Save the yellow popinjay!

That's what all the cubs are saying about Bear Country's endangered bird. If Squire Grizzly gets his way and cuts down the trees in Birder's Woods, the popinjay will have nowhere to nest. Then it would disappear forever. It's up to the cubs to save it--before it's too late!

A couple of months ago my book group read The Berenstain Bears Nature Detectives. After the fact I found out it was a rewrite of this book. So I decided to read it too and compare. The basic premise is the same but I do like the tone in the newer version.

Why didn’t Papa and wood bears turn all those trees in Birders woods into treehouses like their home? It wasn’t what Greedy Squire Grizzly wanted . Poor Birds going extinct by bears who think like evil humans.

Kids always like Berenstain Bear books. The pictures are fun, the bear names are great. Fun to read.
