one off before reading the next book.

The backstory for Damon was shockingly not bad but it's trying to stay on this detachment level that doesn't reach the sad angel vibe it wants to reach. The present scenes just makes it so weird how these are supposed to be powerful supernaturals and yet can't find Eva.

Disconnected from the series. DNF

I loved reading the first two books and saw the journey. Then eagerly started this book and had many ‘what is going on?!’ moments when the journey stopped and whole different book started. This would have been best after the series to fill in the gaps not diverting from the storyline. Felt like it was an after thought to catch up on a missing segment.

100% a filler book. I didn't feel like this book was necessary. It didn't add anything to the main storyline. His origin story could have been told from his POV throughout the other books. As a novella, if I wasn't so impatient to get to the meat of the story, it's a nice filler. I liked getting Damon's side of things and how he felt, although it felt repetitive. I got his side and POV in the last couple books, so again, felt this book was unnecessary

In this Novella about Damon we learn a lot about his background and what has made him who he is today. It was really great getting to learn his background. It goes back and forth between the past and the present. You get to see things completely from Damon's perspective and how he feels about Eva. This was an enjoyable quick read.

I need more now!

Absolutely loved this book! I swear every book gets better and better some how. I’m so happy we got to learn more about Damon and where he comes from. It also shows different scenes from his point of view that we saw in the first 2 books from Eva’s! This was such a tease though and I need the next book now! Thanks again CR Jane for another AMAZING read!
