All troughs of blood run downhill to this place and moment. Reno confronts her tormentors, but finds there's more than one lion's den to stumble into. All her problems and all her friends are in the same cage now. It's up to her to pry the door open. This is the conclusion!
Incredible series. Kindlon is a keen narrator with an excellent sense of character. Llovet has a w0nderfully loose style that is perfect for a ghost story that, at the same time, skewers celebrity and high fashion.
In the backmatter, there is reference to naysayers due to the aesthetic. Nevermind them. Let them devour their ultrarealism that satisfies all the imagination they lack. Kindlon has written one of my new favourite quotes:
"If someone hands you a sentiment you agree with and calls it art, you should ask for your money back. ... Challenge yourself. If your ideas are so f-cking right, they can withstand your brain being exposed to other ideas."
That the climax goes by so quickly is somewhat of a letdown. I'm left to wonder what amazing use Kindlon and Llovet could have put another 8 pages.
Still, if *they* are right and the journey is more important than the destination? Then this is aces.
