These books are really good, and I have enjoyed all in the series so far. There are a couple things that I have a bit of trouble with. One is the use of unfamiliar phraseology such as "... he attacked Dan with an oath." What is that (an oath)? I am not familiar with that terminology. Second, there are occasional firearms operations references that are not quite accurate. An example: "... she racked the safety." No, she may have racked the slide, or flipped the safety off. There are many other similar examples of both of these things. Tells me that perhaps the people providing proofreading services aren't 100% familiar with the subject matter. Are these things a big deal? No way! They do not substantially detract from the overall story or its impact. But only by bringing these nits to light, will the author know that there are details that could use a bit more polish. (And, for the record, these are not the books that have this sort of issue.) Don't let my nit-picking on minor details deter you from picking any one of these books. I do think you will enjoy them.
Books 4 - 6 in the “Dan Roy Series” were even better than Books 1 - 3, and I thoroughly enjoyed those books.
Mick Bose has created the perfect assassin... flaws and all. His Protagonist is the consummate killing machine’ but with a conscience. The books in both of the three-book boxed sets are fast-paced and real page turners.
However, I must mention a major issue I had reading all the Dan Roy books. All of the books need a much better editor since they all have far too many spelling, grammatical, syntax and punctuation errors that became problematical for me as I read them all. But don’t let that stop you from reading “The Dan Roy Series”.
Dan Roy is an ex-special forces operative but for one reason or another he can't escape his past. Mick Bose writes fast paced, action packed suspense novels that can be graphically violent at times but no more so than most films of this genre. Dan Roy is an interesting character with flaws and a past that is more complex than it first seems. It is great to have books 4-6 together in this collection as although each story is individual there are some aspects of these books that carry on throughout the series. This adds depth, interest and background to an already complex man. I definitely recommend this collection.
At best this collection is3.5 stars. I thought one book was the best “Scorpion Rising”. Then came Shanghai Tang and then Deep Deception. Some of his readers really loved the last book, but I almost tossed it, not what I call a thriller.
I love the stories and characters. They are all fast paced and plenty of twists. I just wish someone would spell check. Wrong words, wrong tenses and so many spelling errors. Somehow shoe always becomes show. Get it together please
An amazing set of books. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about Dan Roy. He's a war-ravaged hero, who has lost his entire family, although he still has a living brother. I'm looking forward to the next book already.
There were numerous errors in these books. I feel a lack of research detracted from the story. There was plenty of action, but totally unbelievable events throughout.
