*Originally published under pen name Amabel Daniels*

On the heels of a nasty divorce, celebrity dancer Amy Perry expects a mess when she returns to the summerhouse her Uncle Henri willed her. But she didn’t count on the headache of one too-hot-to-handle contractor—who also happens to be her childhood nemesis.

Despite the shock of learning who his new employer is, Sean Newland wants to treat this renovation like all his other projects: with professionalism and ease. In Amy’s presence, it’s not so simple.

Because on the first day, they find a dead body. Later, they stumble upon a journal packed with unusual hints of past sins.

Working together, both on the house and unraveling the book’s riddles, they discover new truths about one another. In the game of love, loyalty, and trust, it appears that many around them aren’t who they seem to be—and uncovering true identities can come at a very high price.

Amy is finally back home. In her favorite childhood place. Her aunt's & uncle's mansion outside of Atlanta.

She's been around the world as a famous dancer and then her marriage ended 'unnicely' and she had to heal both physically and mentally. But now she's home and ready to breathe new life into the old and vandalized house. She's planning on opening a dance school with her bestie Grace.

Enter Sean. Her childhood nemesis. The boy next door. They hated each other growing up. But of course they didn't - the mega sparkage has always been there between them - even as kids.

And now he's here - working on her house. And it's a huge project.

And then they kinda find a dead body and her uncle's mysterious secret diary ....

Let the fun times begin! ☺

Well, that was adorable. And exciting. Sparky. Funny. Very Mysterious.

I really enjoyed reading it.

I loved Sean and Amy and the others and the dog and the house and the story!

I couldn't stop reading - I just had to know what kind of secrets and mysteries the diary would reveal! Mega exciting!

Great romance with great people and interesting revelations!

It was mayyybe a tiny little bit too long and slowish in the romance department. Well, the romance part was understandable, but I missed the sexiness a bit. The writing was a bit too 'unflowing' for my tastes. Weird words or expressions or left-out words in the beginning of a sentence. It should've been a bit easier to read. I sometimes had to read paragraphs multiple times because I didn't understand what Amabel wanted to say. And the cover ... it's not really Sean's story - so I would've preferred something different. A beautiful old house and a diary ... or.. something more connected to the story.
BUT - I really enjoyed the story!
Very exciting and sweet and definitely not a waste of my precious reading hours!☺

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It pulled me in right from the beginning. This author did a great job of making me feel as if I was right there with the characters with her attention to details. There is something for everyone in this book including mystery and suspense. It took me on a journey that left me sitting on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed how Amy and Sean would banter back and forth like they were trying to hide true feelings. I highly recommend this book.

Covert Identities is a novel from author Amabel Daniels. This is my first read from this author and I can’t wait to explore more of her work. She has brought a captivating and compelling story line and some brilliant characters.

This read was mysterious, suspenseful, that left you on the edge of seat wondering what could happen next, but also revealing lots of things that leave you questioning everything and trying to work out the secrets that get revealed and the mystery behind it all!

This author did a brilliant job of giving details and descriptions of this story which makes you feel as though you are there along side the characters Sean & Amy going along on the journey with them.

Sean & Amy have a history, a history in which causes them to become arch enemies. But what she never expected was for Sean to be the main contractor on her house renovation, and for their history to come back full force. But with that also an undeniable connection with chemistry and attraction that they both continually deny and not face by covering it up with their bickering and bantering. But can they finally put their history aside and find their HEA?

This is a book for all to read and enjoy and become captivated with the storyline and even better characters.

Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels
4 out of 5 stars
I love the previous books by this author and this book did not disappoint. Covert Identities is a mystery/romance novel and it does have a slow burning start, but there is a purpose behind that. There is so much movement with the background and history of the two main characters, Amy and Sean, that the information provided adds to the development, not only of each character but to the overall storyline as well. Amy is retiring from the world of dance, and upon returning home, renovating a house left to her, she is thrust into the world of mystery where she is determined to come out the victor. Sean, the contractor for her house, is inadvertently thrown in with her. Amy and Sean have history. Having grown up as neighbors, and arch enemies, well as much as two people who are in different business could possibly be, they are now working together to restore the house. There are sparks, do not let them fool you. They will try to deny it. But they are most certainly there, and when they catch fire...they will burn. High recommended for both romance lovers and mystery lovers.

Wow did Amabel Daniels hit this out of the park or what?!? I was blown away with how much this book captured all of my feels, and all of my attention. This is one where I needed the ‘do not disturb the reading mommy’ sign on the door. I was so intent on finishing this book. I had to know how this would culminate pretty much after I finished the first few chapters. There is so much going on in this novel, but not for one moment is it too much for the reader. Daniels has managed to weave the perfect balance of mystery, slow-burn romance, suspense, and more to make sure that everything works out in the end. I love that this was a deep story but read with ease, these are the novels that grip me long after I have finished the last page.
Amy Perry, what a character she was to read. I really loved her and I connected with her on several levels. She has been through the wringer when it comes to her nasty divorce. She has seen it all and traveled the world as a ballerina. After these momentous occasions in her life come to a close she is ready to begin a new life at home. Her favorite place ever in the world was always her aunt and uncles mansion located just outside of Atlanta. Unfortunately, the home is not what it used to be and is rather run down now. She is determined to restore it to its once glorious condition and make it her home. She also wants to create a dance studio there. This is where she seeks some help.

Amy’s father hires Sean Newland. He is the smexy building contractor that will be overseeing the renovations. A slight problem arises when Amy and Sean are reunited, yep reunited. They were childhood enemies that grew up together as neighbors. But Sean is so handsome and all grown up. There is a chemistry between the two that both spend a long time denying. This is just one aspect of the storyline. Will they end up giving into their desires and seeing if they can become more than just the enemies they once were?

There is an added mystery in this story. During renovations the two stumble upon a journal in the house. This journal is written in French and very mysterious. The two begin to work together to translate said journal. Finding out that it belongs to a man name Henry is just the beginning of the mystery. Will trying to solve the mysteries of the journal and happenings surrounding Henry’s life put Amy and Sean in harms way?

I can’t bring myself to tell much more than this about this fantastic read. I will say that it is completely unpredictable. Just when you think you have this story figured out and are sure you have cracked the mystery, something new happens that will make you question everything you had thought. I can’t wait to devour another Amabel Daniels novel soon. I had to go one-click all the others that I had not read yet by her to help me with the book hangover this one left me in! Happy reading and thanks so much for the incredible novel Amabel Daniels!

Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels was a cute, sweet, mystery with that low burn romance I love.

My first read by this author and first in this collection of the Newland siblings. There are three other books, each featuring one of the siblings, though they are not marketed as a series, they talk place in the same town, but are written all in a way where you don't need back info on the siblings because they are not major characters. Just just get enough, and frankly that's all you need.

This book follows Sean, the middle sibling of five, and how he is reconnected for his childhood crush/nemesis. I liked Sean, sure at first he seemed like your typical alpha male, but hot damn, as the story went on he turned out be to damn near perfection. Why are you fiction? Outside of his hotness, Sean did everything right with Amy, now get this, they had a healthy connection from the start, and there so no misunderstanding bull that made them split before finding out it was love all along. There was non of that stupid clichéness, this was a slow hot burn that built you up, just as much as it built Sean and Amy crazy connection and spark.

I loved the mystery and how it became a major plot point. It was a pushing point, and moved the story in the right direction. Sean and Amy's romance was tied in nicely and felt like a side by side to a deeper love story, one that was lost in time and forbidden in a time when war was destroying lives, and when things weren't accepted are they are now. That unfolding story was the true highlight. As much as I loved Sean and Amy, that sub plot in the mystery was, for me, the star of this epic tale.

This book is a super high recommendation from me, I had it read in one sitting, and believe me you will to. The unfolding history of Amy, for story, her strength, Sean with his smug hotness but heart of gold, and a mystery so deep and compelling that it takes a serious dark dangerous turn; because greed is sometimes stronger then common sense.

Happy Reading

Frenemies, mystery and suspense - brilliant

WOW!!!!! Where do I begin? This is a new author for me, but no longer!! As soon as I finished reading Covert Identities I went and one-clicked Amabel's other three books involving the Newland family. That's how much I loved this book. It had so much packed into it - frenemies, mystery, suspense, so many twists, wonderful characters and brilliant writing. This was a book I did not want to put down.

Amy Perry, retired ballerina, has returned to the house that is full of so many happy childhood memories, left to her after the death of her mentor Henri. Finding the house in complete disrepair, she decides to have it renovated so it can become her new dance studio and home. Not only is she renovating her home, she is also rebuilding her life after a broken marriage and a very nasty divorce.

Sean Newland, building contractor, is hired by Amy's father to oversee the renovations. He and Amy have a history - they grew up as neighbours and also as arch enemies. From the moment these to remeet the attraction and chemistry is instantaneous - no matter how much they both want to deny it. Can these two finally set aside their differences and become friends?

As the renovations are being carried out, Amy and Sean discover an old journal of Henri's - unfortunately it is written in French. Together they begin to translate the journal, this leads to many unanswered questions regarding Henri's life. Amy is determined to find all the answers that were buried with Henri. Will her investigation put her life at risk?

Absolutely a superb read. Nothing and no one is as they appear to be. This story had me sitting on the edge of my seat for 90% of the time The outcome was totally unpredictable. Bravo Ms Daniels.

Definitely a book I would highly recommend.

Covert Identities
By: Amabel Daniels
5 out of 5 stars

The story Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels is a romantic suspense book. It is a story that hooked me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put down until the final page. Reading this story is like putting together a puzzle. When reading I was wondering what was truly going on and what was going to happen next. It is also a story with two amazing main characters, Amy Perry and Sean Newland. These two have a history which had Sean portrayed as Amy’s nemesis. The bickering between them starts up and the conflict/tension can be felt. Amy is a woman who is looking for a fresh start. She is well-known as a celebrity dancer, however, her outlook on love has drastically changed. Sean is a man that had always wanted and looked for a happiness. Instead of finding the one, he has found rejection. The renovation project that has Amy and Sean at the same location soon takes an unexpected turn and a mystery is uncovered. They both are working to find out answers to questions that have been raised. Along the way how these two feel about each other begins to change. They both feel their attraction to each other growing stronger. With they find the answers that they are searching for? Will they solve the mystery? Amy is finding that she is trusting Sean. Will that include trusting him with her heart? This is a story that has some very steamy scenes that will have the temperature in the room rising. They are a couple that you can’t help but root for to find a happy ending together. There are also other secondary characters that are introduced which I enjoyed reading about. They help and support both Amy and Sean. This is a wonderfully written story that has characters that you will not soon forget. If you like your romance intertwined with a mystery this is the book for you!

Covert Identities is a superb enemies to lovers and second chance story by Amabel Daniels. Ms. Daniels has a real talent for creating addictively good storylines, and this one is no exception. This story was intriguing and engrossing, it had mystery, drama, romance, some suspense, and there was a lot more to the story than meets the eye. It was so easy to lose myself (in a great way) in this story, tearing through it in a matter of hours, because I really had to know what would happen. The subtle complexities in the storyline seemed effortless, but are a true testament to Ms. Daniels talents as an author.
A celebrity dancer, her childhood nemesis, a hunky contractor, her best friend, human remains, an ex-police dog, an intriguing diary, and a dilapidated mansion are just some of the elements that come together in this superb read. How does it all play out? You really should read all the riveting details for yourself. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
There is a lot going on in the story, all of which is brilliantly choreographed by Ms. Daniels into a smooth and very enjoyable read. The story was a little bit slow to get going, but after a couple of chapters, the story really took off and I was hooked right through to the last word.
Ms. Daniels kept me guessing the whole way through. There were several scenarios that passed through my mind, making me wonder where the story would end up. I loved how Ms. Daniels twisted and turned the story, sprinkling surprises and unexpected details into the story.
I am really looking forward to reading the next book/s from Ms. Daniels.

Thank you, Ms. Daniels!

It’s very hard to write this review. Not sure why but this book didn’t draw me. I love all of Ms Daniels previous books. So i had high hopes for this one. But It just fell flat for me. It seems more of a mystery, with too many story lines ,and less of a romance.
About half way through it seemed to pick up the pace in the romance and mystery department. I just wasn’t able to connect with the characters and i really was unsure of the chemistry between the main couple. I almost wish this was more about the relationships between the main and secondary characters and less on the mysteries. I would have loved to learn more about Roman and Sean’s friendship.

Amy, Prima Ballerina, comes back to her hometown to open a dance studio. Her childhood neighbor and nemesis is hired to remodel her Uncles old home for her. Numerous characters appear to help or make this venture harder. Mystery surrounds her Uncles lifestyle and the dead body found in the shed. Will she get the answers she needs before everything comes tumbling down around her?

This story has the characters from her previous books in it ( Sean’s brothers) and we saw them a few times. It was nice to see them again.
I will say I have never read a book where a man goes shirtless so much....how does it Amy resist?? Rawr!

The thing I loved about this book was that it wasn’t only a love story. It also had a mystery for the main characters to unravel. Amy Perry is a famous dancer who has travelled the world. Leaving behind a crazy ex and a nasty divorce, she goes home to fix the house she inherited, to make herself a home. Little does she know, her step father has hired her childhood nemesis as her contractor. Faced with dealing with him again, Amy realizes that he has grown up to be a man. He is sexy, gorgeous and turns out he’s a gentleman too.

Sean Newland is surprised to see Amy. He found her cute back then but now she’s grown to be a beautiful, independent woman. Both have sworn to remain single but with an attraction so strong, will they succumb to their desires? First day on the job and they find a dead body on the premises and her Uncle’s journal full of riddles. Working together to solve the mystery brings them closer each day.

The story was well written with different plots that never overpowered each other but blended perfectly. Amy and Sean didn’t rush to jump into bed rather it was a slow build up that I appreciated. I was always anticipating what would happen next. The mystery of the story was a perfect crescendo until it was fully solved. I think Amabel Daniels did a wonderful job with this book.

So, I freaking loved this book! Such a good story!! I love a nice long book that can take it’s time getting to the meat of the story to help build the world of the characters. “Covert Identities” does just that and more when we meet Amy, a dancer who is breaking out of the world of performing into teaching at her great uncle’s old house. However, the house is in shambles and Amy’s stepdad hires a local contractor to fix up what will be Amy’s house and studio. What Amy doesn’t count on is the contractor being the boy next door who used to torment her as a child. What may seem like a slow start, Amabel Daniels is really just giving you the meaty beginning of a multiple decades long mystery that kept me hooked until the end! The mystery, suspense, and characters in this book were so easy to get lost in and just when I needed a good book to do that! I wish I could gush on and on about certain characters and my admiration for them but just read the book yourself and see what I mean! Amy is a heroine for the ages and Sean is the surprising rock that really drives the book. I really loved their dynamic and how this book is so much more than about the romance, though it sure has that! Again, truly loved this book and now need to head to Amazon so I can see what else Amabel Daniels has written!! I obviously give “Covert Identities” five wholehearted stars!!

Covert Identities was a great 5 star read.
If you're looking for a romantic suspense that will pull you right in, this is your read. Once I started I couldn’t put it down.

Amy has returned home to renovate her aunt's house that was willed to her. She didn’t realize the mess she was walking into. When she meets the contractor that will be working on her house she is shocked. She hasn’t seen him in years.

Sean was the boy next door and he wasn’t exactly nice to her growing up. Did they really hate each other or was it something else?

When Amy’s dog finds human bones on the property things start to get very interesting. These two work together to try and figure out the mystery. As they work together they start to realize they have feelings for each other. Can these two put the past behind them and have something special? Can they figure out the mystery? Will the mysterious diary help them?

I really liked this story, the characters were great and you could feel the love/hate coming off of them. They were perfect for each other. I liked that Amy was strong and sassy, she wasn’t afraid to give it to Sean. Sean pulled me in right away as well. The secondary characters added a great element to the story. There are twists and turns as well that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels
Stars-5

Romance, mystery, healing, and great characters are just a few things that made this story great. Amy and Sean went from picking on each other when they were little to being seriously attracted to each other. I loved reading about the transformation their relationship took from the beginning to the end. Both characters have great qualities that made them fun to read about. Amy is so strong. She has metaphorically fallen, but has gotten up. She hates bullies, and her reactions to them are, at time, funny. Sean is supportive and laid back. He helps Amy in so many ways! The supporting characters were awesome to read about as well. There's something about Grace that I just loved. I also loved Amy’s dog. He was one of my favorite things about this book! He had some great scenes. Amabel Daniels gives us background on him, which just endeared him to me more.

This story was a fun read. I love romance stories combined with something else such as humor or mystery. This story fit that bill! Overall, this story was able to grab my interest from the beginning and keep it. There were a few spot that slowed down the book, but those were very few and picked up quickly.

“The longer she delayed embracing her future, the longer she was mired in the thick darkness of her past.”

I have read Anabel Daniels before and was looking forward to another read by her. She did not disappoint. This is a hard book to put down. You will lose yourself in the words.

“One little innocent gesture and she shot right back to that fear. That horror. That shame and despair. When would it end?”

This book takes you on a journey of second chances, loss, mystery, revenge, healing, friendship, secrets, humor and hope.

What happens when all your memories aren’t quite as you think. Will you follow the riddles and mystery to get answers you may not want or will you leave your memories as they are? Will you be able to see the situation and struggles from another point of view? Will you just see it in black and white and have the discoveries taint your memories?

While on the journey of discoveries will you embrace the help of others? Who can you trust with your secrets? Will they have your best interest at heart or are they looking to take advantage of you and have history repeat itself?

“These scars only mean you’re stronger. You survived because you’re stronger than his abuse.”

Reviewing on behalf of Amo's Book Corner.

Wow, wow, wow! What a story! So much mystery, twists and turns and unexpected events all packed into one book - amazing!

After the death of her dancing mentor , Henri, Amy is left his huge house. After a messy divorce, she decides to have the house renovated so she can move in and rebuild her life. When the hired contractors turn up, there is on person she is really surprised and shocked to see - her childhood nemesis, Sean. Can they get over their rivalry and become friends or maybe more?

Alongside this, there are so may secrets that are beginning to become unravelled when Amy finds Henri's journal. Will she be able to unlock the secrets that he took to his grave?

Covert Identities really lives up to its title - so many characters turn out to be not what the reader and even the other characters thought them to be. Amabel Daniels, you are a writing genius! How you managed to pack in so much drama, romance, mystery, suspense and still the story flowed beautifully, is brilliant!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it is one that I would definitely recommend to other readers.

I was gifted a free e-book copy of ‘Covert Identities’ by Amabel Daniels from Voracious Readers Only, in return for my honest review.
Amy Perry, a celebrity dancer decides to move to her late Uncle Henri’s house, which he left to her in his will. She is still dealing with the trauma of her past marriage, so wants a fresh start.
The house needs a lot of work before she can live there, so a contractor is hired to complete the renovations by her Stepdad. The new contractor turns out to be the childhood neighbour’s boy, who she didn’t get along with.
Once the renovations start, a pile of bones is found, and the journal of Henri is also discovered.
Amy must allow her guard to be lowered and work through her past trauma to uncover the secrets of Henri through reading his journal.
This book was a mixture of genres, there was mystery, romance & in some ways horror. There are a couple of ‘steamy’ scenes, but this doesn’t take anything away from the main story. I found myself wanting to know more about Henri and was intrigued to learn what his hidden secrets were going to be.
Overall, a romantic, mystery thriller which is a great read.

This is the third book that I have read and loved by this author! Her writing NEVER fails to drag m in straight away and usually keep me on the edge of my seat whilst biting my fingernails. Covert Identities was an amazing read – the twists and turns were brilliant and it certainly lived up to its title! I loved not being able to guess what was going to happen and I loved the surprises that the author had in store for me!
The main characters Amy and Sean – I loved the chemistry between them – it was pretty HOT! I would imagine there are people who used to hate the evil boy who lived next door when they were younger only to have an instant attraction when they meet again years later.
Covert Identities is an amazing romantic suspense/mystery story which I loved!! I really cannot recommend it enough and I am definitely looking forward for more to come from Amabel Davies in the future!

Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels is an entertaining and interesting story that will keep you reading to the end.
When Amy, celebrity dancer, is given a summer house by her uncle she knows it is the perfect opportunity. Heading out of the limelight following her nasty divorce the house will give her something to focus on.
What she didn’t expect however was to focus on the contractor who had been hired to work on the house. Her high school nemesis, Sean is the last person she expects to see. But they are determined to get the job done in a professional manner. Until things start to go awry. A body is found, a journal with secrets galore is uncovered and, perhaps even more surprising, they find a mutual interest in each other - one that might just be worth further exploration.

I found this book to be highly enjoyable. Entertaining I though Amy and Sean were great together. They brought a smile to my face more than once. The story was interesting and easy to read. A very good book.

Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels is a one of a kind romance. It’s mysterious, suspenseful, intriguing and full of twist and turns that had me guessing the whole way through. I loved Amy and Sean’s evolving relationship, all of their ups and downs felt so real! I really enjoyed the flow of the story, it had the perfect amount of detail and with the dual POV’s it felt like no detail was left unwritten. I couldn’t wait to find out Amy’s story from the very beginning and I was completely shocked and surprised by the ending. I would definitely recommend this suspenseful romance to anyone looking for their next read!

I give 5 stars to Covert Identities written by Amabel Daniels.

Covert Identities is a first read from this author and I've already been looking in to more books written by Amabel, she had a brilliant way of continuing to keep me entertained and in suspense through this read, her characters were full of life and very interesting.

Amy Perry is a brilliant Celebrity dancer so with a nasty divorce just behind her, it thinks it's time to go to the summer house her uncle left for her, she's expecting a utterly unbelievable mess once she arrives. Instead she arrived to her arch nemesis from her childhood who just happens to be the contractor and seriously hot.

Sean Newland has finally recovered from the shock of finding out his new boss is Amy, and he is still determined to work this project like no other, Even with all the arguments and bickering. He just did not expect all the chemistry and pull he had towards her.

Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels is the story of Amy and Sean and the mysteries that they discover while rebuilding the summer home that was left to her. Amy was well known as a dancer but after a messy divorce she retreated to the one place that held most of her happy memories. It is there that she is reunited with her childhood nemesis, Sean, who has been hired to help with the renovations. This book kept me guessing from start to finish and had everything I was looking for. The plot was well thought out and the cast of characters were all enjoyable to read about. I definitely recommend this to fellow readers . Not my first book by the author and most definitely won’t be the last because I truly enjoy the writing style and storylines. This is definitely a five star worthy read and I’m glad I picked it up.

Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels
Five Stars

Covert Identities is a mystery/suspense/romance by Amabel Daniels. This book just sucked me in from the very first page. I love a good mystery with my romance. There were enough twists and turns to have me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Daniels and even though it is a stand alone, there are three other book that I was introduced to in this book. I plan on going back and reading those books next.
This book features, Amy Perry, who is a retired dancer that inherited a childhood home from her uncle. When she arrives to renovate her new house, she discovers her childhood nemesis, Sean, is the contractor working on the house. Their chemistry is off the charts and the mysteries start popping up to keep them in each other’s company. This is a great story of second chances!

Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels

5 Stars

Ok this was simply awesome...my second read by this author and I loved it. It had all I love in a book...mystery, suspense, 2 people who see each other again after years and pick right back up fighting each other at every turn, love, romance, hurt, danger, and a huge loveable butt dialing beast named Balboa.

Yes this story had it all and it had me trying to put the pieces together all the way through, I love stories like this, and I loved all the characters at play and how they all interacted.

I read this pretty quick since I couldn't put it down once I started and this author had a new fan when I finished the first that I read and this one just solidified that.

Loved it and I highly recommend! Hope there is more to come for these and other characters in this story.

Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels is a story filled with romance and lots of suspense. This is the story of Amy Perry and Sean Newland. Amy and Sean have such chemistry now that they are adults. But when they were kids, Sean was Amy's nemesis. They were going to work together on her uncle's house. Things did not go exactly as planned, a body was found among other mysteries along the way. As all these mysteries are happening, the chemistry between Sean and Amy is heating up and just getting hotter and hotter.

Amabel Daniels has you engaged from the start and I read Covert Identities in one sitting, I could not put it down. Her writing flows with ease, is descriptive and engaging. Her characters are well developed and very believable. I definitely recommend reading Covert Identities.

Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels is another brilliant mystery story involving the Newland siblings and I have been waiting for it for a long time! Ms Daniels is an amazing writer and I have been reading every single one of the Newland sibling stories and every single one seems to be better and better!
Covert Identities is the story of Amy Perry and Sean Newland and oh boy, do they have a history … well, one could probably call them arch enemies … and of course, the history never stays buried … only, now when they are grown, it takes a different shade and the chemistry and the sparkles and the bickering and bantering and … simply, the whole shebang!
If you love mysteries AND you love romance then this is definitely a book you need to pick up! And I promise, you will want to read the other Newland sibling books as well!

Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels is a five star novel. We first get to know Amy and how her life is about to change. She really wants to get away from her current lifestyle so she chooses to go to the summerhouse her uncle left to her. She soon realizes that there is much more going on here than she ever would’ve thought possible. Who was her uncle and what else will she find at this summerhouse? When she hires a contractor to come and fix up the house, she is unnerved when she realizes it is her nemesis from her childhood. How can she ever work with this guy who had given her so much trouble? Then they find a dead body in the shed. They start to uncover mysteries and secrets about her uncle that she would’ve never even considered! As Amy and Sean start figuring things out, the romance between them blossoms. Hopefully this love will be able to survive the issues surrounding.

3.5 stars rounded up

This is a romantic suspense with enemies to lovers romance. The romance portion of the book worked really well. Sean and Amy were cute together. Personally I would have liked a little more snarky banter because it suits my dry sense of humour. Sean had lived next door to Amy as children and their bickering was well known to both families. Meeting again as adults Amy takes Sean into her confidence to help investigate a mystery surrounding a loved relative/mentor. All this while Sean is renovating Amy’s house left to her by her Uncle Henri.
The mystery is not as strong as the romance is, only because it’s easy to figure out who the villains are. Besides that, the story was a good one. The romance is really slow-burn but I felt the connection and that’s what matters to me.
