"Chapter 24: Her Heart" is about the author's epiphany and acceptance of the strength in vulnerability and increase in knowledge of self. Written by Kelsie Coleman, the book is a commitment made to be honest with herself and to work on her heart. Her poems express a journey to display wholeness, and a deeper self-love. The book is made up of different poems which exert her thoughts and feelings that occurred while getting herself together.
I have all three of Kelsie's books, and this is the first I'm starting with. This compilation of poems are based on the author's journey to answering God's call to not only have her heart, but to open up the gates that allow her to share her heart with others through the gift of words and storytelling.
Each of these poems are inspiring, having a distinct focus on the essence of love, womanism and queendom, the essence of being a believer, and reaching the potential of what God is calling her (and all of us) to be within our purpose. This book is truly about the cleansing of one's heart and the journey of sharing the results with others.
Taking the journey with Kelsie through doubt, and fear (and also confidence and strength!) while remaining steadfast in God's guidance and leadership, this set of poems ignites and encourages readers to trust in prayer and God. In the subtext, she also shares that it is okay to have doubts, but not to live/dwell there. There is power in self-discovery and knowing who you are in context of what God created us to be. Thanks Kelsie for your vulnerability! Your words and journey will be a blessing to many!
