Touching and emotive, this is a heart-melting tale of reflection, introspection and moving on. Sumptuously illustrated by Suwannakit, this story embraces family relationships, most notably those between a young girl and her grandparents. In a slowly changing climate of strangled mindsets it is warming to see more and more picture books addressing the every day issues of loss and grief like this.
This is a lovely book and beautifully illustrated. I didn't realise that it was about grief and the death of a loved one. So I did skip over a couple of pages with Mr 3 as we had not talked about death with him yet. If a death of a loved one had occurred, this would be a good book to read with a child.
A treasure of a book. A story of lessons learned, taught with love. Mabel's Grandma has just died, and her Mum is helping Grandad to cook. Meanwhile, Mabel explores Grandma's garden, with Grandma's thimble connecting her to Grandma's teaching.
