Barry Morgan is serving life for the most heinous of crimes, and as such, he is chosen as a guinea pig for some terrifying, government experiments. The experiments go horribly awry, and Barry manages to escape. He is, however, a changed man. The chemicals they injected him with have turned him invisible and have imbued him with superhuman strength.
Barry likes the ladies, and now that he’s free, he intends to have some fun. This is Barry’s story, and no details will be spared in the diary he keeps of his exploits.
You can’t catch what you can’t see. And you never know who’s watching…
This is an extreme horror novella with strong themes. Please proceed with caution.
Sam West is a British, extreme horror author with more than forty books to her name. If you like your fiction dark, gritty, gory, perverse and truly terrifying, then you're in the right place.
Wow, this was a mindscrew! I've never read Sam West prior to this, but her content and writing styles closely mirror Matt Shaw, who I am a known fan of. So anyone who reads one author and not the other is missing out. So this was basically like a much nastier version of Hollow Man. HG Wells would be spinning in his grave seeing how his original concept of an invisible man (Also an amazing classic!) was used here. I, however, enjoyed it a great deal. It was uncomfortable and gory and downright nasty at times. And yet, somehow, you were glued to this unseen perpetrator. Was he an evil spirit? Or government experiment? Or was he born with this ability? And the story goes back and forth from his point of view, which lets you see how despicable this person is, as we navigate through the mind of a psychopathic killer. Jane was such a tragic character for a multitude of reasons. But I thoroughly appreciated Sam West showing the reader just how much damage and trauma she still suffered from, after her initial incident with Barry Morgan. Not just flashbacks and nightmares, but body image, intimacy, and confidence issues, and just a troubled lifestyle. So kudos for addressing the mental health aspect of her plight! The ending seemed a bit random and abrupt, but this was a very short novella, so that was expected. As is the case with most stories of this length, I just wanted to have some more material to round out some of the rougher edges here, between the plot and characters. But, otherwise, this was an awesome extreme horror novella.
Sam West took a stab at the invisible man. I guess this is her version. No big shock that he's a horny murderer LOL. The story itself is fine, but I didn't really care for the diary style writing. I think it took a bit away from what was happening due to Barry's rambling. Overall, it's still a good read. Of course it is. Sam West wrote it
4.5 This book was insane and the the letter at the end for kindle readers that I have never seen in a book before and that had me smiling I really wish more authors did this I love Sam west writing he really knows how to capture readers from the very first page and considering how short his books are they are certainly impactful this has been one of his best books I’ve read from him and of course there on kindle unlimited I highly recommend this one it blew me away and that little touch at the end won me over and definitely turned me into one of his biggest fans
The whole premise with in first person form for most of your book, I loved it. Please make this a series Mrs? Sam West. I'm going through her whole catalog in Kindle and loving every damn one to for. Keep up the good work. Extreme horror isn't for everyone but the does it wonderfully!!
