I love Debbie Macomber’s books, and I usually give them 5 stars, but there was one thing that prevented me doing that for MONTANA, and it was probably the work of a misguided editor. It had an excellent plot, well-developed characters, and intriguing mystery and engaging romance, but a little too much sexual descriptions. There was a funny shower scene that was great overall, but a bit too descriptive. Even though I purchased this paperback new, it was written in 1998, when the editors hadn’t realized that suggestion is better than description, and DM’s modern books prove that.

This book is actually two stories. The first is by Debbie Macomber called "Montana" which I
had read some time ago.

The second story is called "Ramson Canyon" This too is an excellent story. Loved the
characters and the story line. It is a mystery, a love story, and just a good feeling story.

Main characters are Staten and Quinn, but there are also other characters that have their
own plots in the story.

Montana by Debbie Macomber
This book leaves you feeling pretty good. The couple have to overcome quite a few obstacles, but it is handled in a pretty realistic manner. The pacing of the story is generally pretty good, but there were a few spots where it drags a bit.

Ransom Canyon by Jodi Thomas
I had a very hard time with this book. The style in which the story is told didn't agree with me very much. It was too disjointed for my taste.

I really liked this book with 2 stories in one. I love Debbie MacComber but really liked Jodi Thomas's book better. For a light read with good character depth, this isa great book.

Both of these books were great love stories. I did like Ransom Canyon better. The author had several stories that tied together at the end!

I only gave this a 3 because I didn’t get into the first story by Debbie. Jodi however was just what I needed. Real men and women. Love ❤️ it! Now I’m going to look 👀 🆙 more Jodi Thomas novels;)
