Only the good die young, and the priest is getting old. Hazel’s not happy when she’s forced to join the church’s annual chowder cook-off. But rumors of witches living in town are circulating, and the best place to hide is right under the witch-haters’ noses. At least until the priest ends up dead, and she’s on the suspect list.
She would love it if Peter could save her, but someone else will have to investigate this time. She hopes they don’t dig deep enough to find the cauldron in the cupboard. She’ll have to avoid balloons filled with holy water and work with some shifty witches if she’s going to discover the real killer and clear her good name.

Now that Peter has found out Hazel is a Witch things have calmed down a bit and he comes around. He loves her and doesn’t want to lose her. Cora and her talk a walk to the church not knowing she is about to get pushed into helping. She doesn’t like churches much but what can she do. The old Priest gives off bad vibes and she doesn’t like it.
When the Priest dies it is either from her Tea or from a pastry someone else has made. Now she is on the suspect’s list so she is out of this one and can’t help Peter.
Now this one was good it has a few twists and surprises to learn through out the book. Some things you won’t see coming which makes it great. Not to mention an ex showing up.
Book four of Teas & Temptations. Cora and Hazel are peer pressured into going to the church gathering where Father Christopher is going to be the judge of the cooking contests. Is he murdered? Or is it just the May-day curse? The guy did not do his job well. He counseled a woman to stay with her abusive husband, fired the church secretary when church funds went missing, etc.
Hazel is quickly a suspect because one of the last things he tasted was her ice tea. Anyway Hazel chats up all the main suspects. The continuing story of her and the Chief gets a lot of play, introducing Hazel's ex-boyfriend into the mix. She learned more of the town's lore, that Stonebridge will always have a descendant of each of the four original witches. That prompts her to look into her and others ancestry to figure out who they are.
Quick, fun read. I'm going to give it 4.5 of 5. For me the conclusion of the mystery didn't flow logically from what had happened previously. It fit together, but but felt askew. In book three we know why the culprit confessed. The character development, the continuing story line and the romance was just as great as the other books.
When the local priest is murdered, Hazel wants to help Peter find who did it. The thing is, the search shows that priest wasn’t such a good man after all, and there are many suspects. To top it all off, Hazel’s ex-boyfriend is in town, sent by her mother... A few strides are made in discovering some things about the original four witches and their families in this book.
This is the fourth book in the series, and although the murder mystery is stand alone, the rest of the story is built on the backs of the preceding books. But don’t worry, they’re worth reading! This was a quick read, and a magical cozy mystery. The whole series is enjoyable and well worth the couple of hours it takes to read. Curl up with a pot of tea, and enjoy!
Wonderful. When she and her BFF are coerced into taking part in a church event, they do not expect the Reverend to end up dead. Now the town is up in arms again about a witches curse. Balloons full of holy water, poison, past hurts and a less than Christian attitude and life of the Reverend lead them to a whole host of suspects. Add in her ex-boyfriend, who is set on driving a wedge between her and her Police Chief only raises the temperature. A great plot that will have you going round in circles. Whilst the characters lead you to wast the next book NOW to see what else is in store for them.
Four Warned (Teas and Temptations Book 4) by Cindy Stark. To punish the inhabitants of Stonebridge for killing their friend for being a witch, Hazels many times her ancestor and friends cursed Stonebridge that every 40 years someone would die on 1st May. This year it’s Father Christopher who dies of anaphylactic shock. Hazel is a suspect for a little while then cleared. Another mystery for Hazel to investigate.
Hazel and a few other ladies of Stonebridge have entered the church ‘Chowder’ contest. The Priest judging the contest suddenly keels over and a 40 year curse strikes again.
I love when I do not figure out the ending halfway through. This group of Towns folks do not play well with others. The romance is tested so many times and left me wondering about the proverbial straw???
Wow, just...WOW! So much came out in this book! Things about the past in the town and it’s residents. A lot about Hazel too! The Mayday Curse is definitely one where the sins of the past impacts the future. But these town people aren’t all that innocent. Loving this series!
Another fun read in this enjoyable cozy mystery series
I’m enjoying this series quite a Characters are engaging with a good storyline. Stark has a nice way of weaving her storytelling and this is no exception..
I love watching the mysteries unfold in this book. This series gets better and better with each book and more intriguing. The are so fun and light yet so gripping, on to book 5!
This book is pretty good. Love the romance. The twists in it were very surprising. Love Hazel. Can't wait t see what happens next for her and Mr Kitty.
This series is such great fun! It's easy reading and I find myself halfway through the book in no time because I can't put it down. Love the characters, the cat and the mystery.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
It seems there's a curse attached to Stonebridge given, long ago, by a coven of witches in retaliation for the townspeople's actions towards two of them. Today it has come to fruition and Hazel is front and center to witness it. This puts Hazel on the suspect list. She's going to have to fight to prove her innocence. She's got the support of the Chief of Police, Peter, aka her boyfriend. Peter knows she's a witch, but he also knows she has nothing to do with the mysterious death. On top of all that, Hazel gets a visit from her past. One she could have done without. As Hazel slowly confides in Peter, he becomes her protector. Will he be able to protect her from angry townspeople willing to believe that all witches are evil and curses are real? I LOVE THESE BOOKS ! AWESOME STORYLINE WITH COMPLEX CHARACTERS WHO YOU IMMEDIATELY BECOME INVESTED IN ! A SEXY, FLIRTY READ ! ! ! I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK-I ALREADY PREORDERED !
