Suzie and Mary become suspicious that something sinister is going on when a young couple, Antony and Daria, who are spending a relaxing weekend at Dune House leave unexpectedly and then have an accident.
With Daria missing and Antony dead, Suzie and Mary do everything they can to find out the truth in the hope it will lead them to Daria. Their investigations lead them straight towards some serious criminals.
Will Suzie and Mary be able to find Daria and uncover the truth? Does Mary have a new love interest or is he just using her to get information? Will Suzie’s meddling ruin her relationship with her cousin, Jason?
I really try to give books the credit of the author's time, but thus series is so ridiculous and over the top. Two middle aged women consistently insinuate themselves into situations that the authorities are more than capable of dealing with, then allow themselves to become involved in dangerous events that aren't even interesting. They are annoying busybodies who just need to butt out of things that are not their business.
Antony and Daria Gable, locals from the nearby town of Parish have booked a room at Dune House for a weekend getaway
When Suzie goes to clean her guests’ room she finds their room in a state. A tipped-over wine bottle had left a puddle on the floor. She investigates the closet to see if anyone was hiding inside. Nothing seems out of place beside the spilled wine.
After overhearing an argument between their guests a night before Suzie wakes up the following day to find them gone. They left a note saying they’d left for Paris along with their key and their payment.
But when Suzie goes to clean their room, she finds a passport with Antony's photo. How would he get on the plane to France without his passport?
While out for a walk Suzie and Mary Antony’s body was later discovered in the car he and his wife were both driving. Where is Daria and why did they leave early?
I really love this series. I recently read a boxset of book 1-4. Now I just finished book 5.
Suzie and Mary took on the task to bring life back to Dune House and to make it a cozy bed and breakfast. It's on a cliff overlooking the beautiful white sand beach and the ocean.
But when someone is murdered they both get involved to investigate to see the person(s) is found and brought to justice.
This time it involved criminal characters. And Suzie and Mary are involved more they should be.
There's so much to this story you need read Book! There's danger and love also.
As with the previous 4 Dune House books, the residents of Garber don't disappoint. Well written with well developed characters. As important all Cindy Bell's books are well edited. The book moves along quite nicely and can be a stand alone book but is more enjoyable if the series is read in order. Sometimes there are leaps and gaps in the storyline but they don't hurt the tale, they just help keep it moving I already have book #6 and can't wait to start it.
More suspicious goings on at the B&B, intriguing conversations, a couple leaving a lot earlier than expected just have the two sleuths confused. What follows is a twisted path to a lot more than they bargained for. I love these two, I guess many would call them interfering busy bodies but their hearts are in the right place. We also have the spark of a second romance, we will see on that one. Suspenseful and exciting plot, I really enjoyed the cupboard scene, that was fun.
A married couple checked into the B&B, but they don’t check out. Instead, the ladies find the husband dead on the road with the wife missing. What happened? Turns out the husband was actually murdered. Was the wife another victim or the murderer? An interesting case, for sure! Perhaps this had to do with the dodgy dealings in the husband’s business?
Sometimes I wonder about Suzie and Mary. lol They sure do like to get involved in things where they shouldn't. But with Suzie's background in investigative reporting, it does make for an entertaining read. She's able to place pieces together quicker than the police do.
Ii really don't like stories where the main character makes such stupid decisions. Suzie really irritated me. I pretty much stopped reading and skimmed to the end.
Totally enjoyed it! This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
Quick reading. The plot isn't complex as I figured out who the murder was from the beginning. However, I love the characters of Suzie and Mary and their adventures together. It's refreshing to see the fifty something women still getting themselves into trouble.
Another 5 star read, just the suspense as a whole is what helped persuade me to give another 5 stars to Bell. As stated before, these books do not need to be read back-to-back as they are not continuations of the previous. In this book, we deal with a young couple where one is dead but the other is missing. Daria being the one to go missing, while her partner Antony is the one to be found dead... in their car after they unexpectedly left through the night leaving Suzie and Mary suspicious about what is actually going on. Again, Suzie and Mary begin to investigate and try to uncover the truth while also finding Daria but as we know Suzie's cousin Jason works for Garber police so is this going to ruin his and Suzie's relationship because she is interfering, again?
I selected this rating because it's one of the best books in the series. I liked the characters and the plot was interesting. Having read all the books I feel it's more a mix of romance and mystery. I always know who the villaIn is early in the story. The rest of the story is about catching or finding the killer & the story line is interesting. There's no extreme violence. It's more about friendships and romance with a bit of mystery thrown in. The author's words just lean more toward romance and the mystery is secondary. That's not a negative remark, It's that the author is at ease and paints a better visual picture of romance as a cozy story.
I chose this rating because I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The characters are always fun and interesting to read about. I would recommend this author to anyone who likes a easy and fun read.
