Payback’s a bitch. Jette Driftwood is a witch with a plan for revenge. Seven years ago the Bleak imprisoned her father for a crime he didn’t commit. Four years later she topped their list as the most talented magic breaker they’d ever employed. Until she stole an ancient power right out from under their nose. Now the only list Jette tops is the Bleak’s most wanted. No worries. It’s all part of the plan to free her father from their clutches. But after years on the run, hiding among humans is the least of the fugitive witch’s concerns. Because the stolen power is killing her—and a magic-wielding murderer has come to town. Jette is the prime suspect in the supernatural murder mystery when a handsome vampire for hire shows up to collect the bounty on her head. Time to make a deal. If she can use her unique talents to help bring down the murderer, it will clear her of the slaying and buy time to formulate an escape. But as the body count rises and her stolen magic flares uncontrollably, Jette realizes sometimes even the best laid plans go awry. And time runs out... “I had to stay up all night just to finish this book!” ★★★★★ “If you like mystery with an edge and great writing, this book is for you.” ★★★★★ “This series is my new favorite! Addisyn Tyler does a great job with her characters and their stories.” ★★★★★ The Driftwood Mysteries showcase what Addisyn L. Tyler does a kick-ass female lead, epic plot twists, and a world-building complement of snarky characters that keep the action and adventure rolling! These books are your new reason to stay up too late!
Oof. I really didn’t like this one. But I did finish it, so that’s a win. There were some good parts, and I felt like it had potential at the beginning. But everything just seemed off, the characters, the plot, people’s reactions, everything. Maybe if I hadn’t read some really good books lately I would have given this book 2 stars, but honestly, when a book leaves me in a bad mood afterwards, I can’t really justify more stars. I suppose that makes this a personal rating instead of something being drastically wrong with the book. But I really didn’t like it.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was suspenseful and the end was a surprise. The characters were well developed and interesting. I will definitely read the next book in this series.
Easy read...keeps the readers attention...supenseful...keeps the reader guessing until the final page...ready to read the second book in the series....hope there is a second book
I had to stay up all night just to finish this book and didn't even realize the time passed as I was totally in the book lol. If thou like mystery with an edge, great writing this is the book for you
I did not find a single typo, malaprop, misspelling, or dysfunctional line in this story. It was great, very unusual. I am not lying, you will enjoy this one!
This series is quickly becoming my new favorite. Give it a try I think you will be pleasantly surprised. This author takes her time with the characters and their stories. I loved it.
I enjoyed Bait & Switch. A fantasy murder mystery without gratuitous sex, in your face love interest, but with some sexual tension, humor and plot twists.
Quirky mystery, good action, surprises- the whiny past thing is irritating a bit, the physical mismatch is klutzy, but the characters are fun and the world building intriguing
Starts out a bit slow so as to set the scene, but quickly ramps up with mystery, romance?,snarkiness, vampires, witches, supernaturals, and fun! Recommended
Was pretty good but ended on an excessively blatant hook. Blah. That undermined everything! If you build a good world and characters, readers come back. Hook endings are just cheap fireworks that often go boom in your face.
