Prison Saints #1

Prison Promise

Rate this book
I’m the Jackpot of all Men.
The Jackhammer of all F*cks.
The Jack of all Trades.

If you haven’t guessed it yet, the name’s Jack. For the last seven years, I gave up my freedom for a crime I didn’t commit, and all for money, my retirement, and my dreams.

When it was time to leave, my cellmate asked me for a favor. Find his sister, give her a letter, and leave. Easy, right?

Wrong.

Nothing about Ahri was easy. She was a stubborn beauty, an intoxicating mystery, and a feisty fury. She was nowhere near perfect, but perfection was overrated, and Ahrianna Lore was underrated.

I went along with the lie of who she thought I was—just some guy looking at the apartment next door. It was supposed to be a quick hookup, but curiosity got the best of me.

I read the letter.

Have you ever heard the story about the Jack of hearts whose heart was stolen by a beautiful thief?

4.5 Come to Daddy Stars

Jack and Ahri

I was instantly gripped from the very first page of Prison Promise by Demi Vice. In a world full of sin, lust, and sex. . . Prison Promise was dark and Gritty to a tee, needless to say Demi did not disappoint. This book was absolutely filthy, and do I mean filthy that was utterly addictive.

Jack Baron is released from a seven year sentence, for a crime he didn't commit. But he played the game with a wealthy benefactor and now he is living the dream. Wealth, riches, women, he is finally free to do whatever he pleases. But his former cellmate asks for one favor... to deliver a letter to his sister.

Ahri is a young woman who has been through hell. Struggling to make rent every month, she is alone, broke, and working two jobs. But Ahri is determined to build a name for herself, and try to run from her demons.

Little does she know, that her loneliness is about to come to an end.

"I'd risen from the hollow emptiness and become a legacy built on blood, sweat, and tears,"

Jack. . . there are no words to describe him.
Your typical anti-hero who does more harm then good. He's wild, unapologetic, and a deviant to the core. His past made him into the man he is today. The word no isn't in his vocabulary, Jack takes what he wants. When he meets Ahri, sparks instantly fly. She becomes his next obsession.

"I smaked Ahri's ass again, moving her up to where she knew it was time to take a seat on her throne.

When these two become exclusive, the chemistry is off the charts sizzling! They share the same darkness and together they bring out the wickedness in each-other. The sex is out of this world. I'm not kidding... It's hot as hell! But their connection goes way beyond the sex, which neither of them suspect. It's raw, dirty, and wild.

But they both carry secrets. One's that could destroy everything they built.
Can their relationship stay strong against the deception? Or will it crumble?

Prison Promise was a wild ride, one I will never forget.
If you are a dark erotic lover like myself, I recommend reading this one.

The only reason this book is getting 4 stars is because of the editing issues. But they didn't stop me from reading....

Jack.....hmmmm.....how can I explain him. He was cocky. He was confident. He was sarcastic. He was funny. He was badass. He was HOT!! Yeah, I totally fell for Jack.

Right after being released from jail, Jack makes due on his promise to his cellmate to deliver a letter to his sister, Ahri. But what Jack finds leaves him delaying that delivery.

Ahri was disciplined....working two jobs while going to school....her goals in sight. And then came Jack....ha! She didn't know what she was in for with him!

Jack had a f'd up childhood...foster care and then beginning life on his own as a teenager. But he came out on top and even though he spent some years in prison, there's a reason behind everything and his secrets will eventually shock Ahri.

I seriously, seriously loved the storyline! I suggest you read the book yourself and see what you think!

I loved this book. Jack was just what Ahri needed. Ahri was so down on her luck when Jack found her. They were HAWT together. Ahri, of course, didn't fall easily, but Jack sure did. Great story with lots of angst, drama, hot sex, and love. Beautiful epilogue.

Can't wait to see who gets the next book. Will it be Lev, Fidget, or the young Brazilian?

“You can be a champion and a loser. A victim and a criminal. A hero and a villain. It just makes you more realistic. More human.” I exhaled slowly. “Just because you’ve sinned does not make you a sinner. Some of us who’ve sinned still have the heart of a saint ... I know I do.”

4.5 filthy, wild and raw stars

Wow, what a read! Demi Vice has delivered a really impressive debut novel. Dark, gritty and kinda filthy, with mystery and intrigue, surprisingly laugh-out-loud moments and a gorgeously heartfelt romance, this book has fantastically unique characters, and is so damn addictive, I couldn’t put it down, and I loved the ride!

A warning about this book – if you’re looking for a story of redemption or a sweet, fluffy romance, this is not the book for you. If you’re offended by language, violence or graphic sex, this is not the book for you. However if you want raw, intense and downright dirty with an antihero that you cannot help but love, then dive on in!

Humans are the worst animals of them all. We’re selfish, greedy, and envious. We do what we can to survive, to have a better life, and sometimes we don’t always do what’s right, but that doesn’t make it wrong.

Jack Baron is being released from 7 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. He agreed to go down in the place of a wealthy benefactor in exchange for the life of his dreams upon his release. He is looking forward to wealth, privilege and an early retirement where he can do whatever he wants, but before he can go off and live his dream, his prison cellmate asks him to deliver a letter to his estranged sister.

Ahri is a strong, stubborn and determined girl who has been through hell and who is fighting hard to create a better life for herself. With her beloved brother in prison she is all alone, broke and exhausted working two jobs while studying, but she keeps pushing to make things right and find a way out of the darkness she is in.

And then along comes Jack. A true anti-hero he straddles the line of good and bad (though mainly bad), and balances it perfectly! In the book, he’s compared to Deadpool, and it’s so true! Wild, arrogant, irreverent, violent, unapologetic, highly sexual and slightly deviant, he’s a man who has survived the worst of circumstances and who takes what he wants. And he wants Ahri. From the first glance the sparks fly and there is no way Jack can stay away.

“You don’t strike me as a liar, baby girl…so if you call me a fucking ‘mistake’ again I’m going to tie you up and fuck you so hard until you realize that I am the best damn thing to ever happen to you … Because I am.”

Jack and Ahri together are absolutely sizzling! Their connection is immediate, they share similar kinks, and we get every moment of it in graphic, scorching detail. And holy hell, it’s intense!

I peeked over my shoulder, linking with Jack’s eyes like he wanted nothing more in this world than to just look at me.
I love that look.
I
really loved that look.

And so begins a steamy yet unconventional affair as the man who ties himself to nobody and the woman who is hiding secrets and in a world of trouble, find something way beyond sex, something that neither of them were expecting, but something that neither of them run from, and I loved watching it happen. Yeah, it’s quick, it’s dirty and it’s wild, but it feels so right for these two ruthlessly hard, yet broken-in-their-own-way characters, and the shift is fantastically written!

She was an obsession. A permanent obsession that should’ve faded by now, but instead got worse with each glance I stole, each breath I robbed, and each touched I seized. She was the only one for me. Because Ahrianna Lore was it for me.

And when secrets are revealed and they are put to the test, both Jack and Ahri will need to figure out what they are prepared to forgive, and what they are prepared to do in order to get the future they both so desperately want

“You’re inked in my soul, branded on my flesh, and carved in my bones. So trust me when I say. You’re worth it, Ahrianna.”

This book was a wild ride. I was expecting dark and dirty, and while that’s definitely there, I wasn’t expecting the humour, and I thought it was a fantastic touch. Jack’s arrogance and derisiveness is wildly entertaining and balances his violent side really well. He’s a horny bastard, and I actually found some of his actions and dialogue quite shocking, but it suits his character, and the way he’s written, it just works for him. And it makes it all the more amazing to watch the change in him when he falls so hard for his girl.

“Love doesn’t compare to what I feel for you. I am devoted, intoxicated and completely consumed by you.”

And Ahri is a wonderful match for him. She has her own uniqueness that makes her completely endearing, and she brings a heartwrenching emotion to the story as she finally begins to open up and her past is fully revealed (and again, nothing is held back in her harrowing story).

Sometimes it felt like I was put on this earth just for Jack. For his touch, his words, his soul. I was meant to find him. I was meant to feel whole even though a few pieces were missing.

It all builds to a wonderfully happy ending, though the ending of the book felt a bit more like an extended epilogue, and while I love to see a HEA, this one could have easily been shortened a bit. Especially because after all of that, there actually is an epilogue – which finishes everything off beautifully.

“Our story isn’t written in stone but carved into my heart, my bones, my soul. You’re my everything and anything. My perfect, broken half I can’t live without.”

I loved this book. It completely sucked me in, and though it won’t be one for all readers, my dark and deviant side (though occasionally mildly horrified) was thoroughly entertained and I really enjoyed this one. There are set ups there for the next two books of the series, and I can’t wait to get my hands on them!

A fantastic read – 4.5 stars.

An interesting twisty tales of events that read like Tarantino's movie. I especially liked the hero's POV. He was hilarious.

But 3Stars only because the last 10% was so schmaltzy. DV laid the HEA on a bit too thick where everyone was very happy and prosperous and beautiful and gets their own penthouses. Very mad about that.

DNF - just no! Could not stomach the heroine and while I like my dirty talking heroes, this just sounded ridiculous and at times did not feel like like a man during the inner dialogues. Which alpha dirty talking man ever says “Oh my God!”?

4.5 🌟 I stayed up into the early hours reading this because I couldn’t wait to find out more. I’ve been in a massive book slump for the best part of a year and this has pulled me from the abyss!
It’s rare that a book has the perfect balance of romance, sex and action but this has done it. So much love for the imperfect characters, and the author does a really good job of creating them. I loved jack. I like my fictional men arrogant and tattooed but it was also nice to see he’s much more than that and is deeply emotional. Jack paired with ahri was perfect and I had the biggest dirtiest grin on my face when I read their sex scenes. On.fire. The guy is crazy. I also liked that ahri was a little different, her bright uncoordinated fashion sense mixed with her scarred and tired appearance made a nice change from the usual sexy, barely clothed heroine.
Add in some crime and skeletons and you’ve got yourself a gripping read. I’m looking forward to seeing what the next book has for me.

Oh, hello Demi Vice and goodbye to any money in my bank account. I can already tell that any book that Demi Vice writes I will want to add to my collection of books. What a fabulous debut novel. I am in love with this book. It is hot and lusty and right up my alley. If you are looking for rainbows and sunshine, this is not the book for you.

“What did I tell you about hiding my marks, Ahrianna?” I spoke lowly. “I hate sharing just as much as you do.” Ahri stayed quiet. This time her wide eyes were full of lust. “You were a mistake, and we’re not going to fuck again.” She was full of lies. I licked her sweet neck; her skin prickling under my touch. “You don’t strike me as a liar, baby girl. So, if you call me a fucking ‘mistake’ again, I’m going to tie you up and fuck you so hard, you’ll realize that I’m the best damn thing to ever happen to you, Ahrianna. Because I am.” I turned into an animal, biting her neck as she held in her moans. “It’s going to happen again. We’re going to happen again,” I continued. “I’m a man with dire urges, and right now, you’re the only one that can fill them. Would you like me to prove that to you right here while Agata watches?”

I was sucked into this book from the first page and could not and did not wait to put this book down for a second. I tried my best to draw out my reading for this one because I knew I’d want to read more. Jack Baron is Daddy and I couldn't get enough of him. My god, is there a man that is as perfect as Jack? I don't think so. He is arrogant, cocky, hot, and loves to tell you what to do. I couldn't get enough of him. Ahrianna Lore (Ahri) presents herself as a bad girl/badass who takes no shit. Though truly on the inside, she is a good girl and wants nothing but the best for the ones she loves. She will defend and do anything to protect her family. These two are perfect for each other, though they have gone through different situations, they are so alike and broken. But together? They are perfect for each other. I loved the story, it had a great flow and the way it was written is great. This is a total ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read from me.

“Our story isn’t written in stone but carved into my heart, my bones, my soul. You’re my everything and anything. My perfect, broken half, Ahrianna Lore. You’re my goddess, and I’m merely a king with the right playing cards. And I promise I’ll never lie to you again. I swear on my grave, I’ll never lie to you again.”

I very much enjoyed Jack as the lead character in this story. He was portrayed very accurately as a man who came out of prison and had a certain flair about him. This was a good read with plenty of sarcasm.

What an amazing read, a read I loved and enjoyed so much I had to buy a copy even though I received an advanced copy, not only to show my support to this new author to me but because it was that AMAZING.
Jack and Ahri, what a couple, both flawed, both with pasts that made me cringe, one trying to survive and the other starting over, both who would do anything for family, both sinners with hearts of saints but also hearts of gold and when they fall for each other, there is nothing that would tear them apart or that they wouldn’t do for each other. The story flowed beautifully that I ate up every page, the attraction and sparks...WOW, the banter spot on, the emotions jumping off of the pages and throughout the book I felt as if I was right there looking down on them and was a part of their story.
A read with steamy steamy melt an iceberg scenes, a story that keeps you in suspense as their pasts are revealed little by little, a story with surprises that made me go WOW, and a story where I fell madly in love with Jack making him a book boyfriend for life. Not only was Jack amazing but Ahri, she stole my heart as well. A read not to be missed and one I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend....10 +++++

A delicious, tumultuous ride. ❤️❤️

This was my first time reading this author and I can't tell you how much it gladdens my heart when I get a new author to stalk coz I loved her book so much.

OMG.. Prison Promise was such a delicious, hot yet a little suspenseful and surely such an amazing joyride filled with questions and chaos and JACK AND AHRI❤️❤️....
I WANT A JACK BARON IN MY LIFE TOO.

He is such an amazing yet a bit complicated character. A person with such a dark past, having done not some bit a load of heinous crimes and yet is such a light hearted, loud mouthed sweetheart, it's just unbelievable. Then there's Ahri the exact opposite to what Jack represents.

Prison stories have always been one of my favorite genres to read where the hero has just come out from the prison. I thought this story was gonna be a lot dark. But it was such a delight. I was hooked and glued right when Jack is about to get out and his so called Prison Promise which starts it all.
This book has definitely earned Ms. Vice a new crazy fan and I can't wait to dive in the next Prison Saints book. Five plus stars😍❤️❤️

Prison Promise is book 1 in the Prison Saints series by Demi Vice.

Dark, gritty and a dirty mouth bad boy named Jack. What more could a girl ask for?
I'll admit it did take me a little bit to get totally invested in the story, but am so glad I stuck with it.

Jack does time for a crime he didn't commit, but did it knowing there was a big pay day at the end of it. When his cell mate asks him to deliver a letter to his sister, thinking he'd drop it off and go about his new found freedom. Only he wasn't expecting Ahri.

I honestly had a hard time connecting with Ahri at first, but as I read the more I liked her. Feisty, independent and took no BS from anyone. Ahri has her own secrets and not so great childhood, but has survived.
These two had a hot and instant connection and I loved Jack even more for not giving up on Ahri and loved her stubbornness and just being herself.

Prison Promise has everything a good story needs, suspense, drama, humor and lets not forget the sexual tension.

Definitely a good read and look forward to book 2

Another Netgalley read. Thank you BookBuzz.net.

So we meet Jack not long before he gets released from prison after doing a stint of seven years for a crime he didn't commit. He's asked by his cell-mate of the last three years to deliver a letter to his sister who it turns out lives near where he grew up as a kid. Upon sight, they have an instant attraction and things get very heated.

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure about Jack at the start. He seemed very cocky, almost intimidating in those first few chapters. But he did grow on me, quite a lot in fact. He had lines he wouldn't cross like having sex with Ahri while she was drunk. I liked that. I liked how protective he was of her. One quote summed him up pretty well:
Jack had the whole, "don't judge a book by its cover," down to an art form. There were layers to him no one ever expected, and they were addicting.

Ahrianna was a fighter. She'd had a tough childhood but was striving to do better, be better. She worked two jobs, barely getting any sleep, and was doing an online course so she could get her dream job in management--where the money was.

The sex scenes were a little too dirty for me. We had anal play and very filthy dirty talk (which I'm not the biggest fan of. I don't mind the odd bit but this was very in-your-face-description dirty talk) and I skipped a few paragraphs.

As for the romance in this, it was nice. Two really damaged people coming together and the attraction being so sudden that the romance just evolved naturally. They were...I don't know how to describe it. So alike in so many ways but complimented each other in others. They were a really great couple.

With those first few scenes and the hot sex I expected this to be more erotica than romance but it wasn't like that at all. Definitely more of a romance.

I've just finished it and seen that Ceifador, a character from Jack's past is the next book and with that last scene in the prison I'm wondering if that guy might be him? I may have to read it and find out.

If you like steamy contemporary romances with good-hearted bad boys and feisty female characters then you should give this a try.

I absolutely floved Jack and Ahri! The blurb doesn't do this book justice. It was about so much more. Both characters come with baggage and are flawed but their crazy compliments each other. Jack is an ex felon, ex hitman, Jack of all trades as he says. But his stand out characteristic to me is his love for Ahri and complete devotion to her, insert swoon here. Ahri is a keeper of secrets, a hard worker, and in need of someone to love her and slay her demons. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I'm excited to see what else this new author has in store. I recommend this book to anyone who doesn't bat their eye to a little filthy sex and a great love story.

Wow! That was an awesome story!

Prison Promise is a thrilling dark romance full of suspense, grit, and so many twists. This is Demi Vice’s debut novel and the first book in the Prison Saints series. I was completely blown away reading this story, and I read it in one sitting! The storyline is unique, and the characters are complex and well developed.

In this story, Jack Baron is a bad boy who just finishing his 7-year sentence in jail. Before he got out, Luke, his cellmate, asked him to give his sister, Ahri, a letter. The story snowballs into a thrilling, dark and steamy story, which I absolutely love!

Fabulous and a definite add to your TBR list!

I decided to up my rating because I find myself thinking about this story which tells me it was a winner.

Jack, Jack, Jack. I had to sleep on it before writing my review. And I’m still smiling!

A few important things to note:

1) There were WAY TOO MANY grammatical errors. I volunteer to prof the next if Demi can’t find someone better.

2) I really didn’t like Ahri. Not sure why, I just didn’t. She was bad ass and I felt sad for her history but I didn’t like her.

3) If you’re looking for some kink, look no further. 😳 Laundromat scene...

Final note...Who is Antonio???? I’m guessing the new inmate we meet at the end of the book? I was hoping for Fidget’s story next but I can wait for book 3. Even with so many errors, I’m still going to read the next.

This is a new to me author but I liked the synopsis. Honestly, the disclaimer sums the book of pretty good: The Jack’s Heart is a dark romance with no cliff-hanger and a guaranteed HEA. This book contains steamy and graphic material that might be offensive for some.

Jack is getting out of prison and promises his cell mate to do one task. That meeting of Ahri send them both down a path of secrets and broken promises. There isn't much more to say without giving everything away. Their romance is quick and dirty and lived right on the edge.

The epilogue was the best! Love to see how things play out down the road. Can't wait to see who we get next int he series. Maybe someone entirely new??

What an amazing book! This author’s debut novel is actually pretty good!!!
To be honest at first I didn’t really like Jack, but moving forward to the book he kind of grown on me! Ahri is so perfectly imperfect and a total match for Jack. They both have dark pasts and terrible childhoods but they find each other and that’s just what they need!!
I really loved the book and I’m going to look out for the author’s next books!!

Jack went to prison for a crime he didn't commit but by doing so he was paid well and came out a wealthy man. Jack's cell mate Fidget wants to get a letter to his sister so his asks Jack to do him a favor and take it to her. It didn't take long to find her but once he saw her Jack forgot his reason for being there. Ahrianna has had a hard life but she doesn't mind the hard work. She wasn't looking for anything other than getting by with her life that is until Jack came into her life. Sparks fly between them and its not long before Jack has claimed his woman. Jack is curious about Ahrianna and her past especially after seeing her scars but he knows to take his time and she'll let him in eventually. Ahrianna doesn't understand why Jack keeps coming back but when he is gone she misses him. Jack and Ahrianna connect because they were both wounded by their pasts and start to heal each other the more they are together. However what will happen once Jack tells Ahrianna how he came to find her? Can she move pass his secret to stay with him?

This was an amazing story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Jack and Ahrianna is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I will definitely watch for more from this author in the future.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. I enjoyed it so much I bought my own copy.

Wow. I wasn't sure what to expect from this author since I never read anything from her but I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed. Jack went to jail for a crime he didn't commit so when it's time for him to be released, he is going to be set up for life. He'll have the penthouse, money, car etc. What more could he want. Before he's released, his cell-mate asks him to deliver a letter to his sister. Ahri is a hard working woman who fights for everything she has. Her brother Luke is in jail, her sister Aurora is dead and she is doing everything she can to provide for not only herself but for her brother as well. She has a lot of things going on that you will have to read the book to find out but when she meets Jack, there is an instant connection. This is book 1 in the series and there is so much that goes on you will have a hard time putting the book down. You will see where these two start out and why, where they may go from there and where their futures may end up. It's a well written story that kept my attention throughout the whole book and I really enjoyed all of the characters. Enjoy.

This book was so good, why did I wait so long to read it?! Without question it's one of the best dark romances I've read and made me immediately want to go and read everything Demi Vice has written. I was so upset to only find one other book, but you can absolutely bet I'm going to read Ceifador X and whatever else comes next in this series! I couldn't put it down and finished it in one sitting. I absolutely recommend it to any dark romance readers! And now I'm going to make a grilled cheese, because how can I not after reading this book? 😂

Was this a full bushel of bananas? Yes. Did I enjoy every single delicious banana? Absolutely.

I was expecting a totally different type of story, full of clichés and the typical bad boy/good girl tale... but it proved me wrong and I really liked it.
In a few words, I might describe it as a wicked and dark fairy tale story. From Gory Jack and his Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality or better said his Romeo Claudius personality, who showed that apart from his clothes, the world is not just black and white. Then Ahri, no damsel in distress, the one day at a time type girl, a devil in disguise.
It all started with a favor, a letter... but it changed so many lives as more secondary characters are included to build up a great story.
As the book developed, I felt like I was unwrapping a gift, revealing layers and layers from the characters, their pasts, and shitty lives... spiced up with all the steamy scenes between Jack and Ahri.
I can't wait for the next book from the series... Will it be Fidget's Story? Or someone new and unrelated? We'll see ;)

OH MY ROCKY ROAD ICE CREAM!!!
Wow! What a sizzling, nailbiting, nerve racking, gut wretching, rollercoaster ride of emotions and unexpected danger that keeps you captivated from the start. This page turning bombshell will definitely rock your world to its core. Man, the characters and scenes were realistic, intriguing and complex with a undeniable connection between the two main characters. Their bond is white hot, off the charts, explosive. So much fire you feel the burn. Following the characters along mesmerized as their personalities blossomed and grew to new heights. Danger and suspense keeps you so deeply immersed that the rest of the world ceases to exist except for whats right in front of your eyes. You are so frozen to your seat afraid to move, that you might miss something. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive that it gives the illusion you were right there in ground zero with them. Demi did a phenomenal job bringing this read together beautifully. Remarkable job Demi and thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

“You’re not only inked into my soul but branded in my flesh and carved in my bones.”

Raw, gritty, intense. I don't know where to start with this book. Demi Vice is a new author to me and this book is so, so good. At first, the storyline moves slowly so you can get to know the amazing characters. Then it picks up and unravels bit by bit, fleshing out the pieces that were only hinted at. Beautifully written. This is a long story, and so worth the read. The characters have sad pasts which they have overcome by going into survival mode and doing terrible things.
“Just because you’ve sinned does not make you a sinner. Some of us who’ve sinned still have the heart of a saint.” And that sums up Jack and Ahri, and Luke. There is so much going on, story wise & with the characters, that all I can say is that I was provided with an ARC, and have purchased my own copy because it's that good.

This is Book 1 of the Prison Saints Series and my first book by this author, and let me just say that I am pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the storyline, the characters and the author's writing style. It is a steamy romance between ex-con Jack and his cellmate's sister, Ahrianna. From their first meeting, there is no mistaking the instant connection between them. Though flawed, Jack and Ahri are likable characters and the unconventional plot makes for an intriguing read. There are some twists and challenges that test and strengthen the couple's feelings for each other and their future. It is a well written story with sexual tension and chemistry, suspense and drama, and engaging secondary characters. And don't forget the sexy but sweet love scenes thrown in to complete the reader's experience. Overall, it has the perfect amount of everything - sex, humor, drama, and happy
ending.

mixed feelings.

things i liked:

the actual romantic development??? pretty good. the characters r unique and well fleshed out.

ahri and jack r both a little morally gray. (jack not even little, more like very), but their characters have so much depth. jack the hitman and murderer but also chef and babysitter. ahri the down on her luck workaholic and colorful clothes thrifter and music blaster. they fit together.

by vibes:
jack - 😎🤪🙂‍↔️🕺🎩
ahri - 😐🙄🥹🦔🦦

even after finding out abt jacks lies i like that she gave him a chance to explain after a much deserved meltdown. so thankful for no miscommunication/third act breakup 🤓🙏. i liked that their relationship went beyond sex even tho that's how it started...

i also like the way the side characters were brought to life. gomez and link and luke. i want a book on luke and see how he does as a chef.

things i didn't like:

i understand that jack is the way he is becuz of his childhood and he's unapologetic for who he is...but that doesn't stop me from secondhand embarrassment i feel sometimes. like when he's saying smth and the author has him moaning in public? 🤨🤨🤨. on multiple occasions. ig the author is trying to convey he doesn't gaf abt what ppl think but 😭

and also...this book has some good smut but some of it is....embarrassing to read almost? like the dialogue just is so odd sometimes. like why would u write it like that????? 😭 i cringed during a lot of the smut.

the beginning was very quick. very insta lust. and as mentioned above, the smut that went with it was a little awkward to read. but if u can move past that, and u get to see more of the romantic development it gets better. but the beginning...it's a little rough.

overall the book has a strong plot line, characters and romance

bonus points for cute nicknames: BANANA SPLIT and tinks, point deduction for daddy 💀

Just wow! Great debut from Demi Vice. This story sucked me right in with Jack’s cocky personality. He’s definitely at the top of my book boyfriends list! The chemistry between him and Ahri was raw and instant, and although both flawed, they make a great couple. Both of them were real and well developed and the storyline was captivating and amazingly written. Filled with darkness, but also funny moments, Jack and Ahri’s story was full of emotion and spiced with some seriously steamy scenes. This book quickly became one of the best ones I’ve read this year and I can’t give it enough praise. I will definitely be on lookout for more from this author.
