Being a tomboyish seventeen-year-old girl isn't always easy. It's even more difficult when you're a tomboyish seventeen-year-old girl who loves horses, but whose friends have gone on to other interests. When she becomes the target of bullies and it's obvious her once-friends not only won't help but are part of the problem, it seems she will have to change to fit in. Even if it means becoming someone she isn't. Can she do that and remain true to herself?
With a quirky sense of humour, Lisa finds her way through trials and tribulations to wind up in a "happy place" she couldn't have foreseen.
This was an excellent book! Teenagers dealing with cliques, bullies and drugs with varying results. Very true to life. Other topics covered in this book included animal abuse, child endangerment and abuse, as well as sexual harassment without being preachy. I recommend this book!
Gayle Siebert is a relatively new author that I will be following for some time to come. I have read her other book, The Pillarton Secret, which I found to be a great read and was pleased to find another offering from her. This latest book, even though targeted for young adults, is still a very entertaining book for an adult. It is funny, engaging and very touching. Ms Siebert does not fail to impress yet again. I do hope that she has a long and prolific writing career as books that are this well written and flow this well while engaging your inner "movie screen" are always a treasured find. She has absolutely joined the ranks of my all time favorite authors
